DeRozan leads Cavaliers to some sweet revenge and 5th straight W
by Josh Cruzer, NBA 4/21

Image
DeRozan had 19 points in just 20 minutes.

Image

The Cavs were coming off a recent win against the Bobcats, but that mattered nothing, as they wanted some revenge of getting swooped last year in the playoffs. Celtics on the other hand had a win against Philadelphia, but Cleveland game with an whole diffrent perspective as they had their young SG Demar DeRozan debuting on that night.

Cleveland were controlling the first half. They had impressive lead the whole time but cooled off in the second half. Some great play was from their debutant DeRozan, who had 19 points. Also, Jamison was on fire with 18 points and 9 rebounds, Gee had 18 points and Varejao got another double-double, his 4th this season. " Yeah, great win. It is so sweet right now. Demar was great but, I am hoping he wont be injured somehow. Williams played great, got injured. Hickson played great, got injured. Not Demar I hope." - told Jamison after the game near the locker rooms.

Image
Jamison was 46% from the field, hitting 7/15.

Image
Varejao had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

From the Celtics perspective, things were not bad. Ray Allen had season high 25 points and 6 assists, Jeff Green also had a good game with 17 points. Both Shaq and KG managed to get 12 points and 8 rebounds. " Cleveland wanted revenge, and they got it. We got one game left, and its ours then. " - commented Allen.

Image
Of course, Allen was 5-5 from downtown.

Cleveland will have their next game at home, against the Bulls, while Boston is on the road against Miami Heat.

Now,..
Image
Star and Flunk of the Night !

Star : Image Demar DeRozan - Having a great debut against the team, who eliminated them from the playoffs last year, you got to think, that he feels on the top of the mountain right now.

Flunk : Image Rajon Rondo - Having 6 assist is not bad, but having 4 points and being 2-8 from the field is.

Parker leads Cleveland to their 6th straight victory

Image
Old veteran Parker had 32 points.

Image

Cleveland was coming off a great revenge victory against the Celtics, while Chicago had a dominating win against the Jazz. While Chicago had the leading scorer Rose and Big Man Boozer, you had to think that Cavs would have a tough night. Instead, they came back in the 4th Q to get the W.

Cleveland did not have a great night in whole, but a great 4th quarter. Parker put 32 points on the board and 3 steals - 3 rebounds. Also, great play from DeRozan with 21 points. Jamison and Baron had only 12 points, but Parker and DeRozan picked it up. " Sometimes, I think that this team is controlled with SG. If Parker and DeRozan to something like this, it just proves my point " - told Williams, whos injure is getting better.

Image
DeRozan got 7 out of his 21 points from the FT line.

From the Bulls perspective, things were not great neither bad. Their main guys, Boozer and Rose, both got a double-double, while Ronnie Brewer help them with 11 points. Bulls wanted some great revenge against the beating they got in the playoffs, but got another loss. We talked to Rose after the game and he said : " Every game is not a winning game. Boozer stepped up and I had an good night too, but we aint gonna win everybody."

Image
Rose had 18, which is not great, but his 11 assist make up for it.

Image
Boozers 22 and 11 rebounds is a big reason for him to clap.

Cleveland is going to face the struggeling Clippers, while Bulls are going against the dominating Lakers.

Now, give a hand for....
Image
Star and Flunk of the Night !

Star : Image Anthony Parker - While being the starting shooting guard, and Cavaliers have the great DeRozan and Eyenga, how does this guy get 32 points ? Great play from this guy.

Flunk : Image Luol Deng - Having 27 minutes of play and getting 7 points, while shooting 3-16, is not good. Now mather how do you look at it.

Cavs @ Clippers

Postby Cruzerr on Sun Apr 24, 2011 8:18 pm

DeRozan does a career high in points and franchise high in FGM as they get the W

Image
DeRozan had 45 points and made 21 field goals.

Image

While Cleveland wanted to extend their miraculous streak of winning, Clippers wanted to get back to winning after losing to Golden State. While it seemed like it would be a really competitive match, Cavs dominated from the start.

Cleveland had a great night. Their shooting guards, Parker and DeRozan, combined 71 points, as DeRozan had a career high 45 points. Also, Gee had a great game with 23 points, Baron had 16 and 7 assists while Varejao got another double-double. We wanted to take a quick interview with Varejao, but before we could, we heard Demar coming out of the bathroom and screaming " F*ck yeah ! We don't need LeBron, we don't need him ! Who is the best !? " That was quickly said, but he told us that we can have a interview with him sometime soon.

Image
Another great game by Parker, having 26 points,

When we talk about the Clippers, it does not sound great. Kaman lead the team in scoring with 24 points and had 6 rebounds. Eric Gordon had 21 and 4 steals. Mo Williams did get only 9, but had 13 assist to show for it. We asked Mo if the trade was a good idea. He said : " No comment ". Seems that he is disappointed that Baron took his spot. Kaman on the other hand was happy : " My game was great, I am happy about it, but I am kinda disappointed about Blake. We all get tough nights but I was hoping more from Griffin . " Griffin had 10 points and 3 rebounds.

Image
Kaman was pretty good from the field, having 10-14.

Image
Gordon did have 21, but was 1-9 from downtown.

The Cavaliers will have their next game against the Suns at Phoenix. Phoenix was the first team to fall for this seven game win streak. Clippers however are going against Indiana, who beat them the first time they met.

Now, I give you..

Image
Star and Flunk of the Night !

Star : Image Demar Derozan - Being on fire these last games and having a new career record in points while making a new franchise record in field goals made is impressive. Demar is going to be big in the Cavs, and when Williams and Hickson are back, this team could be domination.

Flunk : Image Ryan Gomes - He was 2-7 from the field and had a lousy 5 points while playing 34 minutes. A big reason for this loss.

DeRozan Interview

Postby Cruzerr on Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:37 pm

Since he is been in the Cavaliers, many have believed that this guy will be the savior of Cleveland. His way to getting to the rim is unmatched and is a good shooter also. Demar DeRozan has been one of the talented guys, that are young and want to play the game. We had a quick interview with him.

Hi, Demar. Let me first congratulate you on the career record. How does it feels to play in Cleveland?

Hey thanks. It feels great you know. At first, I was bit skeptical about this team, but they have taken me nicely and I try to deliver every night.

So what happened in Los Angeles? Were you certain that this game you will dominate and make a new career and franchise record?

I felt great. Every night I want to come in with a mindset that I could go on a 30 point run. It intimidates the other team. Also, big factor for that win were my teammates. They always help me. It helped a lot when we got sweet revenge from the Celtics and won Chicago also.

How do you feel about the starting Shooting Guard spot?

Parker has it and he should hold it. I know that he is retiring and I may have more speed and strength than him, but he beats me with his experience. I am not mad that he has the spot and I do not. I can have it next year.

How does Byron Scott motivate you?

Well, he talks about his " well-oiled " Lakers and shows his 3 rings. He is a great coach and I am hoping that he can guide me to a ring also.

How do you feel about LeBron leaving?

Like I said, we do not need him. Let that guy take his talents to Florida.

What are your objectives for this year?

Making the all-star team or in the dunk contest would be great. Also, the playoffs would be nice also.

Alright, well good luck to you at the next game in Phoenix ! Go and extend that winning streak !

Will do, thank you.

Cavaliers take season series 2-0 and extend the streak to 8

Image
Jamison did not lead the scoring, but managed a double-double : 27 points and 11 rebounds.

Image

Last time these teams met, Cleveland started their winning streak, final score being 112-107. Cleveland came off a huge victory over Clippers and Suns were coming off a loss against the worst record team, Jazz. However, when Phoenix wanted to stop the streak, Cavaliers took another victory, getting their eight straight and winning the season series 2-0.

Cleveland had huge game from everybody. DeRozan finished with 32 points, Jamison had a double-double. So did Baron, who had 21 points and 10 assists. Anthony Parker finished with 17, while Gee had 20. " When we get our 10th straight, this team is something to be messing with in the playoffs. " - replied Byron Scott after the game.

Image
Baron had a nice night shooting from the field, hitting 9 out of 15.

Image
DeRozan dunks a lot, dunk contest anybody ?

From the Suns perspective, things were not great. Just like last time these teams met, Vince Carter lead the team in scoring, only this time having 23 points.Grant Hill was behind him with 19, Brooks had 15 and Gortat had a double-double : 11 points and 12 rebounds. We had a little chat with Carter after the game, who said : " The main reason for this lost was our shooting. We were 4-24 from downtown. We killed our self from there. I was the main reason, I had only what.. like 2-10 ? "

Image
Carter had a tough night from the field, shooting 8-28

The Suns will have their next game against Portland, while Cleveland wants to extend their streak at Denver.

Now, give a huge applause to..

Image
Star and Flunk of the Night !

Star : Image Antawn Jamison - Yeah, Demar had more points, but having a double-double like him is good. He picked his game up at the 4Q and is the main reason for the win.

Flunk :Image Ramon Sessions - Not his day, I guess. Being 0-1 from the field while having 10 minutes of play is not good, but better days will come.

Cr0ss0v3rk1ng Yup, I am trying to make them as future team leaders or so.

osaki Jamison and DeRozan are good pretty much every game. Davis steps up when its needed. I am hoping to get 10, next game is against Denver and the 10th will be Bulls *not certain right now*

Cavs burn Denver to get 9th straight victory

Image
J.R Smith having a great night, finishing with 29 points.

Image

Cleveland has been on fire these last games, having 8 straight while Denver has been solid, being 6-4 this season. While every team thought that this streak is a fluke, Cavaliers have beaten another team, giving them 9th straight, 1 away from 10.

Cleveland had a great game. DeRozan had 29 points, trading buckets with Smith. Gee managed to get 18 and 9 rebounds, while Jamison got the same amount of rebounds, but 17 points. Varejao had another double-double, with 10 points and 15 rebounds. As Cleveland has had their matchups this week, next week, while they will get a chance for the 10th straight, T-Will and Hickson should be back. " We had a good night. I am thinking that the Nets have to come up with something spectacular, because when Williams and Hickson are back, this team will be in another level. " - commented Parker, who managed to get 14 points.

Image
DeRozan, with only 19 minutes of play, was 12-16 from the field.

Image
Gee is the starter for now, but when Terrence is back, things might change.

On Denvers side, things were not bad. J.R Smith was trading points with DeRozan, but finished with the same amount - 29. Their newly traded point guard Raymond Felton had 17 points and 11 assists. Also, some great play was from " The Birdman " Chris Anderson and Danilo Gallinari, who both had 12 points.
When we asked Smith about DeRozans play, he replied : " This guy is a young superstar. Not to mention that he is on a huge rise. He might be a key player for Cleveland, but it is early to say. Overall, great game. "

Image
Despite having a great game, Felton was 50% from the field.

Cavaliers will have their decisive 10th game against New Jersey, while Denver will test their might against Miami Heat.

Now, let me present to you...

Now,..
Image
Star and Flunk of the Night !

Star : Image Demar DeRozan - Choosing between Demar and J.R was not easy, but as Demar was better from the field, and had some assists (4:1) to show for it, I am giving this one to DeRozan.

Flunk :Image Al Harrington - Being 0-7 from the field, while coming off a 25 point game, is not good.

Huge announcement

Postby Cruzerr on Thu Apr 28, 2011 11:16 pm

Well, lets kick off another Around The... Wait, it seems like we have a guest. Commissioner Stern !

Hello. All of you that wanted to see the Around The League, well its been canceled. I have a Huge announcement! For the first time of the NBA history, fans can vote for...

Sprite Slam Dunk Contest Participants !

Here is how it works : 6 top teams from their conferences, as of today, will represent one of their players. You HAVE TO vote for the one that will get eliminated, not the one you want to see.

Now, if you do not know who to vote for, here are this years participants !

East(team, ranking, record)

Image

Image DeMar DeRozan (Cavaliers, 3rd, 9-2) - Being the young star in Cleveland and a last year participant, he hopes this year, he will leave with the title.

Image Dwyane Wade (Heat, 2nd, 10-2) - As LeBron did not want to participate, we asked Wade for it. As Wade has serious hops for a 6`4 player, you have to think that he will be something else to watch.

Image Danny Granger (Pacers, 1st, 11-2) - Danny is one of the most athletic dunkers in this game. If you want something flashy, you got it.

Image Jason Richardson (Magic, 4th-5th, 7-6) - J-Rich skilled dunking is not really shown in the game, but when he has a open court and the ball, he wont disappoint.

Image Ronnie Brewer (Bulls, 4th-5th, 7-6) - Eliminated

Image Paul Pierce (Celtics, 6th, 8-7) - Eliminated

West

Image

Image Rudy Gay (Grizzles, 6th, 7-5) - Not anymore the star in Grizzles as Zack gets the spotlight, but Rudy could make some serious noise in the competition.

Image J.R Smith (Nuggets, 5th, 8-5) - " We Just Saw A Man Fly ! " Do you need anymore explanation ?

Image Brandon Roy (Trail Blazers, 4th, 7-4) - Roy is a very skillful player both shooting and dunking. Portland had no one else to offer, so Roy took the spot.

Image Monta Ellis ( Warriors, 1th, 8-2) - Ellis seems being uninjured, as Warriors lead the conference. Ellis has a lot to offer, so he can make a lot of people wonder.

Image Shannon Brown (Lakers, 2th, 9-3) - Making every bad pass into a alley-oop, you got to say, that this guy does not mess around when it comes to dunking.

Image Trevor Ariza (Hornets, 3th, 5-2) - Ariza is the most athletic player in the Hornets squad, who loves to dunk. Enough said.

Nets @ Cavs

Postby Cruzerr on Fri Apr 29, 2011 9:41 pm

T-Will returns and gives a huge boost as Cleveland get their 10th straight

Image
Williams had 22 points and 13 assists but was not enough to stop the Cavs.

Image

Cleveland was coming off their 9th straight victory against Denver. New Jersey on the other hand, were looking to get over 500. It seemed that Nets would be the team to stop them, but the return of Terrence made a huge difference.

Cleveland had some solid team effort. The return of Terrence Williams was great, as he had 29 points and 7 rebounds. DeRozan had 24 and Jamison also stepped up with 17 points. You have to say that judging by the look of things, Cleveland will make some noise this season. We had a little chat with Terrence who said : " I am so excited to be back. This team has been doing great without me and now, I want to step up and help them even more. Getting DeRozan was also a good move, he is a good young player."

Image
Even though he had 29 points, he was 13-22 from the field.

Image
DeRozan is having a good week, as he got nominated for the dunk contest.

Nets had a good game. Williams had a nice double-double, while Morrow had 19 points and Lopez had 17 points. Outlaw did have only 12 points, but had 9 rebounds.Everybody thought that Nets was going to take this one, but Nets have been really bad right now, losing 3 straight. " We are really bad right now. I might be like third in most points scored, but we need to step it up. If we get the record we had last year, this is bad then. "

Image
Lopez is a consistent scorer, but lacks at rebounding - having 3 rebounds per game.

New Jersey will try to get out of the slump by facing New Orleans, while Cleveland wants to extend the streak against Chicago.

Dont Forget To Vote For The Sprite Slam Dunk Contest Participants ! Voting ends when I post the game against San Antonio !

Last but not least, the...
Image
Star and Flunk of the Night !

Star : Image Terrence Williams : Coming back from an injury is never easy. But coming back with such a bang and helping them get the 10th straight is special.

Flunk : Image Jordan Farmar : When ever he came in, the Cavs took the lead. He had no assists, 2 boards and 0 points. Not good play by Jordan.
