Recent Controversial Events in the US

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I enjoy the light heart nature of the community. I will reiterate for those who still do not understand Farrakhan > Malcom X His psychic abilities alone predetermine his superior contributions to civil rightsblackcivil rights. He was actually pretty good with the violin, and played well enough to restore relations between embattled Jews and Muslims. While scoring positive public relations himself, though, he was already recognized as a prominent figure - not always for the best reasons. Nonetheless he contributed far greater.

Instead of using metal toys to defend himself like Malcom X, after pushing the reset button with Israeli relations he voluntarily took upon:

A high discipline order of martial arts, after 10 years he fully mastered the spinning star technique and dispatched multiple assailants with it. At his old age he's still relatively lethal when executing the spinning star technique, even so Chuck Norris himself may have difficultly countering it. After successfully fine-tuning his skills using the sacred Jewish Star, he proceeded to mend relations even further.

The dude who publicly supported Obama during his elections(2008 iirc) but then claimed he was careful never to endorse him.

Regardless the race/flaws, you still got a lot of reasons to like Farrakhan. America needs more men like him.

Glad to see some of NLSCers are surprisingly knowledgeable in these topics.

Uh . . . just so you know - I know of these individuals, but I'm hard pressed to actually "like" them. Sure, they've contributed in their own way, however, I do not look up to them. I don't like Malcom X or Farrakhan. I find it difficult to find something 100% positive to say about them, which of course will vary on the person - who decides what was positive, and what wasn't very positive.

I for one would find disagreement in many areas, but some of the key components are merely deviations or adaptions of my own or someone else. Nonetheless it was enjoyable and rather pleasant to discuss them, however silly it may have been. Just a heads up that you have at least one dissenter in this thread. My honest opinion: MLK > M&F

Duh. I don't follow Farrakhan at all. I very seldom watch and read about him. He serves certain purpose and follows his own interest which is obvious just as John Hagee does kinda as Farrakhan's counterpart.

His usefulness is still unquestionable imho, especially in this era where MSM does all thinking for you. Some of the issues he touches and truth he exposes are certainly more valuable in my eyes than some BS you occasionally have to put up with. It's at least pick and choose game on info/disinfo you digest.

The beauty of Malcolm is that he realized he was a mouthpiece for the NOI and he was being used by the "honorable" Elijah Muhammad and found the error of his ways when he went to Mecca and prayed beside white Muslims.

That's the beauty of education and being open to learning new things

So two cops died after being 'executed' by a gunman.

Don't forget to ban those guns - that'll teach those gunmen to stop murdering cops. Unfortunate as that is - we should go riot and burn down our neighborhoods now. No justice = no peace.

The dumbest part of it is that the dude claimed it was because of the outcomes of the Michael Brown & Eric Garner cases and yet he didn't kill white cops but two minority cops. That makes no sense.

Perhaps he was color blind. Hate often doesn't make much sense at all though, it's still baffling as to why he didn't follow the narrative framework laid out for him. It would appear to scream "kill the white cops," and not "kill cops indiscriminately."

Hate makes people irrational. Emotions in general cause instability. And obviously the man who killed two policemen is a rook in terms of murder. :P

That's just the world we live in. Unfortunately, even I've been attacked a few times just because I'm biracial. I was walking downtown while the riots were going on, and they assumed just because I'm African American I'm going to go riot and burn shit. So they beat the hell out of me.
Lovely world, in'nit?

Funny how Ferguson DA admits to allowing lying witnesses to testify to the grand jury. We already know that's what happened but he had the audacity to admit it.

Things like this fortunately or unfortunately let you see how uninformed the average person really is, and how keen they are to chime in. So many armchair lawyers on social media, and people who lack any shred of sensibility. There's an extremely minute percentage of police officers who abuse their power and flex their muscle against certain groups, and an equally small percentage who are anti-police or feel they should be killed. You'd never know that, though, based on the reactions of who you'd otherwise consider rational, intelligent people. At the end of the day, they need to stop killing each other.

Anyone who would like to actually help, and get a t-shirt in the process, all donations are going to the families of the fallen officers -- I get nothing out of this, but I bought two cause why not -- store.barstoolsports.com/products/new-yorks-finest-navy-tee

I like how it takes until the near last paragraph of the first page before they actually mention any of the groups.
Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference in Chicago; from the Drug Policy Alliance, Make the Road New York and Equal Justice USA from New York; from Sojourners, the Advancement Project and Center for Community Change in Washington; and networks from the Gamaliel Foundation

Mr. Fellows explained how he started his organization in an interview with the American Civil Liberties Union (another Soros-backed entity that sent national representatives to Missouri)

Just a bunch of political-based money laundering machines. Nothing to see here folks.

“I went to Ferguson in a quest to be in solidarity and stand with the young organizers and affirm their leadership,” said Kassandra Frederique, policy manager at the Drug Policy Alliance, which was founded by Mr. Soros, and which receives $4 million annually from his foundation. She traveled to Ferguson in October.

On October 26, 2010, Soros donated $1 million, the largest donation in the campaign, to the Drug Policy Alliance to fund Proposition 19, that would have legalized marijuana in the state of California if it had passed

Soros has funded worldwide efforts to promote drug policy reform. In 2008, Soros donated $400,000 to help fund a successful ballot measure in Massachusetts known as the Massachusetts Sensible Marijuana Policy Initiative which decriminalized possession of less than 1 oz (28g) of marijuana in the state. Soros has also funded similar measures in California, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Nevada and Maine.[86] Among the drug decriminalization groups that have received funding from Soros are the Lindesmith Center and Drug Policy Foundation.[87] Soros donated $1.4 million to publicity efforts to support California's Proposition 5 in 2008, a failed ballot measure that would have expanded drug rehabilitation programs as alternatives to prison for persons convicted of non-violent drug-related offenses.
