Fact Or Fiction? NLSC style........

Postby John-John Joe on Wed Aug 11, 2004 3:55 pm

Hi NLSC, I hope you're familiar with a popular segment that my namesake ESPN runs frequently. In this thread you will consider the question being asked and then reply with the answer fact or fiction. Giving a brief reason is not a requirement but prefferable.... After responding, you then post your own fact or fiction question for a NLSC member to answer who will in turn pose a question, etc. etc. etc., on and on..... Got it? Good, let's begin.

Fact or Fiction: Kobe Bryant (barring conviction) will be the scoring champ next season.

Never seen the segment but I think I understand it...

Fiction.

I don't think Kobe's ever going to be the kind of player who feels the need to score 34ppg or whatever, he's more likely to be a 25/7/5 man for his career, and I think if he can manage that it'll be alot more helpful to the Lakers than an extra 8 or 9 points would be. I don't think it'll be McGrady either.

Fact or Fiction: LeBron and/or Carmelo won't progress much statistically next season from their rookie year.

Fiction. I only see big things coming from the like of those two. Scoring will go up for both as well as rebounds.

Fact or Fiction: There's no way that the Hornets can make the playoffs now that they are in the West.

I'll say Fiction. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hornets make the playoffs as one of the lower seeds given that some of the Western Powers (notably Dallas and the Lakers) don't look to be quite as good as they were last season.

Fact or Fiction: T-Mac & Yao will work much better than Franchise & Yao.

Fact

I've got a sneaking suspiscion Shaq will have a bit of a word with T-Mac about giving the ball to their big guy more, which seems to be the biggest concern with Yao and McGrady.

Where's your question? :(

Edit, see Riot made one:
Fact or Fiction: Emeka Okafor will be rookie of the year?

Fiction. Big role, but lots of competition, don't think he'll put up the same scoring #'s as others and rebounding #'s as Howard.

The Magic will go from #1 pick to playoffs.

Tough one...I'll go out on a limb and call it fact. I think he'll have more of a chance to shine on the Bobcats than Howard will on the Magic.

EDIT: Forgot to put a question.

Fact or Fiction: Eddy Curry will finally get motivated and have a good year.

Wow that was weird.

Edit - If this clock showed seconds, my post would be 10:21:00. I swear. When I posted, which took about 3 seconds to press, load, and type, Jae had not posted.

Fact or Fiction: The NBA Champion will be determined in the Eastern Conference finals this year (you know what I mean).

Hehehe, yeah, it'll take some getting used to. To make it easier just remember two simple rules. Quote the persons question and then post your own question once you're done.

O.k. Fact or Fiction: Stojakovic will finish the season next year as a Sacramento King.

Fact or Fiction: Stojakovic will finish the season next year as a Sacramento King.

Fiction. The Sacramento Kings have reportedly been looking to turn more defensive minded. Sacramento has realized that you can not win by playing offense only so they released Divac (who is not a presence inside) and signed Greg Ostertag (who can bang in the paint). I expect to see a Peja Stojakovic and Ron Artest trade in the works.

Fact or Fiction: The Golden State Warriors should trade Jason Richardson to get a good Center.

Hmmm...fiction. I'll say that both conference champions will have a good chance at winning the title, so it won't be in effect decided in either Conference Finals series.

Fiction. The West will take the crown back next year. I'm looking at San Antonio, Minnesota and Denver to be serious contenders for the crown.....

Fact or Fiction: Dirk Nowitzki is the best foreign player in the NBA.

Fact. The only downside Dirk Nowitzki has is his defense which he should be working on. He has the talent to be a good defensive player but he just has to set his mind to it. I expect to see him play better defense this year.

Fact or Fiction: The Golden State Warriors should trade Jason Richardson to get a good Center.

Fiction

they should keep him. Theres no real big guys that can make a difference out there that Richardson can be traded for.

Fact or Fiction
Kwame Brown will turn into legit big man this season

Pure fiction. Have Dale Davis, Foyle for a few years. Andris as the pet project.

The Magic will go from lotto (#1 pick) to playoffs.

Edit - Oh My God.

Fact. Already showed signs this past season.
