Here are some talks of big named players that might not be protected in the Charlotte Expansion draft which is to be held on June 22nd.

Washington:

According to the source -- who did not want to be identified because the list of unprotected players is supposed to remain confidential by league rules -- Washington plans to protect guards Gilbert Arenas, Larry Hughes and Steve Blake, forwards Kwame Brown, Jared Jeffries and Jarvis Hayes and centers Brendan Haywood and Etan Thomas. The only other players under contract are Stackhouse, Dixon and Laettner.

Knicks:

Thomas told the players - whom a Knicks official said included Allan Houston, Shandon Anderson and Penny Hardaway - they were being left unprotected in the expansion draft later this month.

Nets:

The Nets are expected to leave Kerry Kittles unprotected; Kittles was a starter and key player in the their recent postseason success. Alonzo Mourning is on that unprotected list also.

Dallas:

The buzz among general managers was that the Dallas Mavericks were not protecting point guard Marquis Daniels

Golden State:

Seven choices for protection are clear: Speedy Claxton, Jason Richardson, Mickael Pietrus, Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Clifford Robinson and Erick Dampier.

That leaves Van Exel and Evan Eschmeyer.

These are just rumours, but it's to get the jist of it.

Detroit & the Lakers are the only teams that don't have to send in a list before the deadline, they are allowed to send in a list of unprotected players 24 hours after the championship is won.

Mavericks will certainly leave unprotected Tariq Abdul-Wahad, Shawn Bradley and Travis Best. They won't be fool enough to leave unprotected a young potential with low salary, which is exactly what the Bobcats are looking after.

Bobcats should pick up Dixon. I think he has a potential to become a star but Washington never really gave him that chance. If you think about it, half of the guys in the Wizards roster are new and upcoming players. Each one of them is trying to be the "leader". It limits playing time and development certain playres.

If I were GM of the nets, I would like to hold on to Kittles too.
I mean, he's been a starter for quite some years now and I think he's doing a solid job.
He's a solid role player who puts up good defense and can produce scoringwise too if he needs to.
I think Cleveland will protect Ilgauskas, but you never know off course.

The buzz among general managers was that the Dallas Mavericks were not protecting point guard Marquis Daniels

Antoine Walker heads the list of players the Mavericks left unprotected for the upcoming expansion draft, according to league sources. In addition, Charlotte can choose from a list that also includes Tony Delk, Danny Fortson and Tariq Abdul-Wahad.

The chances of the Bobcats selecting Walker, set to earn $14.625 million in the last year of his contract, appear slim. The league's 30th team has to pick at least 14 players, each off a different team, June 22 (or June 23 if the NBA Finals go seven games). Charlotte received unprotected lists from every team Friday with the exception of Finals participants Detroit and the Los Angeles Lakers.

If the Bobcats decide to choose from the Mavs' available players, adding Delk ($3.15 million) could make more sense than choosing Walker, Fortson ($5.92 million) or Abdul-Wahad ($6.75 million). Walker, however, is an attractive asset to trade before or during the season.

Isn't Marquis Daniels an unrestricted FA, he's only been with the Mavs for one year and was just under baically a tryout contract.

The Magic, according to league scources, will not protect DeShawn Stevenson, Reece Gaines, Zaza Pachulia and Britton Johnsen in the expansion draft. Stevenson, a restricted free agent who was acquired in a midseason trade for Gordan Giricek, was a surprise choice. The expansion Charlotte Bobcats can take up to one player from each team. . . . Duke guard Chris Duhon, who is on the Magic's second-round radar, also is scheduled to work out June 18 in Orlando.

T-Mac's Quandary

An interesting move by the Magic which I didn't think would happen, leaving DeShawn Stevenson unprotected.

Though the lists are supposed to be top secret, league sources report the three players under contract off the Cavaliers' list are Kevin Ollie, Ira Newble and Jason Kapono.

TREPAGNIER UNPROTECTED: The Nuggets, as expected, left sparingly used guard Jeff Trepagnier exposed Friday when they submitted their list of eight protected players to the NBA for the June 22 and June 23 expansion draft.

Trepagnier is a restricted free agent. If taken by Charlotte, he'll become unrestricted but can't return next season to Denver.

The Charlotte Bobcats received an expansion draft list of available players Friday that likely included Jahidi White and Howard Eisley of the Suns.

The Nets' GM is in quite a fix according to some articles, talks are on between NJ and the Seattle Sonics, Ray Allens name has been mentioned quite often. Ofcourse they are in a fix because the deal would send Kittles to Seattle. Word is Seattle wants to give Murray a bit more playing time, with Barry and Allen around, it won't happen all that soon. Barry doesnt have much trade value left, so the only other logical choice would be to ship Allen out.

They are also having talks with Portland...about a deal that would include Kittles & Abdur-Rahim.

So now they don't know what to do... leave Kittles unprotected in the draft, trade him to Portland or trade him to Seattle?

well the Nets have to have a contingency plan in case Martin leaves. Will the Nets pay the big bucks? they already have huge contracts tying them down.

When's RJ's contract ending? Would Nets rather give him more $$$ than Martin?

Maybe Martin will (if he leaves at all) go to NY, no doubt they'll pay if they could, but they only have $5mill available

Their has been a list let out by the Charlotte Observer with confirmed players to be available in the Expansion draft, their might be some surprises.

Highlights, I'm not going to post every team:

CHICAGO: Antonio Davis, C-F, 6-9, 35; Ronald Dupree*, F, 6-7, 23; Marcus Fizer*, F, 6-8, 25; Scottie Pippen, F-G, 6-8, 38; Eddie Robinson, F, 6-9, 28; Jerome Williams, F-C, 6-9, 31.

If Marcus Fizer is chosen he will become an unrestricted FA making him open market for any team but the Bulls to pursue him.

INDIANA: Jamison Brewer*, G, 6-4 23; Primoz Brezec, C, 7-1, 24; Austin Croshere, F, 6-9, 28; Anthony Johnson, G, 6-3, 29; James Jones, G, 6-4, 25; Scot Pollard F-C, 6-11, 29.

Brewer could be a decent pickup for the Bobcats, but they can only make him unrestricted then hunt him down in the market. James Jones could also be a pretty decent pick, both young guys.

L.A. CLIPPERS: Matt Barnes*, F, 6-7, 24; Keyon Dooling* G, 6-3, 24; Predrag Drobnjak, C, 6-11, 28; Eddie House, G, 6-1, 26; Josh Moore*, C, 7-2, 23.

I didn't know Matt Barnes was a restricted FA, but I really like him and wouldn't want him to go, the Bobcats could make him unretainable by the Clips if they select him.
Keyon Dooling, me an many other Clipper fans are saying good ridance, he needs to go somewhere else but he's not going to do anything in LA. He's a restricted FA so if the Bobcats select him he just become open market to all but the Clippers.

A surprise to me here with Troy Bell being left open, I actually had Dahntay Jones going to the Bobcats in my mock expansion drafts so that's no surprise. I think he would be a good pickup.

Haha, New York is really hoping high with these 2 guys.

ORLANDO: Reece Gaines, G, 6-4, 25, Britton Johnsen*, F, 6-10, 24; Zaza Pachulia, C, 6-11, 20; DeShawn Stevenson*, G, 6-5, 25.

Orlando is leaving some decent talent available in those three, hmm Gaines, Johnson or Stevenson? I think Stevenson has gotten a one way ticket out or Orlando, he might not go to the Bobs, but he's likely not going to be back in Orlando. The Bobcats could also play it safe and pick Gaines because then he goes directly to their team instead of them having to try to sign him in the market like with Stevenson and Johnsen.

SEATTLE: Calvin Booth, C, 6-11, 28; Jerome James, C, 7-1, 28; Richie Frahm*, G, 6-5, 26; Vitaly Potapenko C-F, 6-10, 29.

Not a bad pickup if they can get him in the market, I was hoping the Raptors could get him in free agency which is still possible, but good shooter, good defender, and still fairly young, the Bobcats picking him would just make him an unrestricted FA though.

WASHINGTON: Lonny Baxter*, F, 6-8, 25; Juan Dixon, G, 6-3, 25; Christian Laettner, F-C, 6-11, 34; Jerry Stackhouse, G-F, 6-6, 29.

Well this was the list I expected, and as much as I want to see Stack gone, I see it more likely to be Juan Dixon getting swiped.
