Byronn Scott to Hornets

Postby fgrep15 on Fri May 28, 2004 11:29 am

Some details remain before deal's official

NEW ORLEANS -- Byron Scott will be the next coach of the New Orleans Hornets.

Scott said Thursday on ESPN, where he works as an analyst, that he has accepted the job and can't wait to start work in New Orleans.

"They were real interested in me, as I was in them, and I jumped on it," Scott said.

Hornets owner George Shinn was not available for comment, and a team spokesman also declined comment. Shinn had said Scott was among his top choices to replace Tim Floyd, who was fired on May 7 after one season.

Good luck to Scott...no more easy playoff birth like he had with the Nets in the East...time to experience the big boys in the West..

Yeah, good luck to Scott.

On a sidenote, LA should look for a replacement if they let Jackson walk. There goes LA's hopes of getting Scott.

I still feel it would be a big mistake letting Phil walk.

What the fuck? :?

anyways, Im happy he got a coaching job, I dont think it was his fault the Nets were doing bad early in the season and afterall, he did took them to the NBA finals twice. Also, Im happy that the chance that he would go to LA is gone now

ko8e, Cam just started posting so we have to give him a little leeway.

Cam, Black Power and other racial comments aren't allowed here because they only lead to fights. Remember to be civil and respect everyone's background.

Now let's get back on topic.

Real test for Mr. Scott if he can really lead this team next season now that the Hornets are in the deep Western Conference.

Although he had a successful run in New Jersey, I think he lacks some right strategies in critical situations, but that's just me.

I'm assuming Phil Jackson will continue coaching then becuase it was widely speculated around here in So Cal that Byron was holding out for Phil Jackson to mkae a move first. Byron was lined up to take the Lakers job. Michael Cooper was another guy being considered for the hornets job.
