Thunder Up! - Conference Finals Summary

Postby Justine. on Wed Apr 20, 2011 11:07 am

Spurs sweep Warriors, next stop NBA Finals

Image

The San Antonio Spurs is named as the Western Conference champion of this season, after sweeping the underrated Golden State Warriors in their best of seven series.

Spurs used a balanced scoring in Game 4, where 3 players scored double-figures, Tim Duncan looks like fine like wine put up a unforgettable playoffs performance in Game 3, where he had a monster double-double, 31 points and 22 rebounds and finished the Game 4 with 20 points, 15 rebounds and five swats. Monta Ellis and the Warriors almost won the Game 1 but Aaron Brooks' buzzerbeater jumper stunned the Warriors.

Series MVP: Tim Duncan

Celtics return to NBA Finals, after downing Heat in a seven games

Image

Of course there will always a team that will able to stop Miami Heat, and that is the Boston Celtics, as they outlast LeBron James and co. to advance again to the NBA Finals like last year.

The Eastern Conference champion is decided by a seven exciting games, Kevin Garnett returned to the Celtics' lineup and refuse to lose. Paul Pierce' 20 point performance led the Celtics in their Game 7 seven win, Rajon Rondo near came up with a triple-double that game, 17 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. The Heat blowout the Celtics in their hometown to take Game 1, but Celtics refuse to repeat that kind of performance and take the next game to even the series. LeBron title hope came up short again, and like last year it is against the Boston Celtics.

Series MVP: Rajon Rondo

Grandmama Johnson, Warriors is really surprising, but they got swept :(

Cruzerr, Spurs to the Finals, that Celtics-Heat series is really a blast, each team won't give a chance, but Celtics are definitely better :)

George7, I also love Bulls to advance, but Heat is a better team than them.

Valdis, Well your sim results will not be the same as here.

Thierry •, The youngest team in the league  And there you have it, your Spurs will return to the Finals. Hope they lose though :P

Thunder Up! - NBA Finals Preview

Postby Justine. on Wed Apr 20, 2011 9:37 pm

Image

Image

(1) Image Boston Celtics (60-22) vs (4) Image San Antonio Spurs (48-34)

Projected Starters: R. Rondo | R. Allen | P. Pierce | Kevin Garnett | S. O'Neal | 6th Man - T. Prince
Projected Starters: A. Brooks | M. Ginobili | R. Jefferson | T. Duncan | Y. Ming | 6th Man - G. Hill

After a long 82 regular season games, three playoff series that both team had, it's the most exciting time of the season, the NBA Finals.

The top-seeded Boston Celtics will return to the NBA Finals and try to win the Larry O'Brien trophy as they were not able to grab it last year's appearance, that aim will not be easy though as they will have to face the heavy San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs swept the Golden State Warriors in their Western Conference Finals bout as they were crowned as the West Champion, Celtics somehow escaped Miami Heat and outlast them in seven games.

With Yao Ming finally healthy and will return to the Spurs' lineup this should be a very exciting Finals series. Kevin Garnett also is looking sharp and free from nagging injury. But some players like Aaron Brooks, Manu Ginobili, Rajon Rondo and Shaquille O'Neal must still continue their consistent performance like in their previous series, Celtics will rely to their tight defense while the Spurs will try to tear this defense and score more points than the Celtics. Based on how they performed this playoffs, the series might go beyond and will reach seven games, a very especial deciding game for the crowning of the NBA Champion.

Prediction: Spurs in 7

Damn that sucks. I guess the Yao trade was the big move they needed to get over the top.

Download my playoff crowd for OKC and I guarantee a trip to the Finals next year

Cruzerr, Let's see :)

George7, I prefer a Lakers-Celtics once more, but they got knocked off

Thierry •, Your Spurs will lose :P

KidJustin, Even though Yao's acquisition is a big gamble, we all can agree that bringing Brooks is a huge move.

qfrmcpt310, Just saw it, awesome. Will try it next season (Y)

I really like this finals series. Two teams looking to cash in before their title window closes. The Yao-Shaq matchup will be particularly interesting and I completely agree: this has 7 games written all over it :)

Great preview, Justine. Can't wait!

Grandmama Johnson, Oldies! I'm pretty sure Shaq will win it, he's been very impressive with list last games, racking up 20 points or less and Yao is pretty much injured, hope he can stay healthy throughout the series.

Short recap for Game 1 and 2 coming!

Thunder Up! - NBA Finals Coverage, Shaq's Retirement

Postby Justine. on Thu Apr 21, 2011 7:47 pm

Image

Rondo's triple-double led the Celtics to take game one

Image

San Antonio Spurs won every first game of their previous series in these years Playoffs and eventually winning the series, but the Boston Celtics won't let them do that again especially in front of an energized, full packed greened-shirt fans.

Rajon Rondo opened the NBA Finals with a bang, finishing the Game 1 with a triple-double, a normal achievement for him now. He scored 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished 11 assists and had three steals and led the Celtics to a 114-92 victory, as they jump ahead in series against the Spurs, 1-0. A vintage Shaquille O'Neal performance was also witnessed, Shaq had 20 points, five rebounds and three blocks in the game, Kevin Garnett added a double-double, 17 points and 14 rebounds while sixth man Tayshaun Prince contributed 19 points.

As for the Spurs, Yao Ming returned and played his first NBA Finals game, and it should be forgotten. He only scored 12 points on a 4-of-10 shooting, but speaking of inefficiency almost all of the Spurs struggled, obviously against the Boston's staggering defense, Tim Duncan had 21 points on a 5-of-12 shooting, Manu Ginobili had 23 points, while Aaron Brooks had only nine points on a poor 3-of-11 night for the Spurs who just made 27 shots out of their 72 attempts.

Celtics take 2-0 lead behind Pierce and Allen's 22 points

Image

Boston Celtics made sure that they will have the advantage before the series will shift to San Antonio, and yes they did.

Paul Pierce and Ray Allen each scored 22 points as the Celtics pulled a win, 114-109 and take a commanding 2-0 lead against the San Antonio Spurs. Rajon Rondo added 20 points for his team, while Kendrick Perkins had a excellent game coming off the bench, scoring 13 points and grabbing nine boards in just 15 minutes of playing time but Boston must have to limit their fouls next game as they let the Spurs to went into the free throw line 57 times.

Manu Ginobili continued to be the Spurs go-to-guy as he scored a team-high 28 points while George Hill had an impressive 23 points off the bench in the losing effort. Yao Ming ended up with nine points and 15 rebounds while Aaron Brooks begun to cool down as he only just scored eight points in his 36 minutes in the court.

Game 3 will be on the home of Spurs and they will try to win this game and so as the next to even up the series.

Big Shamrock planning to retire if Celtics will win the title

Image

Shaquille O'Neal or as known as 'The Big Shamrock' said on a recent interview that he will announced his retirement if the Boston Celtics will beat the San Antonio Spurs and win the Celtics 18th title, and fifth ring for Shaq.

The 7-footer, future Hall of Famer, averaged 12.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game for the Celtics this season, he's having a career-low in points, rebounds, blocks, FG% and showing signs of age. "I don't think I can go through the daily grind of another season." O'Neal stated. "But it's pretty awesome if we will win the title this time, and that's the perfect time to quit."

Celtics is now currently leading the series 2-0 against the Spurs and will look to take a favorable 3-0 lead as the series will shift to San Antonio.

So far so good for the C's. Knowing the sim engine on 2k11 though, no series lead is safe.
