First Half
The Blue Devils didn't play anywhere near their billing in the first half being that their the #1 ranked team in the country went into the second half down by 6. In a rowdy stadium filled with St. John's fans, it seemed that the game was over at halftime.


Second Half
Duke's Junior guard Seth Curry seemed to be the savior for the Blue Devils as he scored 20 second half points! With the help of Austin Rivers, Ryan Kelly & Mason Plumlee they rallied back and tied with a few left! With the Red Storms main scorer D'Angelo Harrison out due to foul trouble they looked for another hope.

The 5'10 guard Michael Stith steps up with a big shot to take the lead with time running out!

But then Austin Rivers ties it up again with a wide open lay up.. The game rolls into overtime...

Then St Johns takes over but, Duke keeps it close due to the Red Storms missed free throws.

Minnesota had a good game at the free throw line, compared to St Johns terrible percentage shooting a disappointing 47%.

Late game heroics from freshman D'Angelo Harrison tied the games up with a floater with just 4.5 seconds left! But went on to foul out in OT, St Johns goes onto win it 95 - 87.

NEW YORK (AP) -- To hold the 3rd game of the NIT opener, Petersen Events Center is the home to Pittsburgh basketball(1-1) team over the last eight decades.

The latest of the Red Storm's(2-0) two wins over teams regarded as the best in the country was a heart-stopping, thriller over No. 1 Duke that has the players thinking of joining the ranks of the ranked themselves.

"I can't wait," St. John's forward SirDominic Pointer said of the Red Storm moving into the top 25. "It's been a long four years without that number. We deserve to see that number."

It's actually been just over a decade since St. John's was in The Associated Press poll.

Pointer, who finished with 28 points, caught a viscous "Alley-Oop" from D'Angelo Harrison past Nick Rivers twice as he defended him on the right side of the court.

Gibbs, who had won five straight overall and five in a row over St. John's. The senior guard finished with a career-high 34 points and was 6 of 9 from the 3-point line, matching Pittsburgh's total number of 3s in his absence.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Playing against the country's No. 3 ranked team in its first legitimate home game of the season, St. John's, which has now played three Top 25 teams in the past three games, defeated Kansas, 82-57, at Madison Square Garden.

SirDominic Pointer had 24pts and 5reb to lead St. John's (4-0). Achiuwa had 23 points and 8 boards, while Harrison scored 20 and also dropped 13 assist.

Nurideen Lindsey announced his decision Thursday evening to transfer from St. John's University at the end of the fall semester, but he hasn't decided his future destination yet.

Lindsey said in a statement, "I came to St. John's for a couple of reasons. One was to be close to my mom, whose health has been up and down due to some past experiences.

The second was to play for Coach Lav... In both instances it has not worked out how I envisioned."

Lindsey struggled in the Johnnies' last two games, and his 11.8 points per game seem replaceable on the surface.

Red Storm Over Blue Devils As St. John's Shocks No. 3 Duke, 67-68

St. John’s basketball made sure a weekend stocked with upsets didn’t have a disappointing Sunday, sending the Duke Blue Devils home 67-68 losers from Madison Square Garden.
This is only Duke’s fourth loss of the year, and makes a very strong case for the Big East being basketball’s dominant conference.

Austin Rivers and Seth Curry scored for the Blue Devils, putting up a combined 43, but nobody else was able to get involved in the offense. Duke missed 21 three-pointers on the day, with 10 of those coming from the two stars. Storm stars D'Angelo Harrison and Godsgift Achiuwa both finished with more than 10 points.

Duke, now 7-4, concludes their road trip at the Maryland Terrapins. 7-0 St. John’s gets Indiana at home.

Garrett Reaches NCAA Eligibility Requirements, Set To Begin College Hoops Career At St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's head coach Steve Lavin announced Wednesday morning that men's basketball prospect Amir Garrett has achieved initial eligibility requirements as certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center and has enrolled immediately at St. John's University. He will begin collegiate coursework at St. John's when the spring semester begins on Nov. 29, and is eligible to participate in all team activities immediately.

"We are pleased to welcome Amir to our Johnnies basketball family. We appreciate his unwavering commitment to the program we are building here at St. John's," said Lavin. "Amir is a person of strong character and an outstanding basketball player. His length, explosiveness, quickness and highly-skilled game make him an ideal fit for our system of play. Amir was the most tenacious competitor that we evaluated in the 2011 recruiting class and his fierce will to win is going to be a critical asset as our team prepares for the BIG EAST conference schedule."

Indiana Upsets No. 2 St Johns in OT, 96-89


BRONX, NY. (AP) - Christian Watford's game tying dunk Saturday night to send it to overtime, put Indiana right back on the basketball map.

Indiana is 6-4 and on its way to the first winning season under Crean. St Johns (7-1) will likely lose its hold on the top spot this week after a two-week reign.

"The first thing to me, and again we've never taken anything for granted here, and to look out Tuesday and see how many fans were waiting outside, well I knew they were outside Tuesday. I was gone recruiting.

To see them Wednesday, to see that passion and then to see it all today and see the people lined up from early this morning on through the afternoon and then to just hear this crowd. This is one of the most shared moments that I've ever been a part of, maybe the most shared moment where you want to share it with everybody that's been a part of this program long before we got here, the ones that have joined in, in the sense of becoming fans over a period of time.

This is the epitome of what Hoosier Nation is all about and the fans and everybody that supports this program from close and far, young and old, they deserve it because it's one of those moments that everybody's going to remember.

"As far as the game, it was not a picture perfect game. We were doing some very good things. We got up in the second half and then we did not play as well and some of it was them and some of it was us. You have to close a team like St Johns out.

You have to continue to be really good on both ends of the floor. It was not a textbook way to close a game, but it really came down to who had the ball last and our guys never wavered throughout the game. Even when we had the lead and we started to give it up, they never wavered. Our coaches did a phenomenal job of continuing to preach belief and toughness to the players inside of the huddles. They talked to each other well. The biggest concern I had on the day, with energy and the crowd, was that they weren't going to hear me a lot.

They had to hear each other. There had to be great echoes because there's no way I was going to get two, three, or four guys attention. If I got one they had to make sure that they echoed and for the most part they did. It's a great moment for us. It's a great victory because it's just such an outstanding team and a team, you can see it, the explosiveness, the athleticism, the skill level, the coaching, it's top notch and to get a win like that is huge and to have it be at home where our fans had so much to do with it is the biggest part of the day."

In the heart of New York, Florida State showed it has a huge one. It also showed it has a big-time senior.

James daringly drove for a career-high 22 points before fouling out late, and the slow-starting Seminoles roared back from 19 points down to within six before losing to the seventh-ranked Red Storms 88-81 Wednesday in midtown Manhattan.

"We dug ourselves too big a hole with turnover & bad shot selection but when we finally got in our groove, it was too late," James said.

Sir'Dominic Pointer finished with a team-high 25 points and a 10 rebounds to post his second-consecutive double-double, for St. John's (11-3).

Will Barton had 33 points and 6 rebounds, while freshman phenom Adonis Thomas had 27 to lead Memphis (10-8), which shot 46 percent (38-of-82) from the floor despite a 1-of-8 clip from beyond the arc.
