Draft picks, measured, weighed and ready for purchase

The NBA finished it's Chicago Pre-Draft Camp yesterday...including one of my personal favorite events of the year...the weighing and measuring of all draft prospects. It's interesting to see who is taller than advertised and who tried to cheat on their listing.

The ones I found interesting...

Barrett, Andre - 5' 8.75'' in socks, 5' 9.75'' in shoes

I had always assumed that he was 5'8" and lied about his height to be listed at 5'10." Guess not.

Luol Deng came up exactly as advertised, at 6'7" in socks, 6'8" in shoes and exactly 220 pounds. Bo-ring! However, amazingly, his standing reach is just over 9 feet. (I watch that instead of wingspan because standing reach just takes into account arm length and not broadness of shoulders).

Dwight Howard, 6'9" in socks, 6'10.25" in shoes, 240 pounds, with a 9'3.5" reach. That makes him at least an inch shorter than Kwame Brown, but 6'10" 240 is still standard size for a power forward. I doubt that he'll have much impact.

Kris Humphries came up MUCH bigger than advertised. He was thought to be 6'8" but measured 6'8.25" in socks...and 6'9.5" in shoes. So he'll be listed at 6'10!" (NBA players are listed with their height in shoes and half-inches are rounded up.)

Shaun Livingston was 6'6.25" in socks, 6'7.5" in shoes...so he's 6'8"...even bigger than people thought.

We can finally put all the argument about Emeka Okafor's height to rest. He was 6'8.5" in his socks and 6'10" in shoes (must've been some high shoes)...so he IS 6'10"...nothing to worry about Orlando.

J.R. Smith was 6'5.5" in socks, 6'6.75" in shoes, so he's 6'7"...bigger than advertised.

Man, they have high shoes!

whoa, look at deng gai!! 6'7.5 w'o shoes, 6'9 with shoes, 7'4 wingspan, 9.25 standing reach! what a freak! okafur looks like he has the size to be a decent shot alterer. if i were orlando i'd pick up okafur automatically, if i were the clippers id pick up livingston, chicago might grab deng because they dont want another high schooler....... howard could drop to 4th. He's a big risk, he's either gonna have hard work ethic and develop into a star or becoming super nothing man. Of course, the truth is howard will probably go 2nd, because teams can't pass up on size and potential (plus everyones subtly billing up his religous furvor = good work ethic, which may be true). Livingston may be thin as a rail, but he's young, he can fill out, and man, he's tall for a guy who has at least SOME point guard skills. Charlotte is lucky! and if he goes to charlotte he'll have oppurtunity to grow.

i think podkolzine might go a little higher than 15 though, just gut instinct.

do you know prince's wingspan, standing reach, height with and without, etc.? Is there a webpage with that stuff? it would be interesting to see. I'd also like to see pippens, and yao mings, and camby, and garnett, etc.. these guys are gorillas

Yea I checked this yesterday, Kris Humphries measured at 6'9.5", almost 6'10, and for guy that was said to be undersized, about 6'8, and people were scared he's have to be a SF, this really brought his stock up.

Highlights:

Josh Childress came out with a faily expected 6'11 wingspan

Luol Deng had a 7'0.5" wingspan and a 9'0.5" standing reach which was also expected.

Ryan Gomes had an impressive 7'2 wingspan to his 6'7.75" frame, and weighed in at 248 lbs.

Ben Gordon was measured at 6'2 and a quarter, and Devin Harris 6'3, but Gordon had an inch more on his wingspan, 6'8.5" to 6'7.5", and weighed in at 192 lbs in comparison to a small 170 lbs by Harris. (I'm 6'0 with shoes, and 176 lbs, so it's small)


Kris Humphries measured at 6'9.5" with shoes, and their was speculation about him being undersized, and even as small as 6'7, but this will help him. He also recorded an impressive 7'5.5" wingspan.


Andre Igoudala measured out at almost 6'7, 6'6.75" to be exact, and he recorded and impressive 6'11 wingspan.


JR Smith was measured at 6'6.75, same as Igoudala, which is good because he was said before to be 6'5, and he also had a 6'10 reach. He also weighed 227 lbs which is a good showing that is body is ready, but the mental aspect is a whole new story.


Josh Smith was measured to have a 6'11 wingspan, which was expected, his length has been one of the rave's about him.

Yeah i saw this a few days ago. Great news for Kris Humphries' stock, good news for Okafor. Not so great for Dwight.

I find it interesting that Shaun is bigger than what they said. That's pretty amazing if you ask me.
