The NBA holds no "copyright" on the players likenesses. There is no longer any agreement between the NBA and NBAPA so nba.com no longer has any right to publish them.

This is collective bargaining, and currently all player contracts are essentially void as well as all licenses between the two entities.

This does not affect anyone who contracts with the two parties separately. Which is everyone else in the world.

So you can still see this beautiful face along with his stats elsewhere: http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3976/austin-daye

And he'll be in NBA 2K12.

Beautiful? Face? Stats? WTF look at this scrub, he's turrible. But the lockout shouldn't bother me. People can still watch FIBA americas, European basketball, and college too.

The former team (Walker-Rose-Pedja-Anderson-Fisher) would vaporize the latter team off the face of the earth. They have gobs of rings, the latter team has one ring combined. Anyone who doesn't have a ring is worthless especially compared to those who won rings.

Real basketball fans know this, anyone with a ring is better than anyone without one automatically.

Learn about the game already, maybe you could try watching it to start.

Man, this sucks... I really hope both sides can work this out. Also, as some of you said, NBA.com looks dull... :P

I thought that NBA.com got hacked because it has a very dull design.

FIBA tournaments only last for a week. And that happens sometime August-September.

Just Curious,

If they reach an agreement by october, the usual start of the season, will they have free agency or start the season?

If they don't have an agreement by September 15th then the season will be truncated.

so im assuming the way it works is 2k has a separate agreement with the NBA (to use the teams & logos) and the NBPA (to use likenesses & names of players)

This year's free agency is boring because there is no free agency.

For what it's worth - since there doesn't seem to be any news to discuss as far as the negotiations are concerned - I went back through some of my favourites on YouTube and discovered that all those videos haven't been removed from the NBA's channel, just been set to private. So presumably when the lockout does end, all those links and embedded videos in our various threads will work once again.

The 5 NBA Players Most Affected By The 1998-99 Lockout

Of those five, I'd say that Kemp and Baker were really the only ones that were badly affected by the lockout. Pip and Richmond were both starting to get on in age and entering the downside of their careers; Pip's situation also came about due to the breakup of the Bulls championship team, which was happening lockout or not. Larry Johnson joined the Knicks in 1996 and his numbers took a hit because he had Patrick Ewing and Allan Houston to share the ball with, plus as the years went by he developed a few problems with his back that ultimately forced him into an early retirement. Kemp and Baker probably could've been stars for another four or five years if not for the poor shape they found themselves in following the lockout. Of course, their off-court troubles likely would've been there regardless.

The Magic probably wouldn't mind, if it gives them an excuse to void his contract.
