I think so, he had to drop the IC title to JoMo or something like that because of it. He did come back only to get a world title match aginst Taker at the Rumble though, if I don't have the years mixed up.

That's right, Rey did have a Wellness violation of his own. Even though they're smaller workers, they're still inclined to try and maintain a pro wrestling physique.

I hope the fact that they still use a design of the old belt on the overlays and screens is just a placeholder. Let this be a "new start" for the WWE Championship, with a new belt. Please?

It'd be a great opportunity to retire the spinner belt.

Judging by what's happening on RAW at present, they might be doing an angle where a new champ is crowned then Punk returns to feud with the winner over who is the true champion. It's been done before but so often that it's become stale, I'd be for that.

holy shit what a PPV. had to stay away from this thread so i wouldnt spoil it for myself. the sin cara spot was sick and the injury looked legit at first, but after replays he (and miz for that matter) seem to oversell the "injuries". miz's looked totally fake on replays and he was screaming too much for it to look legit. but regardless, those were great spots if it makes you wonder whether they were legit or not. bryan was a good choice for the winner, although i thought there was a chance sin cara couldve ran back out like miz did at the time. they need another babyface main eventer so orton doesnt turn into super cena.

i skipped the show/henry match. not interested.

the raw mitb was sloppy but still good. the unmasking was a very clever ending imo and obviously planned. jao i think rey meant he didn't want anymore mask vs. ____ matches cuz the outcomes are really easy to predict. rey's ladder fell the wrong way as he tried to cover his face and adr was obviously supposed to stnad up and get it but got knocked over accidentally.

christian/orton match was superb. loved the counter to orton's clothesline-clothesline-duck-powerslam combo. didnt think orton would actually get DQed so i was really surprised at the outcome of the match.

cena/punk was the best match wwe has had in years. loved the counter to cena's shoulder block-shoulder block-spinout poerbomb-5 knuckle shuffle combo. was a nice touch on the "montreal screwjob attempt" and vince calling adr to cash in. thought the end of the match wouldve been better if on the 324th time cena got the stf, cm punk would counter for a submission win

cant wait for raw tonight.

yeah they still need to look like they can beat someone up (one of the reasons why JoMo hasn't been pushed much)
or to help them recover from all the bumps they take.

miz's looked totally fake on replays and he was screaming too much for it to look legit.

He did let out a "SHIT" iirc, which is what made it seem more legit to me.

but yea, read this morning that there were no injuries from last night at all, just storyline ones.

If they get this to happen, I will praise the WWE with high regard. There is a reason to watch Raw again (since I am more inclined with Smackdown).

EDIT: Wait, so HHH came out and kayfabe-fired Vince instead of Cena? :? So the Cena-Punk feud might still continue. Surprisingly, this storyline is interesting.

TNA?

what a lame episode of raw. pretty much nothing happened. they're effectively writing vince out of the script once again. he was pretty much written off until CM punk brought him up in his promo, but yeah i just rolled my eyes when HHH came out because i knew that cena wouldnt be fired, YET AGAIN. Unlikely, Styles is currently the Vice President of Digital Media Content for WWE.com. If he's announcing, it's for WWE.

Q, I'd rather they leave Cena on the roster instead of pseudo firing him again like in the Nexus angle

i'd rather they not even say the word "cena" and "fired" in the same sentence anymore. they are insulting our intelligence every time they do that.

Just caught up with the results, WNW must've been getting a lot of traffic earlier as I couldn't reload the page. In any case, I don't think that's a bad twist to the story at all; at the very least, I'm willing to give it a chance. Like most other things in pro wrestling it demands a certain suspension of disbelief, but it's probably not the egregious example of it. If they can use the current angle to put an end to the spinner belt AND the mystery GM angle, so much the better.

At least have him off-screen for a while. That Nexus angle that had him fired was horribly done that doing it again just ruined the entire angle. I have to admit, the Cena-Punk feud was one of the greatest storylines written in recent WWE history that involves Cena. What happened tonight on Raw was an indication that not all good storylines go on well. I predict Miz wins and Cena feuds him again then have Punk in the picture much much later on.

I don't mind that they went that way with Cena. It's not like his contract was up so there was cause to have him fired on-screen and blend reality with story, plus WWE needs as many big names on screen as they can get right now. I'm not calling it the greatest angle of all-time or anything, but I think it's fine as it is. Like I said, I'm willing to see how it plays out from here and where Punk fits in, whether he's quietly signed to an extension or will be going on a brief hiatus before returning to feud over who is the real champion.

i'm sure after the popularity of his promo, they quietly signed him and will keep him stashed away to return later in a "i'm the real champion" angle
and for gods sake get rid of the mystery gm.
however, i was very excited at the return of ricardo rodriguez. he is a big part of what makes adr so awesome

For now I won't mind about Cena. If the Mysterio-Miz match would go on to become a feud on its own, it's fine with me. At least it's something new. Plus this means there will be a new belt. Yes I am hoping too much.
