Josh Smith has a family to feed.

Sat Jul 25, 2015 3:24 pm

FOR JOSH SMITH, $6.9 MILLION ISN'T ENOUGH
Smith will make $1.5M from the Clippers this season, and will also get a reported $5.4M annually through 2020 from Detroit -- but wants more: "At the end of the day I do have a family. So it is going to be a little harder on me this year. But I'm going to push through it and try to do something long term after this year."

He better shoot at a 45% tip then.

In all fairness, how does the average family survive on $6.9 million?

Seriously, fuck this shitbag. All my wife and I would need in order to realize the one great dream we have in our life is about 300,000 Euros. Once. We know we probably won't ever have that much money. And this asshole is complaining because he gets about 23 times as much per year? J-Smoove, you have lost your mind. I hope you can soldier through these times of hardship. You're my hero.

Had he stayed in Houston, he would have made close to $7m this year

I just realized that the 6.9 mil is before taxes. Oh my god, I had no idea. Now I really feel sorry for him. When you only have half as much at your disposal, you gotta think if you wipe your ass with a 100 $ bill or just a 50.

The thing is, he does have every right to maximise his earnings, just like any other person working any other job. On top of that, as a professional athlete, he's in a vocation that offers opportunities to earn a lot of money, but won't last as long as most other forms of employment.

Putting it as he did though, it just comes off a little silly.

That type of talk finished Latrell Sprewell's career

People say anything nowadays and other people get offended. What do I mean other people? See what I mean? Let's start a Josh Smith family dinner fund.

He should ask Spree for tips on how to survive on that little.

Ok, now that I've blown off some steam, I wanna say this: I understand that the lifestyle of an NBA player is an expensive one. Things are expected of you that consume a lot of time and money. Also, you can't do that s**t forever.
I think I'm being quite objective now. In a similar vein, I just want to exclaim that the man is a knucklehead.

He said a stupid thing to say.

But it's obvious he was reflecting his market value. He's not a minimum player given his all around skillset at still capable age. His reputation as a team cancer though is demeaning to his paycheck.

the worst part about the statement is it was a choice he made. this was not forced on him. dont accept a job for less than your max value and cry that you are not making enough money
