i was inspired by DRESPN*'s topics, Fact or Fiction, Him or Him, and Worst Off-Season Move, so I was going to start a topic called what would you do. Here are the rules. A member will post a situation, any kind just made up, that might happen in the game, then another member will post an answer, just like DRESPN*'s topics, so here's one for anybody.

What will you do?
It's the fourth quarter, 24 seconds left, you're playing the SAC. Kings, which is a great three-point shooting team, and your team is up by two.

In that case, I would put a man to man defense on them, let the players warn eachother for upcoming picks so they can switch in time, I dont want the offense coming over the screens, drawing other defensive attention, which leads to open players outside. Good communication sums it up.

I play a strict man to man with my best perimeter defender on whoever's most hot. With team defense we'll try to push shooters even further away from the perimeter and funnel any penetration to one of our shotblockers/weak side help.....

just play them straight up man to man with lots of communication eventually when the clock runs down to about 7 seconds or so, foul whoever.. sub in your power forward or center with a good free throw shooter.. in bound to him.. and see how things go from there

I'd trap them, make sure they use pretty much all of the available 10 seconds to get to my half. Then foul.

Another situation, fairly generic: You're down by two with enough time to set up a final play. Do you try for overtime or do you try for the win if you're at home? How about it if you're on the road?

Depends if you're on a roll or not. If the other team has just come back from a big deficit, I wouldn't gamble on OT.

Always go for OT. I don't care if you're on the road it's too risky. I'd give it to the MVP (KG, hehe) and let him go to work. If they double, kick it out.

yeah, cause you have better chances at hitting a 2, like in the post, than with hitting the trey, it depends, if it was kobe to shoot the three, i'd go for it, peja, yeah. now sam cassell, i'll go to kg.

Situation:

You are the lakers and playing Shaq and the Heat. Kobe Bryant made 8 shots in a row just earlier...but has missed his next 5 shots. 0:10 left on the clock. Heat have Shaq in the paint with Lakers down by two.

You need to inbound the ball... as coach wat would you get your guys to do?

Let Kobe drive in and challenge Shaq?
Let Kobe shoot the three?
Give Kobe the ball and hope he dishes the rock to an open shooter?
Or something else?

ISO Kobe and have him drive. Or give him a pick and take it to the rack. Get a foul on the Big Fella (probably with 4/5 already) or someone else, if not, pop for a mid ranged floater or kick out to Odom, Rush, Butler, Atkins, etc.

You're the Blazers (ie, you have Ratliff). There are 26 seconds remaining and you're playing the Heat, who are inbounding from half-court. You're up 3. You know the ball will be in Shaq's hands. You have no more fouls to give and Shaq has amazingly made his last 6 FT's. Do you foul him as he shoots, let him have the bucket, or double and allow him to kick out for a potential game-tying 3?

I'd try and get Kobe to make a move just outside the 3-point line and if the heat have a foul to give they'd probably use it. I would make them use that quickly, maybe tell Kobe to attempt to throw up a 3 if he's purposely fouled. Other than that, get Odom and maybe Devean by the hoop for offensive rebounding, Walton and Rush on the wings for 3's and let Kobe drive and score, drive and dish, or miss and rebound.

Ehm, duh? You expect me not to defend players on my team? If I said KG sucks, you wouldn't be up in my face? Please.

Yeah, just like KG blocked Pau's facial. :)
