The Floorcam....useless

Postby . on Sat May 29, 2004 8:40 am

I was thinking about this for a while, and I came to the conclusion that it is very useless, gay and nasty. I dont know what the camera shows what other cameras dont, besides asses that is lol :P , I mean....if someone makes a nice play, and they show it on the floorcam...all you see is some shoes, legs, arses, and if your lucky you are able to get to see the rim a bit.

Now, if they add this to the WNBA, that would be cool. here is a little formula I came up with, "WNBA + Floorcam = ratings"

Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrible Idea by the NBA?

What's the use of the floorcam? nothing a very useless, waste of money that ESPN/ABC put up. Hopefully other networks wont imitate this thing.

I'm sorry, but I don't think the floorcam is going to be much better in the WNBA.

c'mon now I think you should be able to figure it out. But anyways get this. It's in the floor (floor) and it's a camera (cam) so it's a floorcam.

It is pretty useless, i saw a nice highlight from it in the Det - Ind game tonight, forget what though. But usually it's crap.

I have to agree. I've seen it in a few of the games I've watched this year, and it's a pretty useless angle for an instant replay.

Floor cam is as useless as Al Michaels doing NBA games. It's interesting for a game or two then it's downhill from there. Al Michaels needs to stop doing basketball because frankly he's very unemotional and basketball is too fast paced and excited for his monotone windpipe. Somehow someway I would like to see a guy like Bob Costas back in the seat.

Wasn't Al Michaels doing Derek Fisher's game 5? He was going nuts.

I think Al Michaels is not yet used to cover NBA games, I think ABC deserves a better one but no one on ESPN is.

Another thing about ABC, it's really a shame that they air NBA games once every three or four weeks unlike NBC which had triple-headers almost every week. Now NBC only has the AFL and other events like the Olympics. (that ends up in taped delayed broadcasts)

I don't mid most camera angles but I really think the floor cam is useless. What can the floor cam show you over any other cam? You can get better camera angles. :D

i think there were too many camera angle in nba which leave floorcam useless. i may suggest that instead of camera they should focus in audio. like what they do in all-star game we can sometimes here the voices of player, some talking about the game or just simply thrash-talking. also like to see the ref with mic so when there are some altercation they can explain what happen and what they are calling. it just a suggestion i knw some will say it was stupid but i think the floorcam is much more stupid.

That souds like a good idea but the problem is trash talking.
American tv looks very restricted so i guess that won't happen.
The players would know everybody is listening and might manner their language though...

You know there aren't that many attractive wnba players. (If you don't think so, then look at all of them.) So only use floor cam selectively for WNBA.
For NBA, man, I don't get the point at all.
Oh well, do women find it a good? I don't think so. I haven't seen women going "OOh, Kobe Bryant's on the floor cam" or something- -;;.
Dunno if it will really garner ratings for WNBA. Why not just watch any other shows with women with sexy outfits (there are tons and tons)?

I really miss the NBA on NBC. TNT and ESPN/ABC have really done a poor job IMO. I just horde all the ex-coaches/players they can and stick them in a job. NBA on NBC was some really good broadcasting and I loved that theme song.

But about the floorcam, I have seen it useful in about 2 instances all year. Past that, it's retarded. If they want a floorcam, they shouldn't make it right under the hoop. Give it an angle to the hoop, put two per hoop (45 degrees from hoop?).
