Aw man.. I just realized that my old dynasty had been used with the default rosters. No wonder I ended up with KG, Peja, LeBron, and Redd on the same team! Well, I guess I'll just start over here. All the settings are going to be the same, and so is the beginning storyline, so most of the pre-draft and draft will be just copied and pasted from my previous story with the different players only. Well, here goes again !

STERN RESIGNS AS COMMISSIONER OF NBA

It was announced today at 1 PM that David Stern would be resigning as the commissioner of the NBA. No reasons for this sudden departure were given, as Stern solemnly made his announcement at a press conference. The only thing that reporters could get out of him was that he was sure that the new commissioner would bring radical changes to the league. Stern's replacement was unknown as of press time, but league sources restated the fact that "he's really going to change how things work around here."

NEW COMMISSIONER GORDON MAKES HUGE CHANGES

Yesterday, Jim Gordon was named the new commissioner of the NBA. He succeeds David Stern, a respectable man who had helped bring the league into the new millenium. However, Gordon made a startling announcement at his press conference. He stated that, as commissioner, his new plan to gain more revenue was to nullify all current contracts and grant free agent status to every single player in the league. There would then be a new draft that would include all the players in the league. "I strongly believe that this is the best way to go from where I'm starting off," Gordon stated. He also said that there would be a random drawing to determine the draft order. Reactions around the league were mixed, with Billy King, the general manager of the Sixers, saying, "I really think that this is a great opportunity for our team right now. We were in a kind of a dilemma with all the contracts of our veterans burdening us, but now we can just have a fresh start." However, representatives from the better teams in the league said that they were not happy with this announcement. Gordon could not be reached for comment after the press conference.

King: Did someone already draft AI?

Ford: ... He's still there. ... But I'd rather that we didn't get him. ...

King: Ah, yes. I forgot the battles that you two constantly had. Well, what's everyone think we should do?

Alex English: Well, I'd draft a good point guard. We need a leader who can take over in clutch situations. I suggest that we take Kidd, Francis, Davis or Payton.

Ford: Are you kidding me? Please tell me you're kidding. You want to take Payton with guys like Kobe, Shaq, and Pierce out there? I say we take either Kobe or Shaq.

King: Hmm, I'm going to have to agree with Alex here, Chris. So it's down to the point guards. What should we do...?

NBA Representative: You have 30 seconds, guys.

Ford: Do what you think is best, Billy. We all support your decision.

*a couple seconds later*

Gordon: With the fourth pick in the draft, the Philadelphia 76ers choose Jason Kidd! *wild cheers from audience*

English: Good pick, Billy! *everyone on the sixers staff congratulates him* We're on the clock again, though.

Bob Bender: Wow, there's still a lot of great players out here. Jamison, Odom, Randolph, Abdur-Rahim, Martin... It goes on and on!

Chris Jent: We HAVE to draft Kenyon! Or LeBron James! WE HAVE TO!

Ford: Calm down, Chris. First off, LeBron isn't even left on the board anymore. We can't just jump to these decisions. We have to think this out.

King: Wait, Peja's still on the board!

Ford: Peja?! For heaven's sake, get him! We can't afford to mess around with Martin when we've got a 2-time 3 point shooting champ!

Jent: NO! I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS! WE MUST DRAFT KENYON!

King: Chris! Calm yourself or leave the room! *Jent sheepishly apologizes* All in favor of Peja, raise your hands. *many hands raise* Now Kenyon? *Jent and a trainer are the only ones to raise their hands* Well, there we have it. Who said we weren't democratic?

Gordon: And with the 33rd pick of the draft, (grumbling from Jent) the 76ers pick Peja Stojakovic!

NBA Representative: Sixers! You guys are on the clock again!

King: These rounds pass too quickly...

Jent: ...

King: Don't worry, Chris. I can tell that you really wanted Martin. I've got a plan in mind, though...

Ford: Enough talk about this. Who's left?

Bender: J-Rich, Van Horn, Rip Hamilton, Glenn Robinson. The skill level hasn't dropped off that much.

Ford: Well I'm not planning to screw around with KVH or Big Dog again. These guys are all pretty equal in my eyes. Billy?

King: We'll just get the best available player. I think this would be J-Rich. Everyone agree? *everyone nods*

Gordon: And with the 62nd pick of the draft, Philadelphia chooses Jason Richardson!

NEW-LOOK SIXERS MAKE HUGE TRADES

With the re-draft bringing in tons of new players for the Sixers, Billy King immediately turned to the phones, unsatisfied. After the draft netted the likes of Jason Kidd, Jason Richardson, and Peja Stojakovic, King traded away Stojakovic, Samuel Dalembert, and Maciej Lampe to Memphis. In return, they got Chris Bosh and Jarvis Hayes. He then turned to Houston and swapped Wesley Person and Tim Thomas for Dajuan Wagner and Marcus Haislip. He topped this off by signing undrafted free agents John Salmons and Darko Milicic. "I just wanted to get a little big younger," said King. We just wanted Peja as a kind of trade bait to get us the young talent that we coveted in Chris Bosh. All in all, I think it's been a good day's work for this organization." None of the new Sixers were available for comment.

SIXERS MAKE ANOTHER BLOCKBUSTER TRADE

The Sixers dealt Jason Richardson, Jarvis Hayes, and Darko Milicic yesterday to Minnesota for the highly-touted rookie LeBron James. Head coach Chris Ford said that he was extremely pleased with the trade. James is probably the most talked-about rookie in the history of the league. Fans rejoiced for hours after hearing the great news, with one female fan even offering to marry Sixers GM Billy King. Said assistant coach Chris Jent, "I'm absolutely overjoyed at having LeBron on our roster. Words can't describe how happy I am. It's so surprising that the Wolves would give up such a great prospect. I'm just..." He then broke off in tears of joy. When asked later about the Bosh trade that had happened earlier, he answered, "...What?" King only told reporters that he was still seeking other ways to make the team better. In other news, the Sixers picked up undrafted free agent Glen Rice for a 2 year contract.
