I don't mean to be a dick but I honestly don't see how that's anywhere near a 10 foot hoop. Solid dunks nontheless.

That's gotta be around 8 to 9 feet.

Dude, unless you're about 7 foot 4, there's no chance that's a ten foot hoop.

Anyway, some progress on my end. After my ankles went Steph Curry on me every few weeks last year (had eight sprains last year and a couple were pretty bad, couldn't play much and nearly had surgery), I've been pretty much healthy for close to a year and last week, for the first time my tiny 5'7 (maybe pushing 5'8 in shoes) 140lb body got up high enough to just barely touch the bottom of the 10' rim with my fingertips. That was a really good day and unfortunately I've not been able to replicate that since. I'm trying to at least get to the point where I can dunk a small ball (tennis ball, ping-pong, hell I'd be satisfied dunking a fucking marble) on a ten foot hoop. Once I can get that consistently, I'll get a video and post it here.

Just measured the rim at 9'6' and found out I've been dunking on a baby rim :(

there are some true height hoops in my city so I'll try to film something when I find the time.

Jao just a tip, try using your hands in a more explosive manner when jumping and do everything a bit quicker. Also if you do a good stretch it should add an inch or to to your vert.

I think he wants to see more assertive throw downs.

I just realized why I think you stop your momentum on your dunks. You talked about your awkward left-right step into your jump and I think that is why it looks like you are losing momentum into your jump. When we jump for one footed layups , we naturally take off from our left foot and release with our right, and vice versa, while landing on our right foot. It probably doesn't matter since you are jumping off two feet.

Geez guys. Not everyone's in their 20's and can run & jump the same way they did 10-20 years ago. I actually like Jao's dunks and vids more than simply run fast with ball in hand, and jump to dunk vids. You could actually tell Jao has shit load of basketball experience/skills from little movement like steps before taking off, moves that leads to dunk, dribbling, shooting motion, ball handling, how he doesn't over plays in 1 on 1, and such. Notice how nothing about Jao looks awkward in basketball senses unlike so many others w/ athleticism. He has a body/game of Center now, that's all.

Bingo. I'm doing more standing dunks, that is why my post dunks look the best. The few 1 footers I've done look impressive though. Trying to switch to the right-left footing, which most 2 foot righty dunkers do, will help a lot with the awkwardness and explosiveness. It will become more of a hop-step than anything.

I lol'd, sorry man, but this was me at my least awkward - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4BCnOGY ... lpage#t=91

Eh, erm, yeaaaa, I still play like PG, shoot too much, enjoy passing too much.

I appreciate it NovU, and I know you are trying to get an ally for GTAV NLSC Wars, but c'mon, make it less obvious. I am still very awkward, and the additional weight does play into that but it is something that has transcended my entire life. I have 'touch' in basketball, but I am still a hunched over slow player. Thank you again for the defense/compliments, but I do not feel I deserve them for that stuff at this time.

All this dunk talk and having not played in at least a year I tried to grab the rim in my driveway. I got it first try, amazed myself, then thought something was wrong. I grabbed it again, then found a tape measure. 9'6" The fact that I can get up that high without being athletically active as I used to be is a positive, though.

I got no vertical game, never had actually because of height deficiency. But still had quite a fun back in the days dunking on broken down 8 ft hoops, or by using trampolines and stuff. One trick I implemented to make it cool, LOL, was swinging arms violently after the dunk(stuff like... pulling the arm away hard from basket, not bringing arm straight down. spreading unused left arm while dunking.). Landing is bit tricky that way but it's still ok to fall as long as you make it look nice like Wade does all the time with swag. If I tried anything like that now, I will prolly suffer torn ACL.

Mine is probably from wear and tear. I just need a wrench to loosen the nuts, then push it up.

Working on the 'new' footwork. Its tough, I jump so much higher and easier left-right, but right-left feels and looks so much better. Sorry for not leaning sideways again Pat, I'll try and remember before I put the camera away next week.

Off one foot! Nice. Looks like you tried to get more emphatic with the finish as well. I think the right-left helps with that, too.

0:49 - I almost thought you were gonna go for a fadeaway, lil shoulder fake to the left, spin right for the fadeaway jumper, which is one of my favorite moves, lol.

Played with a couple 17 year olds at a playground yesterday...felt old as hell, and played in my street sneakers and jean pants....ugh, left ankle, ouch. So, a bit limited but I still did a lot of attempts. I really liked a couple of the left-right dunks today, but nothing else was good.

I'd say that's one of my favourite intros so far. You picked a good one for the official dunk of the week, too. I did like the one around 1:08 in the second video though, as well as the one around 2:07.

Cool. Jao at 280 would be a beast.

That's a lot of dunk attempts though. How are your knees holding up? Couple years back, I stopped using treadmill over eliptical because it's easier on joint, lol.
