Top 7 teams that can be Nba champs next year

Postby MikeBibby on Tue Aug 17, 2004 3:11 pm

1.Kings- only if they dont give up Stojakovic and sign more players for depth and if webber is 100% healthy

2. dallas- with all those players on there team they have to be a team to look out for even with losing steve nash they still have harris which looks like a young pg that can help them out and gettin stackhouse was good

3. wolves- one reason wovles lost was sam being hurt...but this year they have husdon back and sam is gonna be healthy kg is gonna be a monter they can get the chip

4.pistons-pistons lost sum good players and signed some bad like McDyess was a down grade but gettin sum one like colemen is gonna help them out and darko might improve this year so dont count them out they still are contenders and can take it

5.heat- gettin shaq was a great move and havin players like wade who improve very fast and can score can put them in the finals and havin players like jones, dooling, and a young rookie like Dorell Wright will even have a better chance at takeing it

6.rockets- havin yao ming and t-mac and sum other players they are contenders if they can get a solid point guard and have t-mac learn team ball they can take it t-mac is use to being the only good player now is gonna have to share wit yao if he can pass that they can take it

7.spurs- they havent made big changes but still are a big contender

thas what i think i know sum of ya gonna think diff but thas who i feel and i think are mos tlikey to take it next year

The Kings window is closed. Peja is upset, and I've heard Bobby Jackson is as well. The Pacers don't make your list? They're just as good as the eastern conference finalists of last year.

My fearless predictions:
1: Spurs- Duncan is the dominant big man in the west now, and barry helps a bit. They aren't a lock, but they are the favourites. They only go as far as Parker takes them tho

2. Pistons- Last seasons best got better, but is that enough? Mcdyess has question marks, and was last year a fluke? We'll see... but for now, they are the team to beat in the east.

3. Heat- Shaq. That's all that needs to be said. A vengefull shaq alone makes anyteam a condentor.. add him with wade and jones, and we might just see the heat have their most succesfull season ever

4. Twolves- Last season's mvp was a healthy sam cassell away from a trip to the finals... But like we saw with the blazers and kings, will being that close kick them in the balls and see the twolves evaporate? we'll have to see... but a duncan/kg matchup in the conference finals sounds great.

5. Pacers- I like the addition of stephen jackson to a championship ready team.. But if reggie starts, its all for nothing. This team could even get by miami and detroit... they have the talent.

6. Houston- I dont think tmac and yao are a good fit... but if they are, there isnt a better tandem in all of basketball. But its such a big if, that they are down here.

7. Kings- The offensive talent is there... but it doesnt seem enough anymore, which might be a a good thing becuase they can sneak up on teams that overlook them. If webber is back to pre injury form, this team is as good as any in the west

That's something we often forget. Most people (myself included) usually assume that the top teams will be back year after year, duplicating their previous performance and perhaps eventually going even further. My fearless prediction is that Minnesota will get out of the first round again in 2005 and most likely make the Western Finals.

1 spurs. this is the team to beat imo. adding barry to the mix will really help. when you need that big shot this is the guy who can get it for you. also parker can catch a breather now and then without the team falling apart.

2 pistons. imo they only got better. they lost okur, big deal. they got antonio, who if healthy, will be a huge grab. thats not it though, they got that other player(name always slips my mind) from overseas. he is supposed to be able to step right into the 6th man role and play the 2 and 3. plus if darko does improve at all then they got that going for them also.

3 Timberwolves. if both PG's stay healthy i cant rate them lower than 3. kg is only gonna be hungrier after last season. the players on this team want that ring and they know in 1-2 more years the window will be closed.

4 Heat. this pick i am a little worried about. the heat got shaq and wade but lack depth. now if the other players can elevate thier game and hit the open shots that haveing shaq around will rpovide, then the heat could go far.

5 Mavs. still got a whole lot of talent and still got tradeable players. right now i think they got a chance to reach the finals(outside chance) but i highly doubt this team will reach the trade deadline without being changed. depending on that trade, the mavs could go far.

6 Rockets. i think tmac will pass the ball now they he has someone good to give it too. they start useing yao like they should(and the coach wants them too) this team got a shot. thier point guards need to really play well though or they can forget it.

7. pacers. this is a tough team and until they break the squad up i wont count them out yet.

I have faith in the Pistons. I think the way they played last year they could win it back-to-back.

1-Detroit Pistons, they are still the best team in the NBA by winning the championship, and have proven to be able to play as a team, while other teams made big offseason moves which seem great in the firstplace, but you dont know how they will adjust to that. Not to much changes on the team, still the #1 favorite.

2-San Antonio Spurs, they have the best player in the league. Tony Parker might become a All-Star this year if he keeps playing like he did early in the playoffs, Devin Brown improved alot and I think he will be a huge boost off the bench. Got a good SG/PG off the bench in Brent Barry who is a great shooter. I think they should do fine, besides them and Detroit I dont see a other team winning a championship so I will just go on who will be the runner up behind them.

3-Minnesota Timberwolves, came close last year. Not close enough...it might be because of injuries but even with a healthy Sam Cassel, I think the Lakers would still beat them. Garnett will probably have about the same season he has had last year, they might need to get a better center, but I dont really see them winning a championship in the first place, trading away Wally Szczerbiak might help them out.

4-Los Angeles Lakers, Im the first one to add them over here, might be because Im a Lakers fan that I have them so high in my list, or it might be because in my eyes they still have a very good team. I think Kobe can lead them to the second round of the playoffs if they dont face the Spurs or the Timberwolves. They have added alot of depth in their team and might have the best bench in the whole NBA, they do lack a little at the pointguard position that might hurt them in both the offense and defense so they need to upgrade that. I probably would rank them #4 if Karl Malone would come back, if he wont I can put them on the #5 spot.

5-Houston Rockets, perhaps have the best duo in the NBA, but I still dont think Yao is that good and is weak as hell so I dont really think he will be so huge for them as most people think. He might change with Tracy McGrady, but I dont know. They have a good team behind those two, but not that much experience in the playoffs so that might hurt them.

6-Miami Heat, added the most dominant player in the NBA perhaps, but the only way they will make the finals, is by buying tickets. Shaq will face more double teams now then he had with the Lakers, and I dont think he will be able to dominate against that as he did in his championship year, he has less options to pass out now for a open shot, Wade and Jones can make the open shots, but if that will be enough. They should make the Eastern Conference Finals tho.

7-Indiana Pacers, I dont see another logical team to actually compete against a championship team so I picked them. Not much improvement, added Jackson on their bench and will be even a better 3-point shooting team, but I doubt they will get out of the second round.

I'll put Denver or the Grizz over the Pacers because they are a better overall team. The Pacers won't be able to handle neither team when they place each other next season.

Well, because first you say that Minnesota will win, and a couple of minutes later its Detroit all of the sudden?

Where's the Pacers on the poll?

Pistons
Spurs
Wolves
Pacers
Grizz
Kings
Heat

I would've left off the last 2 if this wasn't about listing 7 teams.

yeah the kings chance is gone. its to bad too cause i liked a few of thier players, and i hated the lakers so much.i guess you could say they have a small outside chance this year if things go thier way. things like being perfectly healthy while thier comp gets a key injury.

how are they over just cuz peja wants to leave.....nah i dont think they gonna give up peja plus if they do i heard they can get ron artest or somone better..but they not gonna give him up this team is still contendors u cant count them out u got bibby gettin better every year and still is young.... u got doug whos a tight defensive player and who score on pressure ...then u got brad miller who can rebound ,post ,shoot from the outside and pass, then you have webber whos is all-star if hes healthly....he played wit a weak knee and still was puttin up good fingures.....imagine if hes 100% next season? then u have bobby jackson who can come off the bench and drop 20 points, play sum d, and pass...... Then u have Peja who second nba leading scorer best shooter in the nba and is gonna get better .... how can u say they finish? ight lets say peja does leave and they trade him........ lets say they get ron artest..... ron artest just came back from being the Defensive player of the year whos still improveing and still is young having over 18 points last season and more then 5 res shows that he can improve and be a all-star when hes not on the court throwing t.vs..... ron artest this year made a big improvement after he clamed down and stoped his temper a lil and shows what he can do if he wants to win and hes got the defensive player of the year award for that......... theres nuttin but bigger things coming to him and if kings do lose peja it would be a big hurt but not that big if they get artest

i am not saying that the kings window is closed because of the peja situation. i am saying they had thier shots at the finals and now everyone is getting older/unhappy. bobby wants to either get paid or get a trade. peja upset over the divac thing but i think they could calm him down. now if they could get him to showup during playoff time that would really be something. webber is to soft to bang with the big boys come playoff time.

listen i think the kings are still a good team, they just are not as good as they used to be. add that to the fact the other teams are just better than them and i say thier window is closed.
