What's "as per team policy"?

Postby whlee75 on Fri Aug 06, 2004 5:26 am

When it comes to off-season signing, one thing I notice is that big name players like McGrady or Shaq usually have no problem revealing their contract-- 6 year, 140 million or something like that. But when minor deals have been done (eg. kings sign ostertag, etc.), we can see their contract terms are usually not disclosed "as per team policy". Is it me or this "team policy" actually has to do with players' popularity or fame?

I think if the team has a policy, it's done. The team never releases the numbers on the contract. One team that comes to mind is the Hornets. To date, nobody knows what Magloire's 3 yr contract extension really is. However, we do know the deals of players (such as Chris Andersen) because the agents tell the media what the deal was.
