It was an exhibition game. I was there in the Arena with 18.000 other people. And Germany deserved to win or at least send it into overtime. That game was awesome, but the US team was only barely better than the night before.

They had no answer for Dirk Nowitzki (besides the Answers clutch 3pt) and besides Duncan and Anthony noone really was that good.

But it was an awesome experience to see them live ...

=) welcome in europe guys hehehe... just joking.

Anyway I think things will be better for US Team (the real Dream Team was the one with Bird, Magic, Jordan, Malone and others, they were other type of players) against Turkey and don't know what other teams will play with. This evening will be against Serbia Montenegro, it could be harder than Italy, ex-yugoslavian teams are better than Italy I think, i'm curious to see the match.

Actual US players are good ok, but they have not the right experience to play out of NBA, I think.

From ESPN

To recap: Duncan, Odom, Redd, Hamilton, Wade (starters); Iverson, Prince, [Brad] Miller, LeBron, Stoudemire (bench guys); Cardinal, Hoiberg (energy guys).

Prince: Put it this way: You wouldn't see Italian guys getting wide-open looks for 40 straight minutes with Tayshaun around.

whole article here http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ons/040804

i agree there.....Redd should deffinately be there, and i also think that Prince and/or Artest should be there. A Defensive stopper. Once again, Redd should be there, REDD REDD REDD REDD
even Brent Barry, and i'm being 100% serious....BRENT BARRY....plays 2 positions, shoots the 3 excepetionally and with the 3 being closer he'd only be better (He'd get to practice with Timmy as well) BRENT BARRY

USA should drop the ALL Star thing and go for a formulaic team, something like that guy mentioned.....Big man, 3 point shooters, hustlers, defensive stoppers, etc

I hope to write right without errors, sorry for my english... i was joking saying welcome to europe etc etc, but it's clear that type of games between europe and usa is different. What I see in a match between two NBA teams is a lot of show, fast game, and go on, but it seems to be a less logical type of game, that is what I see in a match between two european team. There is show and fast game too, but there is more logic, more play view and those things that youngest player than Bird, Magic & c. don't have. Type of playing in a national team is more important, AI and others have to forget to be NBA stars, because probably they are stars only in NBA, if one of them come in europe to play somewhere will found great difficults to be in a different logic of playing.

I know that european and rest of world players come to play in NBA, but most of them don't play often and soon. It's not the case of Manu Ginobili http://www.legabasket.it/player/pbd.phtml?ply=GIN-EMA-77&from=1980&team=958&type2=t&name_search=Ginobili or Marko Jaric http://www.legabasket.it/player/pbd.phtml?ply=JAR-MAR-78&from=1980&team=958&type2=t&name_search=Jaric, they were simply great in our italian championship. Other players have less luck (our Benetton Treviso Stefano Rusconi didn't play so well and so often). I think great european player go to NBA and improve, in a different way of an NCAA or NBA player.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think in this way. Probably if a player like AI play in an european team, after a couple of weeks could turn back in NBA because of his incompatibility with european type of play. AI could be too much for european basketball or european basketball could be not enough for him.

I also think my english will make you lough out loud :D

simply said: here is more competitiv spirit with the right dose of show, in NBA there is a great dose of show and a very little competitiv spirit. This is the differences that a lot of ppl don't understand.

^^^ I kind of agree

also, the zones USA players face in the NBA, which are few and far between, are poor. Euro teams play team defence and they can play the zone well.

yep stack!

a question: do you know that in october Benetton Treviso will play against Toronto Raptors in Toronto? in Benetton there are 3 players of the Italy Team (Soragna, Marconato and Bulleri), but I think Toronto will give us a lot of points :P

Hey! don't say bad word. admit it that Italy beat the USA. My prediction USA team will not get a medal.
Your right they are very young team and Italy play's together in every year and US don't.
In a battle even if you are super power but you are not prepared you will lose the battle. USA, individually they are great players but BASKETBALL is a team effort.
If the USA team will not win a gold is a very shameful not only to the USA and also to the NBA and this is a wake up call to the NBA and their players.
Im a big big big fans of the original dream team and NBA but my opinion the US TEAM WILL NOT WIN A GOLD MEDAL THIS COMING OLYMPICS. because the way the play, lack of shooter, no team work , only duncan dominate in rebound.
MY PREDICTION
GOLD = SPAIN
SILVER = SERBIA MONTENEGRO
BRONZE = ITALY

BUT IM PRAYING THAT THE USA WILL WIN A GOLD MEDAL

Frank, Italy had not a lucky game, simply played united with concentration, and it's not so true italian team play toghether always, coach Recalcati changed e lot of players during the preparation for the Olympic Games and other tournaments.

Anyway I think US players will improve for the Olympics (doing so will improve their basketball culture) and could win the medal. But it'll be not so easy. They can win if play united and concentrate, there is no need to be an extrahuman like in NBA.

I also see well Argentina, Spain and Italy, but pay attention to Serbia and Germany.
