THE ANTI-AWARDS

What better way to celebrate my evil 666th post than with a celebration of the worst in basketball that will inevitably turn into a fight? Just kidding I will be here to moderate.

(I found this topic on Hawksquawk.net...seems hilarious)

The categories are...

Least Valuable Player

Non-Defensive Player of the Year

Least Improved Player

Worst Rookie of the Year

Worst Executive of the Year

Worst Coach of the Year
_________________________________

And add your own category if you want...my votes...

LVP: Tracy McGrady
Second: Allen Iverson

The Hallmark of an MVP is the ability to set a positive example, make his teammates better and lead his team to victory. (AHEM)

NDPOTY: Dirk Nowitzki

LIP: Reggie Miller

He continues to rot like a corpse. Second place goes to Scottie Pippen.

WROTY: Darko Milicic

WEOTY: Danny Ainge (Boston Celtics)

Second place goes to John Paxson of the Chicago Bulls. Billy Knight of the Hawks gets off the hook because the Hawks are purposefully having a fire sale. Ainge made some awful trades then tried to pretend it was a fire sale.

WCOTY: Byron Scott (Nets)

Proved his true "worth" to his team by getting fired then watching his team go on a 16-game winning streak. Made awful decisions that dropped fans' jaws in disbelief than "pouted" by doing even more stupidity when he was called on it.

LVP: i normally go with elton brand and abdur rahim for being perennial 20/10 guys on lottery teams but tmac gets the nod this year

no D: Jalen rose- the only player i know who seldom puts his arms up on defense

LIP: i was thinking about going with a fading vet as well but i thought drew gooden, jason richardson, rashard lewis were more worthy. i went with devean george: had a great start but fell flat on his face playing with 4 HOF's

WROTY: i wanted to go with collison who doesn't have a functioning limb but i agree with the darko selection

WEOTY: john gabriel. i guess you could say this is his parting gift. he pooped in his pants by consistently having piss poor drafts, the juwan howard signing, letting DA go, trading for stevenson...

WCOTY: tim floyd. in his first year he has already alienated himself with most of the team
Jump.

Least Valuable Player - Tracy McGrady, one of the most selfish players in the league certainly won't complain since he led the league in scoring again. He could care less about the 21-61 record his team piled up. I'll have to excuse Iverson since he was injured, remember injuries aren't the players fault! (Sorry, being a Raptors fan, I'm used to that same criticism towards VC)

Non-Defensive Player of the Year - Dirk Nowitzki.

Least Improved Player - Devean George, started off playing well but faded after Rick Fox returned from injury.

Worst Rookie of the Year - Marcus Banks, Reece Gaines...

Worst Executive of the Year - John Paxson, Bulls GM...

Worst Coach of the Year - Kevin O'Neill, horrible coach who's defensive style constricted a team (The Raptors) filled with many offensive weapons (VC, Rose, Bosh, Marshall) who would be better off running and gunning rather than playing in a grinding half-court set.

Least Valuable Player: Tracy McGrady and Iverson coming in second.

Non-Defensive Player of the Year: Jalen Rose, this guys just can't play D

Least Improved Player: I'm not going to give it to a vet because your not supposed to be improving when you're 35, so I say Devean George or Eddy Curry.

Worst Rookie of the Year: Reece Gaines and Darko Milicic

Common people these should be the only prospects, Gaines was extremely dissapointing, and Darko had no chance to play but wasn't ready to anyways.

Worst Executive of the Year: I know everyone will jump to say Danny Ainge but they've got three first round picks lol. I'll go with John Gabriel of Orlando while he was there.

Worst Coach of the Year: As I Raptors fan I really want to say Kevin O'neil, but Eddie Jordan was also bad for the Wizards. Actually not Kevin O'neil was much worse, he wins this one.

Least Valuable Player: Tracy McGrady

If I recall correctly, only the second player to lead the league in scoring playing for the league's worst team. A guy like T-Mac should equal around 20-25 wins on any team, and the Magic had enough talent this year to win around 40 games. They were 21-61.

Non-Defensive Player of the Year: Dirk Nowitzki

Least Improved Player: Rashard Lewis

He once demanded a $100 mil contract, pointing to guys like KG, Kobe and T-Mac, fellow players who came straight out of high school and were great players by their third season. Lewis has just completed his sixth season, with numbers that are good but show minimal improvement and in some areas are worse than a few years ago.

Worst Rookie of the Year: Darko Milicic

It's not really fair since he didn't get much of a chance, but I'm of the belief that a second overall pick should at least be in the top nine players in the rotation in his rookie year. If he's really not ready to play in the NBA, maybe he shouldn't be the number two pick.

Worst Executive of the Year: Danny Ainge

The Celtics made the playoffs, but the Eastern Conference was even weaker this year. Roster moves still left them two seeds lower than they were last year, and earned them an early exit from the postseason, a 4-0 sweep at the hands of the Pacers. Last year the Celtics upset the Pacers despite being the lower seed. They didn't really come close this year.

I kind of wanted to say Bill Knight. The Hawks aren't denying they're dismantling and rebuilding, but who are they going to bring to town with all that cash? They're guaranteed a top ten pick, but that's about all. It's a risky rebuilding plan, though I suppose it could prove to be brilliant if they pull it off.

Worst Coach of the Year: Kevin O'Neill

The Raptors should have been in the playoffs. Vince Carter played 73 games, there were injury troubles but talent was available throughout the year. He was considered a good replacement at the beginning of the year, he's not coming back next season. Enough said.

Non-Defensive: Dirk Nowitski

Least Improved: Gilbert Arenas....cause I don't think he did too much this season...he was supposed to do awesome! ....I dunno....

Worst Rookie: Anyone who didn't show up this year! ...who got picked in the draft....

Worst Executive: Wat the hell has he done to the Celtics???

Worst Coach: Eddie Jones did nothing- wait...it was his team.... all the injuries! So I will go with Toronto's coach cause they didn't make the play-offs!
