Help please

I have always been a fan of the 2k NBA, so I bought it for my pc about a month ago.
This is a copy of the request I sent to 2k asking for help.

"I had installed this game and it didnt run very well and I also didnt have a controller, so I got a controller and some more RAM today and for some reason, it wouldnt run the game. It says I have the wrong disc inserted, I have a original copy of 2k12.
So i tried the 1.01 patch but that didn't work and then I tried uninstalling it and now it wont even run the setup.
Is there any easier way?"

That was from a week ago now so I guess they dont care.
I know this is a common problem as I have seen others with the problem, though I am unable to find a fix.

Can anyone help?

You don't have the original copy of the game, it seems. No help for you, at least not here.

I'm sorry I didn't explain myself properly.
I have got a LEGAL copy, as in, I bought it in a "EB GAMES" shop, in its original case with the serial number in the packet that I paid a lot of money for.

Its so wrong, I feel like I should take it back because the company making sure that I dont pirate the game is stopping me from playing the game that I legally own.

you should first make sure you are installing the right patch for the disc version, either North American or International versions. Also, if you are having a lot of issues, contact 2K support if a fan site such as here cannot give you the answer, support.2k.com

Thanks for the reply but I have done all those things that you have said there and on the other threads. Still I cant find a fix.
I have been working on this now for over a week and it seems like I just cant win.

Thanks for the help guys, SecuROM Support Team helped me out with a new exe for my program file and that seemed to work fine.
For others that may have the same problem, here it is.

Hello.

Your issue might be solved with an updated executable. Please perform these
steps:

1. Open the folder 'C:/Program Files (x86)/2K Sports/NBA 2K12/'
2. Rename the 'nba2k12.exe' to 'nba2k12.exe.OLD' in the folder above
(Right-click on this executable and go down to 'rename')
3. Download this zip-archive:
http://download.securom.com/support/005545/nba2k12.zip
4. Extract the new 'nba2k12.exe' from the downloaded zip-archive into the
folder 'C:/Program Files (x86)/2K Sports/NBA 2K12/'
5. Start the new 'nba2k12.exe'

If the problem persists, please send another analysis file of the new
'nba2k12.exe' to us.
