In ESPN, the points league has playoffs, it's basically a 2 week head to head matchup instead of one. the default values for ESPN leagues count everything as 1 so stls & blks become useless and you rely on big-time scorers. What a terrible system.

as of right now, i think if a category gets replaced, it will be more likely oreb getting replaced than fgm. or what if oreb stays and rebs get changed to drebs?

Still the same (with my argument) since a dreb means the player already has possession and is linked to other possibilities that affect other stat categories reducing its 'independence'.

oreb where the possession in an oreb can have the possibility of it being a shot made, free throw attempt, assist, or even a turnover. The same possibilities about oreb can be said about the REB cat which adds more to the redundancy argument.

These change suggestions are getting silly.

The point of fantasy is about BALANCE. It isn't a matter of efficiency vs mass. It's a matter of having categories that represent the value that players provide statistically, in a balanced way. Adding more categories just complicates things.

Why add 3pt% when we already have 3pm and fg%? Sure, it fixes some mild deeper-level misbalances, if you really tunnel-vision-focus right into it. BUT IT CREATES MORE MISBALANCES ELSEWHERE.

Why have Oreb when we already have Reb?
By having both Oreb AND reb (instead of Dreb), we are actually counting offensive rebounds twice, giving misbalanced advantage to big men. I didn't want to say anything because it was fun using this to my advantage. But this is why i won the league when i did, because i saw the misbalance and exploited it. Everybody laughed at me for drafting Ryan Anderson so high one year... but since we had FGM and OREB (anderson doesn't get to the FT line at all, just gets field goals) his contributions were way higher than they probably should have been.
I'm in a league that has been running for about 7 years. We used to have Oreb too, but we removed it and went back to standard 9-cat, because our league was too big man orientated, and 9cat is way more balanced.
Having Oreb aswell as Reb or Dreb is just dumb imo.

If we're going to add 3pt%, Oreb, and FGM... shit, why not add A/TO, PER, Team W/L, double-doubles and Fouls too?
We'd be getting too deep and pointless if we add a billion categories. 9 is the perfect balance. Keep it balanced.

Also, what is this shitty W/L idea? If we do that, then you might aswell punt 4 or 5 categories, since good rounded talent on your team wouldn't matter anymore. Do you know how rare it is to come out with a team that wins more than 7 categories per week? Why would you want to eliminate that factor of scoring? If it's just 1 win or less every week, then the standings would be congested with too many ties, and it would not reflect which teams are actually better than others.

'Everybody' probably laughed at you for drafting a bench player (6th man at best) so high who previously never played more than 66 games and 24 mpg in his previous seasons but fortunately for you he became a starter, remained healthy, and given more minutes during that season. You took a gamble and it paid off.

Nic and I were the top two last season, yeah because we were bigs oriented team. Same reason I went for DeMarcus and Ibaka as my first two rounders again this season. I thought it'd keep me competitive in blk and oreb at least a bit no matter how the rest of draft goes down. Then I noticed some of you were unconsciously coming to realization how bigs were important and scarce in our league, that some of you guys were over-reaching too far down for decent bigs. It left me with great backcourt unit team in the end, . Same for Nic, he has great backcourt, shittier frontcourt now.

But I am against going down to 9 Cat, I'd rather have the league going up to 13. It just gives you more dynamic ways to manage your team. Exploiting the weakness in system isn't a bad thing, but a smart thing in fantasy league. There's risk involved in everything anyways.

If you want to balance out the league, just replace OREB with 3PT%. It's just easier to get away with hot hands on 3PT% than OREB. And I peronsonally want FGM gone, it doesn't do anything different(literally not in anything incl balance, pts scored). In its place, I'd have Free Throws Made, so it can punish teams that shoot a few but shoots high%. Just my opinion.

I guess we can let Qballer his commish-ass decide now. I think we have our input enough, his head probably is exploding at this point. We fed him too much info in little time. LoL

I agree with nick (surprise). 9 categories is good. And going with the balance theme- take out one starting center spot and removing an utility position would be grrrreat!

Taking out one center spot I think will change the entire landscape in favor of guards too much. Decent centers will be flooding in FAs. Removing OREB will be enough solution for the current big men problem imo.

Speaking of roster spots, if we ever get to 20 people league(as popularity's increased over the years), have you guys considered about reducing roster spots, so It could help accommodating more people while maintaining similar level of quality players on roster/FA market. Instead of 15, you could remove each back ups (-1G, -1F -1C, -1BN(or UTIL)), so each team gets 11 players instead of 15. This frees up 4 spots x 16 teams, thus 64 more available players for 4 new teams that will take 44 of them.

What is the basis of your over reaction, novu? A team could still stash at least 3 centers, even more if a pf has c eligibility, if one.center starting position is taken away.

Besides, its not relevant if there is a surplus of whatever position in the fa pool

Stashing 3 centers does nothing in favor of balance. You are punishing values of centers(or c eligible pfs) for others. You have 4 guards starting, 4 forwards starting, 2 centers starting right now, which I think is about right. In Yahoo 14 player default league setting, you have 3 guards, 3 forwards, 2 centers format. I just think it's back pedalling to have 4-4-1.

If you want to get rid of a center spot, we might as well get rid of 1 G and 1 F spot as well. If shortened rotation is the way you guys want to play for better quality players playing, this isn't a bad solution. I think it's definitely necessary if we want to increase to 20 players league. Otherwise, it's up to you guys how you guys want to play, I'm fine either way.

If I had top 5, I definitely would have picked Kevin Love because he shoots 3s and grabs you tons of board. If I had top 10, I would have picked Marc Gasol because bigs that gets you assists + steals are rare(yeah lucky I didn't). But fuck me I had the bottom pick once again this year. But at least nobody stole my Ibaka the next best thing. Then Cousins, Monta in 2nd and 3rd round. I would have never gambled my first round pick on Rose, Deron, Paul George(yeah I know), or Irving. - Who is Rolling With Royce? This team right now scares me the most at the moment.

- Los Toros actually has a decent team now especially after those couple trades he's made lately.

- Will It Shock or Freeze Division looks like a very weak division. Despite Oz's Legs is atop in the league atm, his actual numbers are quite underwhelming. Dark horse might be James Harden Beard team though, as he's stashing on Kobe and Rondo, lol. I foresee his mid season emergence, hope it won't too late though.

I have never wanted Kobe to play so badly. I am definitely counting on an emergence to at least make playoffs. With all the injuries I expected a slow start, but I didn't expect a 2-8 and 1-10 ass whooping to start off the season.
