That Baroness song is cool. They're playing at a bar right near my house in 2 days, might have to check em out!

You really should, their latest album is absolutely sick.

I'm not, I guess it always felt like too much hassle, but it does seem to have some cool features now that I check it out a bit more...

Here's a 24 min track that's too good for words.

I actually listened to the full thing of that. It gets so big! A few too many minutes of stillness for my attention span, but it certainly does make the contrast between ambience and instrumental more pleasurable. (love their cover art too)

Mate, if wasn't for last.fm, i wouldn't have discovered half the hidden gems that i currently know of. What it does is keep the stats of the bands you listen to on itunes or spotify (or whatever you use), and then recommends artists based on some algorithm that it uses. It's really really cool. It also lets you know when bands "in your library" are playing in your city. It tells your what your friends are listening to, etc. You should definitely get on it. And if you do, add me: http://www.last.fm/user/Frequensalad ...i'd be interested to see what your library looks like. (last.fm can input all the itunes plays of yours from the past too)

While i'm at it, my song of the day may aswell be of my own solo work. I wonder if it'll be up your alley.

The new BTBAM is pretty much on my every day playlists since it came out. Silent Flight Parliament is my personal favorite, followed by Melting City. Telos is kickass as well.

On a completely different note, here's the song that's been in my head all evening:

Ignore the lyrics in the video. They failed hard, lots of inaccuracies in the lyrics, but it was the only version I could find on youtube. I will also never figure out how this song didn't make their album.

Well, I created an account (under http://www.last.fm/user/elbadman), but I can't seem to be able to import shit for now, so I'm not too convinced. I'll need to check into this a little more, but since I don't have fucking iTunes and I really don't listen to music on my PC all that much, it looks like I'll have to download it straight on my Android-compatible mp3 player (my main source of music), that may work better.

In the meantime...

This is just one guy programming everything by himself, and all of his albums can be downloaded for free on his Bandcamp page.

I know Cloudkicker. He's actually what made me realise i can be a one-man band myself. We both use the same drum programming software. I've even chatted with him a bit through email about marketing etc.

Tyondai Braxton... the dude who left Battles and took away a key flavour along with him.

That's actually one of my favorites, much less self-indulgent and more focused than Frances The Mute and Amputechture in my opinion...
In any case, here's New Zealand's finest:
