Dear LiveJournal,

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I hope things go well Q.

Anyway, the current scale model kit I'm building is to be featured on a hobby site. I am halfway through it. (Y)

You never know. The key is not to get discouraged or put all your eggs in one basket as the old saying goes, if it doesn't pan out then just keep trying. :)

Courier? Frumentarius?

On a more serious note, if there's anyone in your area looking for someone to do odd jobs and the like, that might be the way to go for some extra cash in the meantime.

Finally got the '90, '95 and '00 NBL grand finals on DVD, along with game 3 of the '91 grand final, a '93 Wildcats-Giants playoff game, a '94 Bullets-Wildcats quadruple-overtime game, and the '91 season recap 7 did.

Game 3 from the '90 grand final doesn't work, though, which is a pain.

I went to Supanova today, it was pretty awesome. I got my picture taken with Christopher Lloyd and Julie Benz (Rita from Dexter). Bought a few comic books and played some Rock Band 3 as well. All in all, a really fun day :)

Someone just signed up for Facebook using my email. And, by the look of it, is frantically pressing the 're-send validation email' button.

As noted in the now locked Letting Off Steam thread, moving forward we're using this thread for all general chatter; good, bad and indifferent.

It's the same one someone else tried to sign up for PayPal with, if that's what you mean.

Nothing since the initial signup email and the following 15 validation emails, though. Hopefully I hear nothing further about it.

Different name, and I doubt he'd make the same mistake after I'd pointed it out the first time anyway.

Well then, unless it's someone being a douchebag it seems you'd have the misfortune of encountering two people who don't know their own email addresses.

Good idea on locking up all the other threads Andrew. (Y) Should encourage more new and individual threads.

As for this thread, well i'll make my first ever contribution, with some good news...
Some of you probably know i'm in a band. What none of you know is that i'm starting up a bit of a solo endeavour. I kind of slowly and painfully realised that if you want music to be your future, you can't rely on other people/a band to get you there, unless everyone in the band is fully committed to the project. If people aren't a committed as you then there's going to be problems. So long story short i've taken a leap of faith and setting up a music business to get into the business of licensing my music for film/tv/videogames/multimedia/etc etc... my dream is to generate a "liveable" income from doing this.
I got an ANB for it 2 weeks ago, and set up a bank account during the week. All that stuff i posted in the "recent purchases" thread was all bought for the purpose of this business (not to mention my personal entertainment and musical creation needs).

Anyway the good news is, one of my songs got accepted into a music library last week. :) www.soundscapemedia.com work with some big american channels such as Discovery channel, NBC, CBS, etc... so now my track will get heard by some of the big wigs over there. (Y)

It's not a "result" yet. I.e. it doesn't mean anything until it actually gets a placing in something. But it's pretty exciting for me since it's the first time it's ever happened. :) The ball is starting to roll.

Sounds good Nick, best of luck with it. Can't hurt to explore all the possibilities. (Y)

I have a friend who's a musician, he's put out a couple of LPs and still plays a decent amount of gigs on the side (his day job is producing for the ABC) but last year he and a few other guys tried to get a band together. They were quite good and got some regular gigs around town but the drummer couldn't make the commitment and had a more stable opportunity in finance he wanted to dedicate himself to, plus I believe there were some disagreements about their direction and sound. In the end, they decided to end things amicably before they were at each other's throats and did solo stuff again.
