Yours

VIDEOSETTING_SHADERDETAIL = 5
VIDEOSETTING_SIDELINECHARACTER = 0

go back to original values after i go back and check them after i exit/quit the game
default/original
VIDEOSETTING_PLAYERLOD = 0
VIDEOSETTING_STADIUMLOD = 1
VIDEOSETTING_CROWDDETAIL = 2
VIDEOSETTING_SHADERDETAIL = 1
VIDEOSETTING_SIDELINECHARACTER = 0

I've noticed with mine too. trying to figure a fix.

hi, thank you for helpful thread!

i tried many solution (game options and cfg file), but i cant' find the way to solve... in game, no problem (a little bit of stuttering, not really noising), but in match presentation, halftime, replays and close-ups, my 2k14 have a lot tearing problems.

these are my pc specs:

-processor: Intel Core i5 @ 3,6GHz (4MB cache L3)
-memory: 8GB SDRAM DDR3 @ 1333MHz
-video card: ATI Radeon HD 5670 with 512MB memory GDDR3

i know the weak link is the video card, but with 2k13 no problem at all and some users with a worse video card have no tearing problems...

can you help me, please, to solve the problem or tell me on wich values make some trials?

thank you all in advance for your attention...

leo27, welcome to the forums. Tearing comes from your graphics trying to render a frame before another one is finished, or before the monitor refreshes. V sync is the main setting that can stop tearing.

You can also experiment with video card settings like render ahead limit on nvidia cars cards or flip queue size on amd cards. Lowering them below 3 had been reported to help with screen tearing.

before all, thank you so much for your reply!

the v-sync is just activated from video options menu and it reduced the tearing, but not stopped it at all.

so, if my problem is only tearing (no stuttering), do you suggest to modify only render settings of video cards and leave the config file "as it is" or to try to modify both?

thanks again for your help...

I wouldn't change the config settings. In my experience it has only caused performance issues. Without vsync, one way to stop tearing is to keep the framerate slightly above or below the refresh rate of your monitor. The problem with vsync is if your computer cannot continuously draw 60 fps(assuming 60hz monitor), then it will drop to 30 for a moment and possible tear the screen in doing so.

If your frame rate was much higher than your refresh rate, look for a program that can limit or cap the frame rate for your videocard. That can cause tearing, but usually vsync works fine because performing higher than the refresh rate shouldn't result in dropped frames and you would get a smooth 60.

One last thing is that some monitors have a refresh rate of 59 and not 60. You might want to try changing the refresh rate in 2k13 and see if it does anything. Maybe use the force vsync from your videocard rather than turn it on from the game

Personally, I've had a lot of luck messing with video settings using a program called Radeon Pro. (http://www.radeonpro.info/)

Definitely check that out. Options to lock framerate to monitor's refresh rate, force triple-buffering, and forcing trilinear optimization helped smooth out my game. Before I started using Radeon Pro, on 2k13 I was getting oddly only like 35 FPS. I knew my hardware was capable of much more, so I looked into it and after using this program I found some significant gains. Not sure what my exact settings are, but play around with it.

Yep this is the solution. It also worked for me. :wink:

finally, i solved just setting the game in window mode!?!? now, i'm playing at maximum graphic details (except crowd, medium) and the tearing is disappeared. a little bit of stuttering in replays, but nothing much noising...

many thanks for your help pdub, i really appreciate it. have a nice day!

Setting "READ ONLY" is worthless...

The games still seems to override the modified config file and uses low quality characters.

Am I the only one whose gameplay got quicker when applying these changes? My fps are 38 like before the changes (wonder why they're so low) but I 'm playing with everything maxout except AA which is 4x 1. Any thoughts?

CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = 0
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = -1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = -1

What if in my default config.cfg I have only 4 of "cloth_logical_thread"
So I just change the values to 4 since I have 4 cores or I add the same amount or "cloth_logical_thread" as u have and with values 4??

I don't understand it because my config labels the cpu thread, the gpu thread, and all the cloth threads in numerical order matching the number of cores/threads my cpu can have at once. So that's six cores,and six threads. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and 0. I have an amd fx 6100 which has six cores.

I am willing to bet that this is placebo, and the game chooses cores and threads by default when you change the config like that. Only way to proove it would be with a monitoring app.

I'm not trying to discourage the effort, if anyone is wondering. If your game runs better like that than by all means, keep those settings.

You guys having like 8 gigs of ram and 4+ cores of cpu and god knows how strong graphic cards you have, you are writing in this topic :? Of course it is going to be a placebo for you, you can only mentally masturbate over this subject because your game is already working flawlessly :lol:

Because your graphic is fairly weak and your CPU isn't exactly cutting edge either. Can't hope for miracles here unless you play at the lowest resolution and settings.
