Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

btw, TNA, ugh. Shit finishes and general meh/facepalm for this "PPV". Looks like the spoiler reports for next week are more promising though.

Cena-Bryan: ****½

Punk-Brock edges Cena-Bryan on audible spots.

Having watched Punk-Cena, and in order:
Punk-Brock ****½
Cena-Bryan ****½
Zayn-Cesaro ***¾
Punk-Cena ***½
Punk-Taker ***
Punk-Jericho **

Might be rating Punk-Cena a little low, just due to watching it on its own rather than in the context of the event, which for some reason makes matches harder to get into. It started out really well, but ended up the same finisher-burying mess big matches usually are. Cena no-selling Punk's knee in the corner made no real sense, and the finish was pretty abrupt. Made sense for him to use the Cenacan'trana, as the entire thing was built on the two guys knowing each other really well, so the unpredictability worked, but he then immediately got an AA for the win. Felt a little flat.

Nice. Recently upgraded to an IQ, so I'll probably put it to use for that.

Still not as wrong as having a 'suck my dick' match...between two male wrestlers. Now that is so wrong.

Did the commentator just called what she did a 'ballslam'?

Seems to me Daniel Bryan isn't even in the Royal Rumble.

I had low expectations for this angle from the get-go, but they've somehow managed to continue to sink below them.

EDIT: Started watching SmackDown. They've given Barrett a microphone and had him do commentary, via the PA, over the Miz-Clay match, in which he says it's terrible and people don't want to watch it. He's right, but not for the reason he thinks he is. Well, actually, he's right for that reason too, but still.

Lesnar-Big Show is actually the match I'm most looking forward to, which I didn't think would be the case when the angle started. The build's been really good, and given them things they can play off of. It's going to come down to the question of whether they can execute the same story over the course of a full match, rather than brief brawls. Presumably Lesnar is going over, to set him up for his title shot at Elimination Chamber. Doubt they'll turn him, so Cena becomes the favourite in the WWEWHC match.

Reading the live updates from Bleacher Report on the Royal Rumble PPV. The WWEWHC match seems interesting because of the crowd reactions. I bet Cena and Orton felt bad about it.

Also, Sheamus is back. The roster is getting crowded again.

EDIT: Batista wins the Rumble. Final three was Roman Reigns, Sheamus and Batista. Crowd was reportedly behind Roman Reigns.

I feel like I paid $34.95 to have Vince McMahon shit in my mouth.

15,000 people paid to see Daniel Bryan win the Rumble, Bryan wasn't even in the Rumble. Their reaction to that, and his not being in the title match, were the PPV's only redeeming features. The match I was most looking forward to essentially didn't happen.

Not ordering WrestleMania.

Okay so now Cena is gonna be feuding vs. The Wyatts, Brock will face Orton on the next PPV. Punk will perhaps take on Kane on the next PPV and then Triple H on WrestleMania. Batista will face the winner of Brock vs Orton. Where will Daniel Bryan fit in? Will he be facing Undertaker? When will he get the title run he deserves?

EDIT: Is Batista back because he's gonna be promoting Guardians of the Galaxy?

Daniel Bryan will never get that title run, I think that's pretty obvious by now. He's clearly more over than anyone else in the company, but they refuse to acknowledge that he exists.

That number 30 entrant killed the crowd, the PPV, everything.

Mick Foley @realmickfoley
Does @WWE actually hate their own audience? I've never been so disgusted with a PPV.
Daniel Bryan @WWEDanielBryan
Sorry guys, the machine wanted me nowhere near the Royal Rumble match. But I thank everyone for their support. YOU are the #YESMovement
Daniel Bryan @WWEDanielBryan

Lance Storm, meanwhile, is defending the entire thing, and astounded that anyone thinks Bryan ought to be pushed. Because PPV buys and TV ratings!

His entire main event push was a) during the NFL season and b) clearly building to a Rumble win and title win at WrestleMania. He was set up to fail from the get-go.

With Bryan stepped out of the Wyatt Family stable, you'd think it's a start of the long process for a Royal Rumble win and a WrestleMania main event match. Meh but no.

I also feel sorry for #30 guy because he probably would've thought the crowd is booing him.

AND THIS IS MY 6666TH POST!

They pretty much were. There was a massive pop when he got eliminated.

Also, when your main event world title match gets "this is awful" and "we want divas" chants, you fucked up.

Randy Orton: WWE Champion. Batista: #1 Contender. The New Age Outlaws: WWE Tag Team Champions. Hey, who's running the show again? I forget.

Dammit Triple H. If he's going to bring his friends back might as well bring in X-Pac too.
