Nice of Yahoo to combine all the fantasy sports into one app. It has gotten better. There are some things missing but overall it's good enough to use

Q,
At least it is something to consider. There is no money to win so it's not a big deal. I suppose this league still is competitive while some are more involved than others. I don't see anything wrong if you are exploiting the add/drop. It is somewhat comical but having the bidding system and a budget levels the playing field for everyone. Especially since we are on multiple time zones. Of course if this happens I'm sure someone will blow their load on Joe nobody.

Novu,
All this expert analysis you have un graced us upon has not come to fruition for your own team. I can barely hear you anyway since you are so fucking far back in the standings

Wow, just wow. You can shut up now if you expected me to treat you with respect and decency after all these shitty years.

What is with this endless silly whining, I didn't know this was a boys league. :facepalm2:

airgordon. Stop being silly. Listen to what you are saying ffs:
1) My job hours don't support me to be a better fantasy player
2) Current FA pool system isn't fair because of time zone issues
Your Solution: let's fix what isn't broken and create new set of problems.

It sounds like you almost want to penalize people that actually put in effort. Playing field's already leveled. Everyone has equal freedom to add and drop players that they want to. Only real reason to consider your suggestion is if we want this league changed to something different, which I actually could agree to, just out of boredom.

Now, what is this system that you're speaking of? Is this a salary cap based league? AFAIK salary cap based league doesn't operate in the way you explained. Does it even exist?

Wow I really wished I felt this contempt towards free agency. I'd put on the suit n armor and go to battle. If it's any consolation you brought a smile to my face

This league has been around for a while. There have been some changes along the way. Some people can intelligently discuss possible changes without spazzing out. Some cannot. And some are afraid of something they do not understand altogether

Yeah it is a credit to the active owners adding a player after a good game. If there is a bidding system for free agents and a free agent budget, you are giving everyone an equal shot to pick up a player. It also is a check and balance for the owners who constantly add and drop players. Ahem hasan white side or whatever that waste is called

As I said, it's just a thought.

It is comical reading the criticism of me adding Derrick Williams and bargnani. Big deal? I'm still in first place despite those atrocities. Just wait for the echo of my post, mr 13 games back. Is that the best you can come up with? It's not like I have made all these expert claims on how to win this league while my team is just over .500...or how great my players are doing only to trade them later

Re: NLSC Basketball '15

You don't have to get so defensive because I didn't entirely disapprove your idea. I just didn't like your excuses and the way you put it as if it's a problem in any way in this league giving some sort of unfair advantage to a certain group of people (when they're merely playing the game the way it's supposed to be played).

But let's not get distracted. Let's talk more about this 'possible changes' without spazzing out no more. How do we go about and do this? So say we all get $10 start up money and buy players from FA? If I want a player from FA, I initiate whatever the process and outbid everyone? Are you sure we don't have to rent a server and hire programmers to create our own comical fantasy league from your fantasy?

Are you really sure about that bidding part? It's kinda disadvantageous on us living on the other side.

Re: NLSC Basketball '15

I don't think it's necessary for a whole bidding system for free agents, especially the ones in this league. Not sure if I would even bid a penny on some unknown scrub at the end of Philly's bench.

I think a simple weekly waiver system will do. In the football league I have the waivers reset every week based on standings but I'm not sure if that's necessary in this league

I know I'm at the bottom of the waivers every week and I'm surprised that I still get osme of these guys that I'm getting

Please, you try to add every one that had a big game, whether it was a fluke performance or not.
Some players you get lucky, some don't so you release them, which explains the amount of waiver moves you have.

Your method is basically a crapshoot.
Except for Defense pick ups, which we all do at some point in the season.

CJ Anderson was a combination of your method above and the Bronc's other running backs dropping like flies because of injuries at a perfect time for CJ.

Qballer wrote:shadow feel that owners with more moves don't know what they're doing

Not really. I wouldn't even call it unfair because it's within the rules.
But it could turn ridiculous and too easy to milk it without repercussions if I made a shit pick up or not since I can easily drop the player like a hot potatoe and go get a new one.

The NFL league is fine for now since there are a only few of us there and the free agency talent pool is deep enough for everyone to even overhaul their entire team early in the season.

As for this NBA league...

:facepalm2: Yahoo has a bidding system of its own which can be applied by the commissioner before the start of the league.
Why would anyone even suggest a change that's complicated and outside the system used by this league (Yahoo)...air gordon may be a dick but he's not stupid...well sometimes he is but that's a different topic...

That Rodney Hood-Steven Adams trade just shows how deep this league's FA list.

Well, I've never heard of such a league/system so was in doubt. Sounds fun though if it's feasible. I'm all for trying out new things especially in this context. Perhaps somebody should fire up Unofficial League engine and get some second league action going like in previous days. I honestly can't imagine drastic changes in this league tbh. I mean this is Oh-fficial league so might wanna keep it the way it is and not shake up entire landscape because of one person's sucky job hours.

Can you do it shadow? You seem to be knowledgeable in running the league and be a Doobie successor. Or dei is a good candidate imo, he's been consistent in our forum. Unfortunately I can't, personal life gets massively changing in upcoming year or so with marriage and all that minor stuffs.

Brawn Shadley wrote:That Rodney Hood-Steven Adams trade just shows how deep this league's FA list.

I just wanted him gone. My headache could be another man's precious and didn't want him going to a wrong team. Limo acted the fastest. Now there was this guy I was eying in FA... :cheeky:

The league you are accustomed to right now is the result of accumulated changes brought upon it in the past.
It's not a massive shake up if a change is applied since it can be removed in the season after it if people don't like it.

No.
Why would I want to follow in Doobie's fat footsteps. It's Doobie ffs.
Also, when I win you bitches would probably cry foul.

Sigh. A weekly waiver system for all add drops seems like a good idea. Anything more sophisticated and the kid with the dunce hat gets rowdy

Playing the crying card and my work hours is already getting old.

It is amusing the supposed expert in his own neck of the woods concludes snce he didn't hear of it, it clearly does not exist

Good times

It's a complication which might put off some noobs but I will support your proposed idea because it sounds a lot of fun. It will involve fun tactics, I can definitely approve that.

Just don't go pretentious on me and say stupid things like "leveling the playing field" as if current system is broken/unfair, rather man up and say what you really wanna say outright: "Let's find ways to punish active members who gives actual shit about this league and try to improve their impoverished teams via FA".

This active lively league is a good thing. I'd much rather play with guys like Sevin's Team, Limo, Brawn Shitley than 20 Jaos. This year's new comers gave new life to the league and that's a good thing imho.

Brawn Shadley wrote:Also, when I win you bitches would probably cry foul.

But that would just be the case in all leagues. I won't recognize your championship until full scale investigation is done in all leagues even if Andrew or SofnAwesome were commish.

Oh the irony. That's what the bidding system hopes to improve, give everyone an equal chance to improve their teams via the FA instead of giving advantage to people who have more time to watch basketball or analyze the box scores of every game during the week.

Also, time zones.
Not every one lives in North America or willing to wake up ungodly hours just to watch an NBA game (for guys in yurop) or has NBA League Pass or has the time to browse box scores of all the games during the week just to find a decent FA pick up.

If anything it makes the league more competitive.

Analyzing or so called player evaluation is all there is to this fantasy game and nothing else. If your knowledge lacks, or doesn't(or can't) invest as much effort/passion but spend more time playing video games, well, too bad, ofc you deserve to be at disadvantage in this game. Same nature as every other competitive things in our life. But the point you are making that we make this league more noob/timezone friendly, sure. If bidding system can improve that, I would also say we should give it a go.

Fantasy game is always about drafting right and scouting right. That will still remain core value in this game imo. Bidding system would add more tactic/managing element(with waivers/money) to the game and maybe put less importance into scouting. Sounds like this actually could be entertaining.

Hope to see Q explore our options.

This league is for NLSC members to partake in fantasy league fun with bragging rights and smack talk on the side without wasting their time more than it is needed.

If you want a league to compete in and be passionate about in your life go join a money league and spend your time there, at least if you win you gain something concrete, dollah dollah bills yo, for the effort and time you put into instead of having nothing to show but only bragging rights over losers in a videogame basketball forum.

On the contrary, it will make good scouting a premium since people must evaluate and determine if the current free agent on the auction block is worthy to blow their waiver budget on or keep their budget to use on another potential signing.
