Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

TNA is just, ugh. In-ring stuff is still pretty good, but the crowds are just beyond dead. They'd be better off paying for an arena of extras they would pay to cheer. Storylines are getting cringeworthy again too.

I read that EY winning the title was an obvious knockoff of DB but I gave them the benefit of the doubt... until I saw he grew a long beard

well he has had the beard for a few years now, but yea, him getting the title came out of the blue, and with random Yes chants from the crowd, it just feels like a terrible knockoff.

Again, some neat in-ring stuff last night****, great hardcore I Quit match, and the Wolves never disappoint. The tables match finish was, just dreadful, and I dont think there is 1 storyline going on right now that I can get behind and say 'at least TNA has this going on'.

that raw opening. awesome. idc what koberulez says they are making Bray out to be the supervillian to Cena's superhero. Even if Cena wins the physical battles they are embracing the psychological losses, and not in a cheap transfer way like with Rock. Thought it was corny at first then it was just creepy as fuuuuuck. :applaud:

Holy fucking shit, that was awesome.

I wonder how this angle would be going if the WM crowd hadn't started singing in the middle of the match...

It seems they might have remembered that instead of trying to tell the fans what they like, it's better to ride the momentum and capitalise on the reactions workers are actually getting.

I mean, it's not like they've never done that in the past. Steve Austin was brought in to be, in his own words, a mechanic; a guy who could have good matches with a variety of people in the midcard and not much more than that. When he took off with the fans and the Austin 3:16 promo made his merchandise a license to print money, the company got behind him, gave him the ball and let him run with it. Similarly, fans didn't care for bland, goodie-goodie Rocky Maivia, but when they incorporated their dislike of him into his reinvention of himself as the brash, egotistical character of The Rock, one of the biggest stars in the history of the business was born.

Perhaps they've realised their past mistakes in trying to contain and control fan reactions, rather than take advantage of them. I guess we'll see, but for now we have Bryan as the world champion and Cena taking a break from the title picture while being involved in a more interesting than usual feud. It's promising.

So the opening was brilliant, and then we got Sheamus squashing O'Neil for no reason and the Ziggler/Jackman/Sandow segment. My neck hurts.

now if they'd done that with Ziggler as either a heel OR face, ryder, Cesaro (kinda), seems like they're pushing Barrett now with his new-found popularity

I think Ziggler's problem is that his character still lacks a hook. Don't get me wrong, he's got a lot of charisma and in-ring ability, but while Nick Nemeth is definitely a main event talent, Dolph Ziggler is a character I personally am just not that interested in. He's basically a cocky guy with bleached blonde hair; it's a classic look and gimmick, but we've seen it done before and there's nothing that really sets him apart. He needs something extra, something that really gets him over like "Yes!" did for Daniel Bryan. Given that he's gotten himself buried for complaining about his status in media interviews, he should probably choose his words a little more carefully as well.

As for Ryder, I think his gimmick just ran its course. He's also another guy that got a bit too whiny behind the scenes, which didn't work in his favour.

Which they were doing a fantastic job of, until Cena's promo a couple of hours later where he completely no-sold the entire thing and went back to cracking jokes again.

Coming up fine for me. Of course, if they're quoted, they'll be converted to a link to the image. That's a change we made recently.

On that subject, your what I can only assume are Simpsons screencaps never show up for me. I tried right-clicking on the one above and selecting 'view image', and got a 403 error.

TNA Russo'd
MVP turned heel and attacked Eric Young, naming himself number one contender for slamiversary.
wtf. not even trying anymore.
....oh god.
Eric Young retained the World Heavyweight Title over MVP by disqualification. MVP beat up Young before the match. Kenny King was there and attacked Young after the DQ. MVP demanded for a restart but the referee refused. King laid out the referee. Bobby Lashley’s music hits and he looks like he’s going to attack MVP and King but spears Young. Lashley puts Young through a pair of chairs. Impact ends with MVP, Lashley and King posing over EY.
From Reddit
Well, its been a whole six weeks without a major heel stable in TNA, they were obviously going through withdrawal.
Opinions are my own.
