Skiles is not the right coach for the Grizzlies :D Z-Bo, Mayo and Gay actually playing D? No really.

LBJ's PER has really gone down with the Kings, I mean he usually is around ~30.

The Bulls are a top address in the league. Good job.

It's the Grizzlies, who knows
LeBron hasn't really benefited from sharing the ball with two other ball handlers in Tyreke and Manu I guess, he still puts up big numbers though, but the Kings need a lot more help

Yeah I'm pretty happy about that, although it could be because all the weak teams are just too weak.....

2012 NBA Playoffs Preview: First Round
Image

Western Conference
1. Los Angeles Lakers (69-13) v 8. Portland Trailblazers (41-41)

Key Rotation
Los Angeles Lakers: Steve Blake | Kobe Bryant | Ron Artest | Pau Gasol | Andrew Bynum | Lamar Odom | Matt Barnes
Portland Trailblazers: Will Sit | Brandon Roy | Stanley Robinson | LaMarcus Aldridge | Marcus Camby | Rudy Fernandez | Luis Scola

Comment: Kobe Bryant and the Lakers will kick off their quest for an unbelievable four-peat against the youthful Portland Trailblazers. While the Blazers consist of talent such as the always-solid Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge, as well as rookie of the year contender Will Sit, they are just too far behind in terms of experience, toughness, and depth to match up against the three time champions. As a 69 win team going against a team that barely finished the season at .500, the Lakers will look to sweep the Blazers aside and advance onwards with no problems.

ESPN Prediction: Lakers in 4

2. New Orleans Hornets (66-16) v 7. San Antonio Spurs (46-36)

Key Rotation
New Orleans Hornets: Chris Paul | Ben Gordon| Al Harrington | David West | Emeka Okafor | Kemba Walker | Anthony Morrow
San Antonio Spurs: Tony Parker | JR Smith | Richard Jefferson | Tim Duncan | Greg Oden | Octavius Ocho | George Hill

Comment: Ever since they took the then defending champion Spurs to 7 games in the Western Conference Semifinals back in 2008, the Hornets have been knocked out of the first round in each of the last three years. After undergoing a massive change in players in the middle of last season, the Hornets have taken off. This year they started the year with a historic 25-0 record, easily setting a new record for the best start in NBA history and the 25 game streak was only second to the Lakers' 33 game win streak back in 1972. The Hornets eventually slowed down a little but still finished with a dominant record of 66-16. This is their perfect chance of attaining revenge on the declining Spurs, who ever since losing Manu Ginobili to the Sacramento Kings via Free Agency has been struggling. The Spurs missed the playoffs last year and drafted Sudan center Octavius Ocho, who has had a solid rookie campaign, and also signed former first overall pick Greg Oden during the summer. However, the team's success still rests on the shoulders of the Big Fundamental Tim Duncan, and at age 35, it is evident that his production and impact is just not as good as before.

ESPN Prediction: Hornets in 5

3. Houston Rockets (62-20) v 6. Sacramento Kings (46-36)

Key Rotation
Houston Rockets: Jonny Flynn | Kevin Martin | Trevor Ariza | Antawn Jamison | Yao Ming | Martti Must | Shane Battier
Sacramento Kings: Tyreke Evans | Manu Ginobili | LeBron James | Jason Thompson | Solomon Alabi | Mo Williams | Zydrunas Ilgauskas

Comment: The third 60+ win team in the Western Conference this season, the Houston Rockets have been playing tremendous basketball behind the leadership of center Yao Ming. The 7 foot 6 giant from China has played his second straight 82 game campaign, the first time since his rookie-sophomore seasons, and has been a force on the defensive end of the floor, blocking nearly three shots a game. Rockets management has done a good job surrounding Yao with a solid supporting cast, from the stretch fours in Antawn Jamison and rookie Martti Must, to the scorer in Kevin Martin, and the defensive duo of Shane Battier and Trevor Ariza, Houston has the depth, talent, and structure to succeed in the postseason. For LeBron James and the Kings it will be a very difficult task to pull off an upset here, as their weakness lies with their frontcourt players, and they have a big problem (no pun intended) in Yao Ming to deal with in this series.

ESPN Prediction: Rockets in 5

4. Oklahoma City Thunder (55-27) v 5. Dallas Mavericks (49-33)

Key Rotation
Oklahoma City Thunder: Russell Westbrook | James Harden | Kevin Durant | Jeff Green | David Lee | Cole Aldrich | Ryan Anderson
Dallas Mavericks: Jason Kidd | Caron Butler | Shawn Marion | Dirk Nowitzki | Marc Gasol | Jason Terry | Rodrigue Beaubois

Comment: In what is widely perceived as the last season for future hall of famer Jason Kidd's career, he has stepped up his game further as he led the league with a career best assist average of just under 12 a game. Furthermore, Caron Butler has blossomed under the leadership of Kidd and Nowitzki in his three seasons in Dallas and has had his two best seasons in this year and the last, averaging around 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals per contest. Dirk is still Dirk and these components make the Dallas Mavericks the most probable team to pull off an upset in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs. The duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook is potent, but if the Mavs could contain them and exploit the advantage with Jeff Green marking Dirk Nowitzki, they have a very good chance of winning.

ESPN Prediction: Mavericks in 6

Eastern Conference
1. Orlando Magic (61-21) v 8. Atlanta Hawks (43-39)

Key Rotation
Orlando Magic: Jameer Nelson | Vince Carter | Rashard Lewis | Brandon Bass | Dwight Howard | Mickael Pietrus | Dejuan Blair
Atlanta Hawks: Mike Bibby | Joe Johnson | John Salmons | Ekpe Udoh | Al Horford | Marvin Williams | Thierry Tirieux

Comment: The Atlanta Hawks will take another shot at the Orlando Magic when the two teams meet in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinals set at Amway Center. They were completely demolished in their previous meeting in the postseason by the Magic as Dwight Howard dominated them on both ends of the floor with ease. Despite their motivation to take revenge on their division rivals, however, the chances for success seems bleak for Atlanta. The Magic have dominated this season from start to finish, although Chicago's late run did gave them a scare as the number one overall seed, but a solid, gritty win in the season finale solved that problem. Dwight Howard is as good as ever and his supporting casts have stepped up their game and seems ready to play. The formula for success for the Magic remains the same and the Hawks have their work cut out for them if they want to win even a game.

ESPN Prediction: Magic in 4

2. Chicago Bulls (60-22) v 7. Boston Celtics (43-39)

Key Rotation
Chicago Bulls: Derrick Rose | Kirk Hinrich | Luol Deng | Carlos Boozer | Joakim Noah | Sasha Vujacic | Kyle Korver
Boston Celtics: Rajon Rondo | Ray Allen | Paul Pierce | Kevin Garnett | Rasheed Wallace | Andre Miller | Glen Davis

Comment: Another deja vu series, the Bulls match up with the Celtics for the third time in the last four seasons. After being eliminated in the first round in 2009 and last season following two thrilling 7 game series, the 60 win Bulls led by MVP Candidate Derrick Rose will look to take vengeance upon the aging Celtics, who fell at the very end of the season from the fourth seed to the seventh and finished with a mediocre record at 43-39. Aside from the rise of the triple double threat Rajon Rondo, the Boston core is on the decline and this is the perfect opportunity for the streaking hot Chicago team to strike.

ESPN Prediction: Bulls in 5

3. Miami Heat (56-26) v 6. Milwaukee Bucks

Key Rotation
Miami Heat: Liam Washburn | Dwyane Wade | Michael Beasley | Josh Smith | Dan Hicks | Udonis Haslem | Michael Conley
Milwuakee Bucks: Brandon Jennings | Michael Redd | Carmelo Anthony | Derrick Favors | Andrew Bogut | Harrison Barnes | Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

Comment: From the outset, this series looks to be a battle between the two clear cut superstars from the 2003 draft class - Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat and Carmelo Anthony of the Milwaukee Bucks. A deeper look will reveal two of the best defensive bigs and both defensive player of the year candidates Josh Smith and Andrew Bogut, then there are the potential filled youngsters Brandon Jennings and Michael Beasley; last but not least two rookie of the year contenders Liam Washburn and Harrison Barnes are involved. This series is full of intriguing big named players and battles and will certainly be one of the most competitive first round series in these 2012 playoffs.

ESPN Prediction: Heat in 7

4. Philadelphia 76ers (45-37) v 5. Washington Wizards (55-27)

Key Rotation
Philadelphia 76ers: JJ Barea | Allen Iverson | Andre Iguodala | Renardo Sidney | Elton Brand | Thaddeus Young | Jrue Holiday
Washington Wizards: Gilbert Arenas | Mike Miller | Andrei Kirilenko | Chris Bosh | Tyrus Thomas | Shannon Brown | Josh Howard

Comment: If it wasn't for a division title, the Philadelphia 76ers would definitely not enjoy any home court whatsoever. Edging out the Celtics in the final stretch of the season for the division title, the Sixers are rewarded with home court in the first round and a date against the stacked Washington Wizards. The Wizards have three All-Stars in Arenas, Bosh, and Tyrus Thomas, have solid starters in Mike Miller and AK47, and their bench consists of Shannon Brown, Josh Howard and Javale McGee. Despite being a 5th seed this Washington team is a legit championship contender, and the Sixers are definitely the underdogs in this one. However, they do have the man who thrives being the underdog in Allen Iverson, who despite being at the age of 36 has been able to lead his team with 24 points and 5 assists per game along with 2 steals. Iverson has recaptured All-Star status this season and will look to lead his Sixers to upset victories in these playoffs.

ESPN Prediction: Wizards in 6

I like Houston's lineup, apart from the brick-shooter that is Ariza, but he is a good defensive player to go alongside Battier. (Y) Yao will prove that he is better than LeBron in that series.

Good luck against the Celtics! This is the perfect opportunity for vengeance against the retirement home.

Bulls Rout Celtics for Game 1 Victory

The Celtics could only watch as Rose and the Bulls demolished them here in game 1

Chicago, IL - Twice in his short NBA career, Derrick Rose has been to the playoffs.

Twice, the Boston Celtics sent him home.

Now in his fourth season and his third playoff apperance, Derrick Rose is not about to allow the Celtics to knock him out of the postseason party again.

Rose scored a game high 37 points, along with 4 rebounds and 5 assists and went 15 for 23 from the field as he led the Chicago Bulls to a dominating blowout victory here in game 1 against the Boston Celtics, 100-74.

1 down, 3 to go.

The Bulls began the game on fire offensively, scoring 28 points as Rose got his team to an early start.

Then, they got down to the other side of the floor.

Chicago clamped down on d and allowed only 13 points in the second quarter as they blew the lead open, and never looked back since.

Boston's regular season star Rajon Rondo was held without a bucket in the entire game, he finished with just 2 points, 4 rebounds but did have 10 assists.

The Celtics were led by their wing duo of Ray Allen (18 points), and Paul Pierce (17 points). Rasheed Wallace had 12 points and 10 rebounds while Kevin Garnett added 11 and 7.

None of it was enough to take down the Bulls, as they forced the defending Eastern Conference Champions to make only 29 of their 80 field goal attempts (36%), including a dismal 3 for 20 from beyond the arc.

The Celtics did knock down 13 of their 16 foul shots and only turned the ball over 8 times, but they were out-rebounded 35 to 49 and outscored 28-48 in the paint as the bigs from the Bulls dominated in the middle.

Joakim Noah, who won this season's rebounding title with 12.6 rebounds a game, finished with 15 boards along with his 11 points for a double-double while his front court partner Carlos Boozer had 15 and 9.

Luol Deng added 13 points and played great defense, alongside Kirk Hinrich, on Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Pierce and Allen were a combined 14 for 40 from the field despite leading the Celtics in scoring.

"The old cliche still stands" said Byron Scott "Defense wins championships and we did a good job on that side of the floor tonight"

Game 2 of this best of seven first round series will take place here at the United Center on April 22nd, 2012.

Good victory for you, but how the hell did the Bucks win Miami ? Did Bogut get like 10 rebounds or so ?
