Shabazz Napier will be traded to the Orlando Magic, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. The Magic will acquire Napier for a protected future second-round pick, reports Wojnarowski.
After one year with the Miami Heat, Napier, who won a national title with the University of Connecticut, is heading to another Florida team. Napier averaged 5.1 points, 2.5 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 19.8 minutes per game in his first year in the league. He played in 51 games.
Great deal for Magic, Heat is stupid for trading him. Not saying he is great player, but he is great back-up. Now he and Elfrid will be great duo, Magic has really nice team out there, these 2, Oladipo, Hezonja, Gordon, Vucevic, Harris. If they keep all of them, they will be one of the best East teams again!

I kind of feel like the Heat drafted him because LeBron said on twitter that he liked him and then when James bolted they didn't seem to play him much.
However they did trade away Cole so you would thought they had him down as the part of the future but maybe they have someone else in mind to replace him.

In a twist, Heat will sign Cole again (well if they had the money to do that).

Problem is he was
never a great back up.
He was a stinker last year. He was average in summer league. You could hardly call him a great back up let alone a good one. Last year, he was hardly usable player especially when you have Mario Chalmers, and Tyler Johnson coming off the bench as a PG. This year backcourt is even more crowded. Only thing the Heat did is replacing Napier rotation spot with Zoran.
Goran's the current and future PG for the Heat. Back up matters little at this point. I'm more interested if Andersen or Chalmers will be gone by the season start.

Actually Hornets drafted him, but he was traded to Heat, which shows how much Heat wanted him (to keep LeBron). I don't know why I like this guy so much, but I think Heat shouldn't trade him.

Rio can't go. He's with Heat for what, 7 seasons now? Besides, who would Heat had to yell at?

This was totally a pick to try to appease Lebron. Now the Cole trade looks bad, but I guess they have Dragic who is the best out of the 3 PGs

Not really. Cole is still a free agent. Lack of interests from teams shows his value in this league. Cole just isn't a good player.

unless he's playing with LeBron.

Cole had pretty good shot as a Pelican to impress with Jrue set aside with injury as usual. He blew it. His dismal playoffs performance didn't help either. Even his fitment with upcoming league best player Anthony Davis was questionable. Alongside LBJ/Wade/Bosh, he got away without having legit PG skillset but things are different now.
I still hope he finds a team and improve though.

He was good at throwing lobs to LeBron and brought lots of energy.
