IF Shaq does get traded, he definitely will be heading EAST. The Lakers won't be stupid enough to trade him to another Western Conference team and potentially face him in the playoffs.
This could possibly a 3-way deal in the works. Where?...I don't know. Orlando might be trading McGrady...so they will need a superstar to replace him.
Maybe the Knicks could be interested. Would they be willing to let Marbury go?

That would be awesome. Kobe and Marbury in the backcourt. What if they add K-Mart too? *drools*

Im dreaming kobe is coming every night
why do u dream of Kobe...lol- just joking!

Anyway- The Lakers will resign Kobe bRyant. Kobe has already got one of his wishes come true- "Bye bye Phil Jackson"

If stays in LA which he will....Lakers may have to trade Shaq

I have some possibilities that i have come up with by reading different articles:

An Orlando- Lakers trade isn't very realistic. Orlando will need to get rid of too many players if they want Shaq....and T-mac on the same team. If they trade T-mac for Shaq...I dont think a Kobe-T-mac combo would work as well or better than Kobe-Shaq

So wat about this... Orlando trades: Okafor/Howard/Hill/Lue/Gooden for Shaq/Fox/Some mess... but after this Orlando won't be able to fill yp it's roster....

So wat about a three way trade betwwen LA, Orlando and the Pacers?

Think about this:

Lakers recieve Ron Artest, Harrington and Jonathan Bender
Pacers recieve T-mac
Orlando recieves Shaq
And try and make a trade based on that

Or the Lakers could look at a sign and trade deal to get rid of Kobe! Jerry West of Memphis wuld like that and offer the Lakers a group of young role players for Kobe.

Mark Cuban will be wanting SHaq and may even be able to trade Steve Nash, Antawn Jamison and anyone other than Dirk Nowitski for him.

The PHX Suns...the Lakers could trade Shaq for Shawn Marion and AMare Stoudamire or Orlando again could cooperate with LA and work a three way trade:

PHX get T-mac
Orlando get Shaq
Lakers get Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudamire
And work a trade out based on that

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the start of the season....maybe the LAkers could have a team like this:

At least this is what I'd like to see:

C: Bender
PF: Malone (Return to beat Abdul-Jabbar)
SF: Ron Artest
SG: Kobe
PG: Fisher (Convince him to return by guaranteeing starting PG)

5. Harrington
6. Payton (Tell him to return for a ring or leave...also to sit behind Fish on bench)
7. Devean Geroge
8. Walton
9. Cook
10. Medvedenko
11. That big South Korean Guy (Courtesy of Draft)
12. Rush

What do u think?

OR Another stupid roster could be:

C: Okafor
PF: Gooden
SF: Juwan Howard
SG: Kobe
PG:Fisher

5. Grant Hill
6. Rush
7. Payton
8. Malone
9. Medvedenko
10. Cook
11. Walton
12. Lue

OR A MORE REALISTIC ROSTER:

C: Shaq
PF: MAlone (He'll be back!)
SF: George
SG: Kobe
PG: Fisher

5. Rush
6. Medvedenko
7. Payton (If they convince him to return)
8. Cook
9. Walton
10/11: Draft Picks
12. A Free Agent

Basically last season's roster minus Rick Fox and maybe Payton and Fisher
I think that we will be needing a few PG's...

Why would Juwan Howard play SF? That was the problem this year, Gooden is more capable of playing the 3, but he's not a three either.

One of them has to and should be going in the off-season.

You can forget about LA taking on Hill or Howard. Hill is never gonna be the same or he may never play again. Howard is going downhill. I think LA will look for some young gun stars.

I doubt any of those trades would work. You're asking for young guys for a declining center. Ok, it's true Shaq is worth the young guys since he still dominates all the centers, but still. I doubt a franchise would be willing to give up their young guys for Shaq.

Kobe has more trade value, if that's not obvious yet, I'll just shutup.

We can't even really think about trades etc. Upfront trades are likely not going to happen, thus Player A for Player B. There are always players around them.

What I'm trying to say is:

Orlando trades: Okafor/Howard/Hill/Lue/Gooden for Shaq/Fox/Some mess

Fox? He's hinted at not returning, basically you cant really start thinking about trades before the player has actually said he will be on the roster next season.

By the looks of it, more then half of LA's roster won't be around. :?

Its messed up how it would take 4 or 5 guys or maybe the 3 best people on a team just for him.Im said to say it,but he gonna be stayin wit the Lakers. Why dont he stop bein greedy and take a little pay cut so teams wouldnt have to give up half their talent just for him.remember he's old too!!

That's what I thought when I first read about it, and I agree to a certain extent. But I think Shaq's main complaint is the way LA have gone back on their word, that he feels disrespected by the broken promise and their approach to re-signing Kobe.

I haven't always been complimentary of Shaq especially in regards to his attitude, and at various times this season I've predicted that the Lakers will need some damage control to lure Kobe back next season. However, reading the latest I'm starting to think Shaq has a point and that the Lakers have gone about the looming offseason the wrong way.

Part of me still doubts Shaq is going anywhere though. He has expressed a desire to leave before only to reconsider his position or deny having made such comments. As upset as he might be now, it could be the disappointment of losing in the Finals coupled with a poor choice of words on the part of Kupchak (though that's certainly giving Kupchak the benefit of the doubt).

Again, I'll have to see it to believe it.

No that one is a long shot one, it's not going to happen, and it's just stupid, who will be the second option, Marko Jaric?
Maybe they're trying to get rid of Shaq while also getting the Clipper team since Kobe wants to go there
Q-Rich could also be back, Shaq-Wilcox-Q-Jaric-Simmons?
I guess Kaman will also come off the bench now

contrary to popular belief shaq will probably go to the west because the east really has nothing to offer. Kupchamuck may be dumb, but hopefully he isn't stupid, you take the best deal you can. If everything were easy and beautiful the lakers would trade shaq to an already crappy team, but thats not happening because most crappy teams are crappy because their players are crappy and you dont trade diesel for crap. If the clippers did that deal it would basically be shaq and a couple of bafoons, if it were 2000 shaq i would take my chances, but a dimnished/ing shaq is a risk.

like i've been saying all along its either dallas or memphis because they have enough to offer without shocking their depth to a point of horrific proportions. Any team would probably make the playoffs regardless of who shaq plays with, but he would probably be outgunned in the playoffs with ease.

i'm also predicting that shaq's averages will revert to normal if he is traded, or will at least rise from what it was this season.

By Marc Stein
ESPN.com

The Los Angeles Lakers have taken the position that they will not trade Shaquille O'Neal to the rival Dallas Mavericks unless they receive Dirk Nowitzki as part of the exchange, team sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday.

O'Neal demanded a trade Friday in the wake of the Lakers' loss to Detroit in the NBA Finals and coach Phil Jackson's departure. Dallas is believed to be his No. 1 choice for a new home. Trade talks between the two clubs began Tuesday, but Lakers sources told ESPN.com that L.A. insists on Nowitzki as the staple of any package from the Mavericks.

Mavericks sources, meanwhile, maintain that Nowitzki is off-limits. Point guard Steve Nash, who will be a free agent July 1, would have to agree to join the Lakers in a sign-and-trade if included in an O'Neal deal. Asked specifically about Nowitzki at a charity news conference on Monday, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said: "I'd be hard-pressed to see us trading Dirk. Dirk is as close to untouchable as you can get."

Whether either team changes its position likely will depend on how forcefully O'Neal pressures the Lakers to move him, and how tantalized the Mavericks become if the possibility of acquiring Shaq becomes more real.

Amid growing belief around the league that the Lakers are serious about honoring Shaq's trade request -- with the Clippers emerging as a possible trade partner -- O'Neal can try to influence where he lands because of an opt-out in his contract next season. Although the Lakers technically have the freedom to deal O'Neal anywhere, O'Neal does have some of the same leverage Tracy McGrady possessed in pushing for a trade to the Houston Rockets. That's because any team willing to give up enough in a trade to take on Shaq's $27.7 million salary for next season must also have confidence it will be able to re-sign him in the summer of 2005, or else it will be paying a hefty price to risk having O'Neal for only one season.

Hey think about it:

T-mac goes to Houston and so a T-mac for Shaq trade isnt possible

Francis goes to Orlando but winges about playing in a rebuilding program

Shaq demands a trade...Dallas won't deal Dirk- Shaq may want to go home!

Can't LAkers get Francis and other players including No. one pick for Shaq?

(That's also only happen if a three way trade can be arrnaged!)

I can't see Francis and Kobe playing on the same team... not before, not now, and not ever.

Besides, the Lakers have already heard from Payton saying he's going to return, so why bring another PG into the mix?
