KOBE IS THE BEST TWO-GUARD IN THE NBA RIGHT NOW!

BUT he still has a lot to prove

but as a devoted fan...I think this is hsi year! ANYONE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT?????

Sure- he was selfish but if he by all-star break MJ needed Pippen to win...he'll regret losing Shaq and maybe play better! I'm optimistic...GO KOBE!

I still can't believe he put Spudd Webb in the same category as MJ and Dominique...what'd you do, just look at the dunk contests of the 80's to see the great players?

I'm going to go for the West, based on the players...but...the two most likely teams to win the championship, however, are in the East, and that's the Pistons and now Miami. Shaq will have a great season, as he'll touch the ball every possession, and the wear and tear won't be as greaet on him as there aren't as many bruising players to take it out on Shaq this year round.

With that being said, the T-Wolves and Spurs are the only serious contenders out of the west. Dallas lost Steve Nash, the Lakers won't make it past the first round, and the Kings always fall apart. Houston might, but whether or not T-Mac decides to play D is yet to be seen, and if he'll let Yao average 25ppg.

Both conferences are pretty much equal, but the West has the most teams on the rises, but also the most teams rebuilding. Oh, I'll say it first...Utah will be a five seed or higher next year...and it'll be hard for teams to break 80ppg against them.

Statistically, McGrady owns him given he's A) younger & B) came into the league later than Bryant did.

If you even out the years, you get statistics which show McGrady > Bryant.

I'll ask Benji if he still has it...

Well it doesn't weaken them because they also got Carlos Boozer, Odom, and Kenyon Martin.

You can't compare stats like that.
Different role, different team,...etc.

McGrady owns Kobe, no. 3 championships and 0.
And because he is younger and came into the league after? 1 year difference!
And McGrady came in the raptors as kobe came in the lakers with shaq and eddie jones.

Ben did it in quite an effecient way, taking the games they played alone (thus Kobe - Shaq games)..

Did it per 40 minutes per game...

Championships 3-0?

You're measuring them by championships? In this case, Robert Horry is a better PF than Tim Duncan...

Fox is a better SF than KG.

Oh, and if you weren't so ignorant to read, I said statistically...

to some degree i understand your point but never bring championships in it...
then that means Darko is much better than LeBron, Carmleo, Wade,Yao, KG, tmac, and the list goes on

yet another reason tmacs better

when comparing great players championships only count when your the playoff mvp of your championship team. Sorry kobe, you're good, but not gonna happen baby.

anyway, back on topic, no, west still rocks east's ass in terms of the quantity of quality teams. East's higher tier 2 or 3 teams look pretty competitive though (who am i kidding, the champions are in the east, VERY competitive)

Yeah, didn't see statistically, it was late for me.

Anyway i used championships because i think kobe played an important role to win them (Shaq was the MVP but still, he didn't win it alone.).
We will see what happens now T-Mac has Yao, i think he will do fine.

And again i beleive you can't compare stats like that even if its 40 min and without shaq...etc.
How about what team they were playing with what players and at which moment of the season (like were they very motivated), were they 100% healthy, was the system all set for them? this could continue...
There are too many parameters (don't know if it's english) to compare stas even if you try to be the more efficient.

Argh, Tim Duncan, I hate that guy, can't he just crawl in a hole and die sparing us from more sissy moves.

yeah well his "sissy moves" have won him two championships in addition to his own personal accolades. (NBA All First Team Selections, NBA All Defensive First Team, All Star, Olympian, MVP, Finals MVP . . . )

And the award for "Most boring player of the league"

The West is still best. The best big men are in the west. The main big men in the east have headed west.Detroit is a favorite because they're a team. The West is best because they have stronger teams. And it will show this season when the West reigns supreme again

Tim Duncan is my favourite player to watch, if you think he's boring, your missing out. He's mastered every aspect of the game which is really amazing to see in this day and age.

He wasn't the league MVP for two seasons (2001-2002, 2002-2003) for nothing...he has mastered a hell of a lot more than his bank shot- rebounds, blocks, as well as being 2nd in the NBA's Efficiency Rating for the past couple of seasons...

(All this is what you get when I get bored  )

I think Detroit is going to have a reign on the NBA for a while. No team other than Denver has a deeper frontcourt or no team is better at shutting down the perimiter. Detroit had a winning record against the West without 'Sheed, so I feel good going into next season.

As for the East vs. West, thats 3 teams to what 5 or 6 teams? Why make the thread?
