Bulls- Rockets notebook

THE FACTS: Chicago Bulls had a great spark from it's frontcourt and the statline proces it as well. Led by Forward Carlos Boozer who had 21 points 2 rebounds and 3 assists on a 10/10 shooting and Center Joakim Noah, with 20 points ,8 assists and 6 blocks the Bulls got strong bases from the early moments.MVP candidate Derrick Rose had another double double with 20 points and 12 assists, but also had 7 steals and 2 blocks as well, proving he's more than a non-factor in defense as some were accusing him.The last member of the Chicago "Big 4" Luol Deng added 17 points, while the Bench play was fantastic with Gibson(8 points),Korver(7 points),Monroe (5 points,4 boards,3 blocks)and Watson (5 assists)each helping their team on their way.

Rockets were a two men team in almost the whole game. Aaron Brooks managed to score 28 points with 5 threes, all in the last 4 minutes(!) and also add 10 assists(but with 9 turnovers),and Kevin Martin had 24 points, and was the main reason Bulls couldn't take a great lead in the first three quarters.

THE STAT: Bulls had huge shooting percentages in the game. Boozer was 10/10, Noah was 10/13, Rose 9/12 , Korver 3/4,Gibson 3/3 and Scalabrine 1/1!

HOT:Aaron Brooks could score however he wanted in the end.Stepback three, fadeaway three, three after a pumpfake, all would go in! He was 5-5 from behind the line in the last 4 minutes.

QUOTABLE: "We keep moving. This month is going to be tough ,but with that kind of play a deep post season is guaranteed."
--Bulls Center Joakim Noah

Spurs - Bulls notebook

THE FACTS: The first game in Chicago was taken by the Bulls thanks to a basket by McGrady in the end of regulation. This one had the same amount of excitement, and was judged in the OT,where Bulls got with more passion and were more driven to be the winners. It was all about the Big 4 again. Joakim Noah was a beast. He had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists , 4 steals and 3 blocks(all in the last minute of the 4th), Carlos Boozer had 20 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists, Derrick Rose added another sensational game with 20 points ,10 assists and 10 steals, while Luol Deng had 19 points.

Spurs had Manu Ginobili on a great day. He scored 24 points, had 6 assists,3 steals and 2 blocks. The Big Fundamental, Tim Duncan scored 24 points as well and added 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocks(3 on Derrick Rose!). Tony Parker was the third gun, with 16 points, 11 assists and 4 rebounds.

THE STAT:Bulls were better in assists(36 to 26) and turnovers(15 to 21) than San Antonio. Two categories that proved crucial.

TURNING POINT:Chicago down by two points, with 34 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Taj Gibson, who was preferred in the crunch time from Thibodeau got the cut and with an assists from Rose tied the game quickly with 29 seconds on the clock. San Antonio decided to run all the time they had and in the last 9 seconds Tim Duncan gets the isolation play with Joakim Noah and gets the ball at the top of the key. He makes his space and goes for the easy jumper with 5 seconds remaining, but Joakim Noah rises up and block Duncan's shot ,gives the ball to Rose who goes for the penetration , but Rose misses the tough lay-up. Chicago blew the last chance of stealing the game, but this block gave them the momentum and got the lead in the OT and never looked back.

HOT:Joakim Noah. Two consecutive big time performances. Even with Rose getting another triple double, Noah got the MVP of the Game honor because of his game saving blocks in the last minutes and the spark he provides.

QUOTABLE:We decided to play more the paint and we're getting rewarded for it. I'm really satisfied from the job of my forwards and centers both on offense and defense.
--Bulls' coach Tom Thibodeau

Thunder-Bulls notebook

THE FACTS: With Kevin Durant leading the way on a memorable performance, scoring 42 points with 6 threes, and adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists, the Thunder won their first meeting against the Chicago Bulls. Nate Robinson had a huge impact from the bench as well, playing many minutes due to Westbrook being hurt. He scored 17 points and added 9 assists as well.

On the other side, Derrick Rose kept his MVP-caliber performances. With 26 points, 10 assists and 8 steals,he was the best thing Bulls had in order to face Durant. But the offensive woes in the late moments from the post game of the Bulls were the most important points.A high percentage player, Carlos Boozer was 7/14 from the field ,even though he still managed to score 14 points and grab 5 rebounds.Joakim Noah had 14 points as well with 7 rebounds, showing that he has returned to his old form in the last games. Luol Deng, the unsung hero in most occasions, added again many points, racking up 20, with 4 threes.

THE STAT: Kevin Durant was 4/4 for three in the last quarter, scoring huge threes.

GOOD MOVE: Scott Brooks played constant picks off the ball for Kevin Durant, which helped him find the open field for his lethal long range jumper.

BAD MOVE: Bulls really tried to depend on their paint game. This tactic really helped Oklahoma focus defense on the paint and steal many possessions.

QUOTABLE: "We're looking forward for the next game with the Clippers in L.A. We have to win there, and then we're going to have another chance with the Thunder in Chicago. They're not going to beat us twice, be sure about it."
--Bulls' center ,Joakim Noah

Bulls - Clippers notebook

THE FACTS: Chicago Bulls were lead by their sensational point guard, Derrick Rose, for another game. Rose scored 29 points and added 8 assists and 8 steals in a big performance especially on the late stages of the match. Rose was though alone, as the Bulls poor offense didn't complete their amazing defensive game. Greg Monroe and Carlos Boozer were the only other players registering double figures in points with 10 points! Boozer had 8 rebounds as well.

The Clippers had Baron Davis as the top gun. Boom Dizzle scored 24 points and added 6 rebounds and 3 assists, though he disappeared on the last minutes. Eric Gordon had 13 points and Chase Budinger ,a player whose coming in L.A. has really helped the Clippers thus far, added 10 points.

HOT:Derrick Rose needed a bigger performance other than his usual 20-10 games and in terms of scoring he did better, even though he needed 30 shots to get that scoring...

NOT:You're one of the best shooters in recent NBA history, you've won the three-point shootout, and yet you're missing 5 wide-open shots that would give your team a safe distance! Daequan Cook was that bad today...
But also Joakim Noah goes into that category. Not about his scoring woes, but about letting the ball slip from his hand in 6 different defensive rebound attempts, and in the most of them throwing the possession away and ruining all the team efforts on D.

ROOKIE WATCH:Greg Monroe proved why he's the Bulls future in the center spot. He played a great game of the bench, with 10 points including some acrobatic lay-ups and great job in every end of the field.

GOOD MOVE: Zone, Man to Man then again Zone and Man to Man. Bulls switched defensive set-ups many times in the game, combining it with some serious pressure and the Clippers just couldn't find their game . Thibodeau deserves full credit on that...

QUOTABLE: "Our great defense was the key. We played horribly on offense but our great job on the other end gave us the game."
--Bulls' coach Tom Thibodeau

UP NEXT:March 15 vs Oklahoma City Thunder

Nope,I think that he had just recovered from his injury. But he settled to many jump-shots even if he had some room. Though there were some flashes of Blake Quake on some point...

Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls now turn their focus to the ultimate prize, the O'Brien trophy.

First Mission Accomplished

CHICAGO ,IL -- The Chicago Bulls have become the first team to clinch its playoff appearance. The Chicago Bulls after the win at Los Angeles against the Clippers needed only one win to clinch the playoff seed. But thanks to the Miami Heat and their win against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bulls are officially in the post season. Now, they are finding themselves 3.5 and 4 games form the second Miami Heat and the third Boston Celtics respectively.

"We're really satisfied about this, and that we've locked our presence one month before the start of the postseason." said Bulls' General Manager George Koukoulis. "Our goal now is to keep the first overall seed in order to have full homecourt advantage going into the playoffs, as our crowd is going to be a major factor for a deep post-season."

"Our first goal was to make it to the playoffs as soon as possible."said Tom Thibodeau " Now we want to be as ready as possible heading into the playoffs" he added. On the question if he's going to rest some players in the last games he said"It's still to early to know. We have to clinch the first seed as well you know. It's our top priority for the moment"

The Chicago Bulls are on a seemingly easy stretch after the game against the West second Oklahoma City Thunder. After that game they're going to play on the road the Nets, come home to face the Hornets and end the week at Philadelphia against the Sixers.
