1st/3rd quarter CTD after commercial (3 possible solutions)

Also, about my last post, I haven't had problems AFTER the patch. 18 games and counting without CTD and I am really happy

it seems after patch the game become heavy for my system I download the new ATI driver but still I have minor lags(I didn't have before patch) in the games.

i used Memalloc and High priority but after 3rd quarter in My player mode still crashes

Same here. Crashes after third Q in My player with Memalloc and High priority (or just with Memalloc). But no crashes after first Q anymore. Any advice?

Well, seems like the problem is randomly unresolvable on some environments. Could be some mod or anything that we have in common, but there's no way to know.

When I am up in the score vs cpu after 3rd Quarter I have crash when I am down over 10 points everything is fine. A.I. is cool in the new patch.

Mine crashed too.... Thats it, the last time I spent my money for a 2K product... I really hope EA makes a good job so we wont be stuck again with a crappy game.

if MY player Mode still crashes after 1st Q or 3rd Q.
Run memalloc then Run NBA2k12(my player mode) then play only 1 game then quit(exit) NBA2k12 and close memalloc
then Run memalloc and 2k12(my player)..just play 1 game then quit.....just repeat

I tried both solutions pre-patch and after the patch. Unfortunately I still have the issue. Might be the case of "my machine is so ancient". Anyways I'm grateful to those who actually are putting in an effort to solve the problem. This seems the only place in the web. Thank you!
As for the problem itself, You already know, that My Player mode is not a reliable way to test it, association mode is. In My Player mode, if you're subbed out, you won't be affected by this problem, because the commercial doesn't kick in. You can actually use it to avoid the crash in this mode by picking up fouls (2 fouls in the first quarter and 5 fouls in the 3rd).
As for the association, the commercials are unavoidable. In desperation I tried to delete the commercial files from 2k installation directory but they still initiate without a content and still crash to desktop. Perhaps there is a way to intelligently remove them through global.iff or nba.exe?

Removing the ads from the exe would require some serious reverse engineering that I'm not capable of. Maybe someone else can.

EDIT: Did you guys try running MemAlloc with 570 as a parameter? Like this:
memalloc.exe 570
(You can do this by creating a shortcut for it, then right-clicking it, clicking on Properties, Shortcut, Target, and adding 570 to the end.
Does it make any difference or does the game still crash?

if i add 570 to memalloc it will say that (The name 'C:\*****\memalloc.exe 570' specified in the target box is not valid.
Make sure the path and file name are correct.)

I had no crashes since I started to do nothing after the buzzer of 1st and 3rd quater and then I start to play again when the game goes over all these animations and replays. But I am maybe only lucky..

ideaL_27, if the path has quotes, you're not supposed to put the 570 inside the quotes, but rather outside them. Another solution is to just put it in the root of your drive. Examples:

Target: C:\memalloc.exe 570
Target: "C:\My NBA 2K12 Tools\MemAlloc\memalloc.exe" 570

The MemAlloc is working for me. I can now play any game in my NBA without having any crash..Thanks a lot Leftos

I've been just as "lucky" with MemAlloc on 570, going 5 games straight with no crash now, which is much better than before.

I'll upload a new version that has 570MB allocation by default so that you don't need to set it by the shortcut.

Been using MemAlloc for over 35 games now without a crash. Fixed the game for me. Sorry for bumping the thread, just wanted everyone to know that it's not just a few games over some coincidence.

Why the hell allocating half a gig of memory prevents an irrelevant application from crashing, is beyond me, though.

Hi, I downloaded memalloc but i dont know how to do this right. Do i just click on the size that i want and just click allocate or? Can anyone write step by step? I tried with the priority high but I still have crashes.. And btw, do i have to start everytime a game to see if a possible solution works or? Cause i saved a game with 40 sec left in the 1st qtr and just load it up when i'm trying something new. Thanks.

Just download MemAlloc, run it before the game, start the game, play as much as you want, exit the game, exit MemAlloc. That's it. No options to choose or buttons to click. You just run it, keep its window open, play NBA 2K12 for a while, and once you're done with NBA 2K12, you just go to MemAlloc, press Enter, and it exits.
