You can't be a bust coming basically out of high school is what we could say for him, even a year less after your first year.
You can call him a bust after 3 years.

believe it or not its true :(

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Darko Milicic broke his hand in a token appearance in the Detroit Pistons' NBA title clincher, an injury that could jeopardize his chances of playing for Serbia in the Olympics.

The second overall pick in the NBA draft was hurt at the end of the fifth and final game of the NBA Finals. It is not clear when during the game the injury occurred. He missed Thursday's parade celebrating the team's victory.

The 7-footer, who will turn 19 on Sunday, had surgery on the hand Wednesday, said Detroit president of basketball operations Joe Dumars.

The team said he is expected to miss eight weeks.

Milicic barely played as a rookie. He had told the Pistons he wouldn't play for their summer-league team because he wanted to focus on his hopes of playing in Athens.

man it pisses me off how some of you can already label darko a bust.. give the kid a break, he's still in his first year.. if you already consider him a "bust" then i guess jermaine, kobe, t-mac are also one eh.. w/ what joe d has done for the pistons i wouldnt be surprised one bit if darko turns out to be an awesome player for the pistons one day

lol, everyone always gives everyone a hard time if they don't perform too well and don't show the potential in games. You are labeled a bust until you prove you aren't is what I think :D
No one is goign to say Darko is good yet, because he hasn't shown it yet, then again, he hasn't played much yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if he does get to be a super star one day...working out with Ben Wallace is a good start to that. Before you know it, he will be pushing Yao Ming around :)

yeah, give this kid a break. He's 18, and he's already playing with the best of the best. Ben Wallace wasn't even good enough to be drafted, and look at him now. If anyone can help Darko, it's The Beast. I'm sure that having 'Sheed around doesn't hurt either.

The top three picks in one of the most hyped drafts in NBA history...

I've already seen that Lebron and Carmelo will be great players in this league. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing most would agree with me on this one.

Everything I've seen so far tells me that Darko will not be as great. I could be wrong, but so far, it doesn't look like he'll be remembered as a player in the same calibre as James and Anthony.

But one thing I AM sure about is that Darko will retire with at least a ring and the other two MIGHT NOT.

P.S. How do you actually suffer a serious injury averaging two minutes a game? I mean, literally, how do you do it? He plays so little the sheer mechanics of it is mind-boggling. (borrowed from Austin Powers)

well, i'm sure once Darko stops growing and his body builds more muscle (even though he's already put on about 20 pounds of muscle, not fat, hear that Shaq? MUSCLE. get on a damn bike and stop eating so much.) He'll start developing very fast. All scouting reports said he had a great shooting touch and a nasty streak inside the paint. They may just be scouting reports, but they HAVE to mean something. Ne ways, my point is that next year he's gonna look kinda dumb. Oh well. This is what you get when you get the youngest player in NBA history.

Darkos problems when he arrived in the league was endurance and inexperience

1. he had no endurance, in interviews he said that after 2,3 mins he was already tired so even on a lottery team i don't know how much he could play

2. he has no USA ball experience and is fighting a language barrier as well

3. Darko has to play against Rasheed and Ben and he's taught by L Brown.....now that has to be beneficial

i for sure belive it way to early to diss Darko, plus, have some trust in Joe Dumars.
When he got Ben he was critcised, when he got rid of Stak he got criticised, when he fired Carlile he got criticised. And now he passed on Camelo because of Prince. Im sure he knows what jes doing with darko. Even if Darko is a bust he did a good job of not selecting Melo coz look how Melo played in playoffs and look how prince played in even his 1st playoffs!

Same thing I said, but Kobe and Tmac weren't bad in their rookie years.

Tmac averaged 7.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.77 steals and 0.95 blocks in 18 minutes of play (64 games), and Kobe had 7.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assits in 15 minutes of play (71 games).

It's not the same at all, even Jermaine O'neal averaged 4.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.58 blocks in 10.2 minutes of play (45 games).

But like I said, he was even a year younger than those guys coming in so next year should really be considered his first comparison year to any highschool guys first year.

Hey joe d has done a pretty good job in the D i think we gotta give him the benefit of the doubt on not drafting Carmello and if you think of it this way with carmello they might not have traded for sheed and then i dont think they get rings plus Darko could be going to your High School and couldnt even drive until this year so lets give him 2 or 3 years before we start labeling him. I think these people know what theyre doing they dont just say hey that european guys is tall lets draft him
o ya LAKERS SUCK GO PISTONS AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH

You can't even compare the rookie seasons of Carmelo and Lebron to Darko. Look at the teams they played for down in the dumps Denver Nuggets and crappier than crap itself Clevland Cavaliers. Of course Lebron and Carmelo are gonna play a lot, and of course they are gonna look really good. On the other hand, Darko played for Detroit, and team who didn't suck in previous years, had made it pretty far into the playoffs the previous years, plus he is behind Big Ben and the others. Like others said, trust Joe D, he seems to know what he was doin. He passed up on Carmelo because of Tayshaun, seems to have been a pretty good idea to me. If you think about it, if Detroit had taken Carmelo instead of Darko, they may not have won the NBA Championship, and for one big reason. Not because Darko contributed a lot to the season, but because they didn't have Carmelo's ego and Kobe like selfishness to ruin the team chemistry they had. If Detroit had taken Carmelo, he most likely would have played, because he is a good player, and can score lots of points. However, he would have ruined the Pistons team play on offense, and severely lessened their ability on defense. Sorry, but for defense I would take Tayshaun over Carmelo any day. So, with that in mind, then Pistons would've been a whole lot like the Lakers, except with one big scorer instead of two. No, I think Darko was a good choice, and I think he could develop into a very good player. Just give him a chance.
