1st/3rd quarter CTD after commercial (3 possible solutions)

I haven't had the time to try both of them but i will today.. I don't know what to do, but i want to play this damn game.. Have you tought about its maybe a crack thing or something? This is really annoying -.-

Has anyone contacted 2k about this issue? I mean I can't seem to figure it out myself. I tried everything from deleting all the nba2k files even on the %appdata% files. I even tried installing an previous version of AMD CCC driver, I tried doing the things you guy have mentioned on this topic. ALL FAIL. Im tired of this crap. I mean I never came into this issue since the last update we received. I even tried not letting it update itself. Online mode / Offline mode... all just a failure. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR im getting sick of this. Im in my finals on myplayer and I cant even finish this darn game. Heck even myassication doesnt work anymore. zero nada. Im sick and tired im done.

Try it with the original exe and the disc in the drive and see if it still crashes.

I tried this(from the nbaspot.com site, usercyber4 wrote it down):
1. Block nba 2k12 in your firewall
2. Disable antivirus
3. run memo alloc set to 500mb
4. run nba 2k12
5. Set priority to high via task manager
- alt + tab
- find nba 2k12 process, and right click
- set priority to high
6. after finishing 1st quarter let the ads load and skip when the two logos appear(same thing
during 3rd quarter).

I started a new association and put 1 min qtr and took Celtics.. I actually finished the first quarter and i was so happy and started a new association with Pistons and it just crashed( i put 7 mins, and all the settings i wanted). I tried again with the 1 min qtr and it again crashed.. I'll try tomorrow this again, i'm angry right now. Anyway, its worth a try..

I believe I figured it out! It has something to do with your My Player Shoes that you win by making it your own shoe.


***BACKUP YOUR FILES***
1. Go to the start menu
2. Under the search window type in %appdata%
this will access to your nba2k12 folder as for saving files
3. open 2k Sports folder
4. open NBA 2K12 folder
5. DELETE the shoes folder.
6. Make sure you have deleted the shoes folder in your recycle bin.
Final start the game, and start my player.

**This worked for me and now im back to my player playing my game.... YES THANK YOU!***
This is done without doign the high priority for nba2k12.exe and this is done WITHOUT MemAlloc
I really dont care about my shoes in my player because they're just attribute boost and they're not that useful after you set that attribute to max.
make sure you have backup your files before doing this just incase it doesnt work for you. (it works for me)

What I have said above... is a FAIL. at 2nd quarter it brought me back to my windows screen.

I repeat I have tried everything again just to make sure I didn't miss anything this time.
I have a copy on my laptop (Steam copy) and I never updated that laptop as far as NBA2k12 goes. AND THAT STILL WORKS....... Im not sure what is going on. Either my PC got something, i truly doubt it because well I know a lot about pc and very careful what I do but I can say this last time i download something that was a .exe or a .bat file was from here which was for a global mod. NOT SAYING it was a virus nor it brick my computer or my nba2k12 experience, but something is strange about it though. Because everything seem to work fine before installing that .bat file so it can update leftos global file. BUT AGAIN this can just be me going crazy and trying to pin point the cause of it and it could be just simply 2k's fault or myself for the lack of paying attention to what mods I have installed. Even though I thought every mod only changes nba2k12 files and nothing else on the windows file system. With that said i figure if you delete everything on the nba2k12 folder and the mods pretty much you can do a clean install from STEAM. Or even let STEAM try to redownload the files you have changed.

This is my last resort and I really don't want to do this but I think I am going to do a wipe my drive with zeros and do a clean install of windows 7 then go on from there. I will keep you guys updated after I backup all my documents before I do a clean install of Windows and everything else. If this doesn't work I WILL DEFIANTLY CALL IT QUITS, we'll have to see...

im not sure if this should be discussed here, but im having a problem during the halftime report. My game crashes after the player comparison, once the logos of the hawks and the bulls show...

I tried both of these fixes, none worked..any ideas??

I have tried everything. Nothing really fixes it. I swear it only happens when I'm having a great game, too. I just bought the game. Disappointed. :/

Obviously it's not a consistent fix. I got the 3rd quarter crash again while running MemAlloc. It's too bad. It was nice going for 50 games straight without a crash.

Does your game crash to desktop because my screen goes black and then I need to re-start my PC completely. Curious because I want to know if I'm having the same problems as everyone else or are my problems different

Mine crashes to desktop. Have had the game freeze in a black screen but that was just once or twice.

So I re-installed the game, no mods, and with default roster and it still crashes. Not to desktop but my screen goes black and everything freezes. I'm guessing somethings wrong internally with my set up

I think that I have similar problem, so I'll use this thread.
By this time I have played only online games and sometimes for greatest legends. Now I want to start new association. When I was playing first game in season, everything worked fine. But second game against Bobcats my game start crash to windows in 1Q. So I put base global.iff in main folder and try it again. Results was same but crash was between 3Q and 4Q. I tried simulate game against Bobcats and continue, but in my 3rd game I have same problem.
I was looking for any advice or solutions on the Web and tried it (delete online data, playing without internet connection, set up priority to high, Run MemAlloc, load non-patch nba2k12.exe) but nothing works! Crashes are mostly in break between 3Q and 4Q sometimes during 1Q, 3Q or 4Q. I don't get it.
Today I tried quick game, greatest mode game and online game. Results: first game of 3 online game crashed to windows in 1Q, quick game a greatest game crashed on end of the 3Q.

Do somebody have any advise or I must say good bye nba in this year?

My advice? Next year vote with your wallet. Don't buy 2K13 until you hear enough reports that it's a more respectable product than 2K12.

Is it a wild idea to disable those special effects and background shattered glass thing in global.iff? Perhaps those effects create just about the right amount off lag to crash the PC. I'm talking about those blue flashes, explosions and all the flim-flam.
I tried to disarm them by making those 100+ DDS textures transparent with gimp and mod tool, but didn't get the desired results. Got rid of stamina bar (gamedata.iff?) and messed up the background themes and a lot more, but those special effects are still there. Has anyone tried to get rid off those effects using hex editor? Is it a waste of time?

you want the gooey files, frontend_sync, and english.iff as well to get rid of them, but even if they are transparent, they are still there.

Could be or we could have been lucky, and it's a quarter transition thing anyway, nothing to do with the commercial.

But yes, I had no crash during late-season games or late-in-the-round games that had no commercials.

The one solution i know is disabling your 2 GIg RAM Chip and let the 1 Gig RAM engaged. this may be inconvenient and may damage the port of your computer. but proper handling may avoid any damages.. I am not recommending for you to try it, but I am sure it works, you can sue if its not working...

seems like im the only one who's lucky here making the nba 2k12 exe in task manager/processes and make its priority to high is the solution in 1st 3rd ctd of my nba 2k12 .

since i done this i did not get any ctd anymore.
