I think they should keep the pick. Look at the talent this year in the draft. They could get a future superstar.

iMO harrington is a tweener and as someone mentioned earlier, the bulls have enough of those. a c/pf combo of curry and al would be terrible on defense

the bulls biggest need is a SF who can hit the perimeter shot. they can do better in another deal if they choose to trade the pick

the only deal i consider doing with indiana is if artest is involved

if the clips draft howard or even livingston, just as long as it is not a SF, then bulls will be in a good position. i would be content with the drafting of deng. i would be happier if they were able to rid themselves of a bad contract like jyd or erob + 3rd pick for the opportunity to draft both luke jackson and kirk snyder.

Even though I'd rather the Bulls keep the pick, it certainly would be worth trading it if they could get a great deal. I definitely do not think this scenario is the right deal.

andrew- who you do think the Bulls should pick (assuming okafor/howard are off the board) at 3?

and if the bulls were to trade the pick and assuming the deal is 'even', specifically what kind of deal would you do? trade down a few spots and at the same time get rid of contract? altogether trade the draft pick + a bad contract for an established player? if so, who??

As far as a trade goes, I'd include the third pick in a deal that landed a young (though established) star player; say, Kevin Garnett. That's not too realistic, though. I can't come up with any other scenarios at the moment.

I like the idea of taking Deng with the third pick, even with the history of the Duke curse and his numbers are solid, but not necessarily spectacular.

then start doing your HW
the same goes to rest of the bulls fans here, non bulls fans too. i'd like to get this topic going with the draft only 9 days away.

i'm anxious to see how deng's workout with the Bulls goes. i'm split between taking him at 3 or trading down a few spots to draft Iggy and getting a little something else in return

Could Deng be the offensive minded small forward the Bulls need though? I was looking at his statistics and 15 ppg is certainly solid, though a little modest. He seems to shoot a nice percentage though, and his scouting report (taken from this profile) suggests he has pretty good range, too.

So if the Bulls hold on to the third pick, I think Deng would be the best option. At least, I'm inclined to think that way, unless there's something else I should know.

Some of my ideas may be trades for the pick, or for Bulls players, or a combination of both :) Some have already been mentioned by the media or been previous possibilities. I look forward to having them all shot down one by one :P

Dallas will probably be listening to all offers which might mean that Michael Finley, Antawn Jamison and Antoine Walker will be available. I like Finley but it might be getting a little late. I think the 3rd pick and Antonio Davis should cover any of those salaries. Antoine Walker though... (n)

The Clippers had a poor season; could be looking to change a thing or two and though Corey Maggette won't be available wouldn't we like to have him! There's always Quentin Richardson.

Vince Carter might be available due to the raptors lack of directions, but the Bulls already have enough former Raptors, and should be looking for guys who actually play.

I think Stephen Jackson is a free agent?

Wally Szserbiak had some descent games in the playoffs I think, and people seem to have forgotten about him. With him and Kirk Hinrich starting the Bulls would need somebody athletic on one of the wings :)

I remember reading somewhere, now that Mephis made the playoffs they might be looking to change a thing or two in order to take the next step. Bonzi Wells, Shane Battier, Mike Miller - another guy who has been somewhat forgotten.

Could the Jazz be willing to part with Matt Harpring? They have Kirilenko at the 3 already. Harpring was out for a while and could be another forgotten man.

Who knows what the Sonics will do, keep Ray Allen or Murray? Brent Barry (former Bull) would probably be useless to the Bulls, while Vladimir Radmanovic would be nice but is he a PF or a SF? He can shoot it though! The Sonics also have a few (sometimes injury prone) back up type centres don't they? This could come in handy since the Bulls don't have one! There's probably plenty of opportunities with Seattle. They also have Antonio Daniels (another forgotten man). (Off topic: If seattle held on to Lewis, Allen and Daniels or Barry, the third pick might be useful to them depending on the availability of front court players)...

plenty of rambling here, if you've read this far, might as well keep going!

I remember reading somewhere Toni Kukoc, former defensive player of the year, wouldn't mind finishing his career with the Bulls if it came down to that. Well... we never like him that much but if we can get him from the Bucks cheap: he can still shoot it an pass it. You still need good veteran reserves, the Bucks have a couple. Gotta keep your eyes on the prize, but don't forget solid reserves :)
Keith Van Horn will probably be on the choping block again, but fuck him. Desmond Mason anyone? Can't shoot but atleast he's athletic :D

It's getting late, and I'm talking shit, and done brain storming for now.

I'm out like Karl Malone's hopes. Good night! :)

I know im a lil late on the discussion but I really dont see Pacers trading up that high in the draft because there are no immediate impact lottery pick shooting guards which is what the pacers need. You could say ben gordon but hes a bit too small to play the sg and would be a defensive liability. Josh Smith is more of a project at Sg and wont be ready to fully contribute for another couple years at least. There just arent enough options at Sg for the pacers to take this deal.

I see the pacers trading Al Harrington and either Bender or Artest to get a legitimate Sg to start in place of Reggies spot. There was a very recent article in the Indy Star that claims that Mcgrady is on the market and the pacers are interested.

"We could make it work, absolutely," Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh said Tuesday. "I have spoken to somebody in their organization, and I sensed there was interest there. What they're telling me is, there's a good chance he's going to be traded. So, yeah, a player like that out there, we're definitely going to be interested."

How to do it?

McGrady's salary cap number is around $14.5 million. The Pacers would have to send Orlando players whose combined salaries fall within 15 percent of that number. So it's like this: Start with Al Harrington ($6.3 million), who will get traded in the media no fewer than 50 times this summer. Then it's an issue of deciding who that second player might be.

Jonathan Bender ($6.5 million)? That would be my preference, but it might not be Orlando's choice.

Ron Artest ($6.2 million)? That would be hard to swallow, but for McGrady, it's a deal I'd make, however grudgingly.

It's a price worth paying to have the Shaq-and-Kobe of the East.

The Pacers are interested in McGrady, and should be interested in McGrady. And Walsh made it clear Tuesday, he and Larry Bird are willing to move anybody except O'Neal if it means making a deal that catapults them past Detroit.

"Is anybody untouchable?" Walsh was asked.

"No," he said. "No one. Except Jermaine. He's our franchise player."

Not Artest?

"No," Walsh said.

Not Bender?

"No."

I really hope the Pacers can pull off a trade to get Mcgrady. Maybe it will turn out like Detroit and Rasheed.

There is only 1 guy the Bulls should keep their eye on and thats T-mac. You land T-mac and the Bulls are back on the map. We need a franchise player not a good or above average player. We couldn't get T-mac the first time because of that fat fuck Krause but now the front office is a bit different. Give the magic Crawford, the number 3 and throw in Eddie Robinson.

Yeah that could be nice T-Mac, Curry Chandler Hinrich developing...T-Mac has said he wants to win though and not wait for players players to develop...

keep in mind that deng got those stats as a freshman playing in duke's system and also coack k seldom starts freshmen

draft city and some of the posters at bulls forum at bbb.net have some good information on possible draft choices for the bulls. i think you should check those sites out. maybe you'll change your mind on deng being the best option

mr rambler :) : stephen jackson is a FA and i would like the bulls to go after harpring as well. something like 3rd pick+bad contract for harpring+one of their first round picks (hopefully luke jackson or snyder)

Jerry west has been making inquiries about eddy Curry. the fact that west wants curry means the bulls should keep him

Orlando has to get at least an star back if they are going to deal TMAC. for the bulls, they'd have to trade 3 out of this group to land him: curry, chandler, hinrich, crawford. ironically that would put tmac in the same situation as he was in orlando. he'd opt out of that situation in a hearbeat as well.

if orlando does a deal with indy, artest has to be included in the deal...
