Tutorial: Editing Global Accessories

Postby Kevin on Fri May 09, 2014 9:58 pm

So in this tutorial, I’m going to try and teach you how to make an accessory for your own personal global. I decided to do this not only because you guys kept spamming me in the PMs but also, to help all of you in creating your personal global.

In this tutorial, I'm going to create the Nike Arm Sleeve as an example.

We are going to start with an empty texture that will soon replace the Adidas power Web arm sleeve (don’t worry, I’ll post the template later.)
Image
That is the template.
Now, we need to search for the Nike Sleeve to use as a reference pic.

I picked this one
Image
So what I’m going to do is use the rectangle tool and make a rectangle.
Like this.
Image
Then, use the paint bucket tool and color it black.
Image
Make another rectangle using the same tool but this time as you may have noticed, the square’s size is decreasing so we need the square to be a little bit smaller than the first that we made. Just repeat the same process 3 more times and voila.
Image
Now, we need to do the rectangle thing. Just use the rectangle tool and make it look like the one in the pic. Try experimenting with the length.
Image

I used the paint bucket tool to recolor it to black. So now, we have this.
Image

We are still missing the Nike logo and since the pic wasn’t enough to lasso out the Nike logo, we are going to look for the Nike logo. I used this and just cropped the Nike logo.
Image
So I pasted it in the template, resized it and moved it to the bottom.
Image
But there is still one thing we haven’t done here and its improving the color. What I mean by this is that you need to colorify this to make it look better in-game.

So, how do we do it?
It’s simple, go to “Colors” and at the bottom there is the option to “COLORIFY”. Click that and then at the options screen, pick the red color and it should look like this in the preview.
Image
Press okay.
Image
Now, we need to flip the image. Right click the texture, go to Image> Transform> Flip Horizontally
FINAL TEXTURE: (Ignore the watermark)
Image

Import it using the 2kx MOD TOOL.

Good luck (Y)

I'd probably add a cheerleader and mopguy outfit editing tutorial in my Crowd Editing Tutorial.
Anyways, if any of you think that my tutorial is bogus,

You need to have either Photoshop or Gimp to open a dds file. You also need to have a dds plug-in. Just search for it in google

Again, I made this for you guys to not depend on others too much anymore. You can do it, you just need some time and experiment, thats how I got here.

Let's say I have an existing accessory, and when you make it white in game, it's too gray. How would that be fixed?

Figured out what it was. My red wasn't bright enough.

One more thing if you don't mind. Can you list the the global file numbers for all the accessories? The sleeves, the hex pads, ect.

With that, for example, there's knee_hexpad and knee_hexpad_n. Which should be edited?

The knee_hexpad is the texture while the names with the _n is the green map. So for example, you edited the hexpads, you need to make a green texture for it.

Please dont PM me the same question when you've already posted it here. I check the forums regularly, dont worry.
As for that, look for Jao's global.iff list here in the forums and search for it there.

I don't know but you could try recoloring every part. Like if there is a blue part, color it with blue/red, if there would be a yellow color, color the part with a color that is not red nor blue, it may be yellow or something. I think that worked for me last time.Try some colors if it works or just color it in paint XD

You can just color it in red in photoshop or gimp. Can you send me the textures of that sleeves so I can fix it? or is it private stuff? And yes, it is possible. You just have to test to see where you wanted it to show up.
