Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I do. It doesn't spin so it counts. It ain't silver like the "ECW" belt so it's fine too. I had it for comparison. The promotion's flagship title still looks like a toy and compared to the tag titles (again: to me at least), it looks better than the current WWE title.

eeeh, I'm going to have to agree with Lean on this. I dont care for the gladiator theme, but it is better than the WWE title.

seriously, that is a perfect song for Punk (the 2nd time around, ROH) and like that 'taker/HHH promo, no words needed

I wouldn't mind a superman booking for Punk at this point. Let him mow down everyone he goes against.

Superman booking is fine if the crowd loves a face or loves to hate a heel. Austin had his share of Superman booking in 1998 and 1999 and it worked. The Rock wasn't that different, though from memory Austin tended to win a lot more, especially in 1998. Orton and Cena's reactions are more mixed (particularly Cena's), so it doesn't work as well. The Austin/McMahon stuff was also one of the hottest angles the company has ever done, which certainly helped as well. It also worked for Hogan in the 80s of course, but we're long past that era. Aside from that, it tends to work with bigger wrestlers like Undertaker, Kane and Big Show, because their dominance is easy to sell as is the idea they can take a lot of punishment and still come out on top.

I reckon it could work for Punk, though. With the tremendous reactions he's getting right now, anyone sees him as a heel is going to want to see him lose and anyone who's cheering for him gets to see him win match after match.

So you guys think he'll beat Cena in two consecutive PPV matches? Not even Randy Orton could do that in their feud in 2009.

It's possible. I don't think they should burn through the angle too quickly, at least a couple more PPVs seems about right.

Punk (ok smark, WWE writers) gave me goosebumps due to epicness on two separate occasions now. That hasn't happened to me since, well, since Shane McMahon ended up on WCW, or Jericho's first appearance on RAW.

Wow. Just wow. And I thought just a while ago that the song does not fit him. I mean THIS is THE time for a face turn for Punk. Get Nexus involved in beating him up then have Rey put up a "you screwed me Cena" angle to have Cena heel...

...that is of course if the writers would still like to surprise us.

I don't know, I think for the moment they should keep doing what they're doing with Punk and let the audience decide rather than a force a turn...although as far as Cena's concerned, a heel turn would really freshen things up as most of us have said at one time or another.

Love the surprised look in Cena's face. I jizzed when CM Punk lift the title and Cena look depressed.

Zack Ryder gets TV time, JR is back, and I still turn off the show early. And really, I'm not sure if I'd have felt much better about it had I watched the last couple of minutes. Rey winning was bad enough, but another <day title reign, and Cena back on top? No thanks. I'll go back to reading the spoilers before watching the shows.

i don't like how he seemed to rip-off Jericho's "i am the best in the world at what i do" catchphrase.

so apparently, one of the 6 possible outcomes for raw were for HHH to screw Punk and pedigree him and have ADR cash in on him and carry the title into SS and throughout their tour of Mexico in October, effectively recreating the SCSA/VKM dynamic with a babyface punk and heel HHH. ADR was supposed to cash in at MITB if Punk did not re-sign. and looks like HHH is attempting to turn Shaemus into a babyface.
and spoilers for SD this week makes it look like the brand split is becoming less and less important
