I feel sorry for all those Blazer fans, Suns fans, Sonics fans and Jazz fans, you guys were absolutely denied. I cannot believe I couldn't stand Jordan when he played, but I feel extremely lucky to have witnessed him playing in his prime and I take it as a blessing. it's something that every basketball fan must experience.

A lot of people seem to feel that way though. It's easy to appreciate something in hindsight. Some of the people who hate the Lakers might appreciate them more once the team is broken up and their championships a few years behind us. Others who truly dislike the Lakers will keep on disliking them.

I disagree with that Andrew, great teams like the Lakers come around once or twice a decade but a megastar like Jordan only comes around once in a blue moon. There will a number of dynasties as we head forward in the future of the league but there will be no players like Jordan.

I was referring more to how the team is viewed. A lot of people hated the Bulls when they were winning championships, but these days some of those people seem to have a little more respect for that era.

The Rockets never had a dynasty, in my eyes there are only 3 teams that did have something that we call a dynasty: the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.

The idea of a dynasty in sports is subjective, so different people may think back to back championships constitutes one these days (with free agency effecting the league so much). Personally, I wouldn't call it a DYNASTY, but they were a dominant west team for the better part of 11 years straight from '86-'96, making the NBA Finals 3 times (winning 2), Conference Finals 3 times (winning all 3 obviously), and advancing to at least the Conference Semi's 6 of those 11 years.

So, a dynasty? I wouldn't argue too much that it was, but it was certainly strong enough to warrant a DVD (in my opinion).

Trust me, I have no illusions that the Rockets are up there with the Bulls, Celtics, and Lakers...not in terms of longevity anyway. Doesn't mean I don't think Olajuwon's Rockets ('93-'94 or '94-95') couldn't have beaten Jordan's bulls or Shaq's Lakers

I don't think you would include the Houston Rockets as a dynasty team. I think a dominance of 2 seasons would not entail that recognition. I'm not saying that Rockets were not a good team, but just not deserving of dynasty status. That goes the same for the Detroit Pistons of the late 80's-early 90's. That's my own opinion though.

Look at some of the accomplishments of the recent dynasties..

Chicago Bulls - 6 titles in 8 yrs
LA Lakers (current era) - 3 titles straight titles ( 4 titles in 5yrs???)

The Rockets and Pistons are not in that group.

Just picked up a copy of the Bulls series. I can't wait to watch it!
I was thinking about the Lakers set, but I'm not sure about it yet. I noticed they charge $20 CDN more for the Lakers over the Bulls series, but yet it's only 1 disc more. That's a big difference.

Wat a season?! It all started when Karl and Gary were signed. The next day... Kobe was arrested and charged.Kobe then missed the training camp and Shaq purposely ommitted Kobe's name duirng an interview. Kobe-Shaq Feud 2 erupted when Bryant went to an ESPN reporter. However, Kobe and Shaq soon put away their differences and the Fab Four (Not Fab Five from Queer Eye!) started 18-3! But injuries hit Malone (39 games missed), Shaq and Kobe leaving Gary Payton on his own! Payton said,"I didn't sign up for this! I want OUT!" Shaq returned but Kobe missed another handful of games, somehow because he 'put his hand through a window???" By All-star weekend the Laker's losses had reached double-figures. Shaq won All-star MVP and Kobe played well too! And after the break, the Lakers started again and looked like the team people said they would be. Shaq was doing everything part of defence while Kobe did a hell lot of scoring.

"Sabotage the game? I wouldn't do that" - Kobe after taking one shot in Sacramento game...supposedly the Division-leader deciding game. Lakers got killed! And a team 'member' said "We don't know how we will ever forgive him!" Three days later, Kobe wins the Pacific Division banner by sinking two miraculous shots over Portland! Kobe Bryant scores 31 points the day after his trial in Game 4 vs. Rockets. Lakers won series 4-1. D Fish scores point oh four in Game 5...the turning point of the Spurs-Lakers seires. "One Lucky Shot deserves another" - Shaq on D Fish who saved Pittsburgh Lakers beat Spurs 4-2. Rush helped Lakers beat and make the Finals by sinking six threes in a 96-90 game 6! Lakers beat T-wolves 4-2. Does anyone stand in between LA and the Championship? (And it''s funny how Kobe wins games on days after his trial...so far he's hit a buzzer-beater and in the playoffs he has scored 31-42-31 on those days!)

Stay tuned to ESPN/TNT to find out! Or NLSC if you dont have cable! :P

What's going on with that signature? We know what happened to the Lakers. :P

I wouldn't be surprised if they were. Even if they released in Region 4 format, we'll probably have to order them online. Not that I mind doing that and waiting, but it would be quicker to drive down to my local store.
