Then, thanks a lot :D I think a Spurs-Mavs series has a big chance of happening in the West Semis.

I might do the Dunk Contest in 2K11, because of the props. What do you guys say: Maggs in the Dunk Contest? :cheeky:

The Texas Longhorns had something to prove after a great win over Ohio State. They thought it would be a more contested game, but had no trouble making their point against a hapless Georgia Tech squad. Axel Gomez scored 23 points and six assists to lead Texas to the first NCAA Tournament Game appearance in their history. Georgia Tech raced to a 15-6 lead before most of the crowd had even settled into its seats, but Texas rallied to cut the deficit to 22-19. Gomez and Shawn Williams carried the team on their shoulders and posted a 37-33 at halftime, and then Texas pushed the margin as high as 26 points in the fourth period against a Yellow Jackets team that never quite found their shooting touch. “That was a total team effort,” said Williams, who added 17 points. “The starters did what they're supposed to do and the guys off the bench provided a huge spark.” In the second quarter, Georgia Tech missed their first six shots and never seriously challenged the Longhorns.

After coach Rick Barnes called out of his team for not showing up in the first frame, Texas played with more passion. Of course, it also helped to have the Alexis Wangmene / Clint Chapman tandem in the inside. Chapman, who missed the game against the Buckeyes because of a dislocated finger, scored seven points and eight rebounds, while Wangmene had eight points, all in the second half. The Yellow Jackets were coming off an excellent defensive display over the Kentucky Wildcats, but they didn't come any close to repeat. “We didn't play smart,” said Martti Must, who led his team with 15 points. “Not talking, not playing basketball the way it needs to be played. It's a shame because I thought we could challenge them.” Iman Shumpert scored 14 points and seven assists, but Georgia Tech was outmanned.

(1) Duke 76 vs. (2) Michigan State 74
Game Info | Boxscores (Duke - Michigan State) •

With his team in a deep hole, Mike Krzyzewski turned to his bench. The result was a big rally and a passport to the National Championship game: Will Sit and Jon Scheyer helped Duke defeat the Michigan State Spartans, 76-74. But the Blue Devils never would be able to defeat the Spartans, had it not been for reserves Seth Curry and Nolan Smith, inserted by Coach K with his team down by 11 points in the beginning of the third period, 53-42. In they came, and Duke responded with a 11-1 surge, including a 3-pointer by Smith and six points by Curry, to cut it to 54-53. “The bench came in and gave us a big boost,” said Scheyer. “They gave us energy and they're the ones that got us back in position to win.” Sit scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Scheyer had 13, four boards and four assists. Michigan State still led 70-69 on a 3-pointer by Durrell Summers, but Sit was fouled by Delvon Roe on a dunk and made the three-point play to put Duke ahead, 72-70 with 1 minute left.

Raymar Morgan then dunked on a fastbreak, to tie the contest at 72. Dolph Lundgren and Sit then traded baskets for a 74-74 tie. But Scheyer broke free after a tussle with Morgan for the ball to get the go-ahead stuff. Kalin Lucas missed a jumper at the buzzer that would have tied it. “They're a tough team to guard,” said Sit, “They scored 100 points their last two games. But we did a nice job. We took advantage of some mismatches that they gave us to score.” Sit, Scheyer and Singler were the three Blue Devils in double figures. For Michigan State, Morgan had 16 points, Lundgren added 15 points and 11 rebounds and Lucas scored 13 points. Summers finished with 12. “We were not in synch in the second half,” said Lucas. “I thought we were in control to close it out. But they made some tough shots, and I think we were a little undersized there for a minute. Some fans will be disappointed after both 100-point games, but it wasn't supposed to be a cakewalk for us.”

TD still needs a couple of games off. Suns, we won't see them in the postseason this year. I guess they will start to rebuild. Maybe you can end up with them in the draft and backup the Canadian. :cheeky:

Thanks a lot man. As you can see, real life is leaving me with very little time recently. So I wanna recap this last five games and the playoffs, and for the next seasons expect shorter weekly recaps.

Yeah Tiago has surprised me. Crossing my fingers for him, let's see if he can win the 6th Man award. :headbang:

It's Axel vs. Sit in the Finals: duel of point guards. Thoughts?

Well then, the ideal NCAA Championship matchup, 1st seed vs. 1st seed. Ought to be a close game. I think at this point, you'll end up getting the same record that the RL Spurs get. :)

Spurs & Hawks light up the scoreboard; JJ wins scoring duel, but Manu wins the contest
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (SAS :: ATL)

ATLANTA, April 5 -- Manu Ginobili dribbled towards the hoop. He didn't get the basket, but he did draw a foul. Then he dribbled again and scored his classic Euro Step move for a layup. The game was only 1 minute old, yet Manu already was in full motion. After scoring only eight points against Phoenix, Ginobili featured a jaw-dropping scoring duel with Joe Johnson, scoring a season-high 28 points and making 10-of-12 field goals -- another season-high -- while leading the San Antonio Spurs past the Atlanta Hawks, 120-113. The Argentinian also had five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block on Johnson, while making three 3-pointers. “I'll never stop saying this, Manu really is a special player,” his coach Gregg Popovich said. “Boy, what a statline.” His teammate Tony Parker commented, “He's an inspiration on and off the floor. He's been a professional all season long. He's been criticized, even though he's one of the team's best players, people are still not satisfied. He said it, he had a bad game against the Suns but he bounced back very quickly.” Parker was his sidekick, contributing with 17 points, six rebounds and 13 assists.

“I thought both Manu and Tony had a really good feel for how the game was planned,” added Popovich. “Manu got to the free-throw line and ran all over the court. Tony also scored but he definitely did a great job getting his teammates involved.” Corey Maggette benefited from the Frenchman's passing, with 20 points, three assists and three steals, again showing his dunking skills, while Larry Hughes and George Hill added 12 and 11 points, respectively, off the bench. “You have to give Atlanta some credit,” said Hill. “They had a great game plan against us. But we got the win because we learned from our mistakes in previous games. We were able to move the basketball and get some great looks to score.” San Antonio made 60 percent of its shots and that was even with 14 turnovers and 21 team fouls. Tiago Splitter had 16 points and nine rebounds, but his most impressive number might've been his playing time of 42 minutes. “He had a breakfast with Duracell batteries,” joked his frontcourt buddy DeJuan Blair. “He didn't look tired at all. He was charged up for this game.” Blair had nine points and eight boards for San Antonio.

Atlanta looked scary sometimes with the scoring trio of Johnson, Michael Beasley and Mike Bibby, but the Hawks allowed their most points this season in a game in regulation -- 120. The problems were at both ends of the court as the Hawks were outrebounded (35-31), dominated in the paint (62-42 for the Spurs) and their bench was outscored (29-22 for San Antonio's reserves). “It was a close game, but to be honest, at no point in the contest I thought we could really stop them,” said Bibby, who had 19 points. The losses are becoming common, too -- this was Atlanta's fourth straight loss. “We looked like we were a little tired. But our guys have been battling,” explained Joe, who had a game-best 38 points. Beasley, 16 points scored, said: “I'm on the train with them, whether it gets rocky or not. It's a tough time for us right now.” Atlanta was within 69-66 in the middle of the third, but a dunk by Ginobili started a quick 8-0 rally for the Spurs, that also included a 3-pointer from Parker, for a 77-66 lead. A couple of minutes later, the home team responded with a 13-2 spurt, tying the game at 88, and it was a thriller from there. But San Antonio took advantage down the stretch as the Hawks' energy tanks were almost completely empty. Atlanta head coach Larry Drew said, “They had a lot more energy than we did in the last minutes of the night. We just didn't get enough stops. They seemed to take the momentum and put us away.”

River Walk Chronicles ♦ Spurs Beat

Postby kibaxx7 on Mon Apr 11, 2011 11:27 am

Image
Splitter an inside force for the Spurs as winning streak continues
    nba.com/spurs/beat | April 6th, 2011

SAN ANTONIO -- Two plays within 30 seconds, a jump shot and a standing dunk; two plays that speak to the emergence of Tiago Splitter as an offensive force in San Antonio's gameplan. Two plays that set him apart from other young big men. The first was kind of simple by most standards but not something Splitter is used to providing -- in fact, Elias Sports Bureau tells us that only an 8 percent of Splitter's shots this season were jumpshots. The second was more graceful and more typical of him, proof of the varied skills he possesses. Two plays in a thrilling 120-113 victory over the Atlanta Hawks yesterday, but two plays that speak to the Brazilian's development. “He made a couple of tough field goals. You can see how he's developed more to his game, than whether it's just going to be a good night shooting for him or not,” assistant coach Mike Budenholzer said of Splitter, who provided 16 points and nine rebounds in the night, San Antonio's sixth straight win.

“I'm happy. I'm developing my game and that's a credit to my teammates,” said Splitter. “I was able to go to the basket and score with some post moves. But my teammates kept passing me the ball, sometimes I make a mistake or I lose the ball, they still have trust in me, still pass me the ball, so that's credit for them.” It was San Antonio's inside power that separated them from Atlanta, and the athleticism of Manu Ginobili and the court vision of Tony Parker that gave the Spurs a new victory. Ginobili, who scored a game-high 28 points (14 in each half), had a thunderous dunk that awoke the crowd and put San Antonio up five points, 66-61, in the first moments of the third quarter. And that's when Splitter really went to work -- ten of his 16 points came in those 12 minutes. The rookie, who didn't miss any games this season, taking part in all 78 games, brings the same intensity and energy to every game, not a trait all of his teammates can say they have. He has scored in double figures in four of his last six games, and also had nine double-doubles this year, including four in a row in December. Not to mention, he's making a strong case for the Sixth Man of the Year award.

“If he keeps playing the way he's been playing, he'll get more and more minutes,” coach Gregg Popovich said of Splitter. He didn't lie: Tiago played a career-high 42 minutes against the Hawks. “He's making it very difficult to take him off the floor.” Despite playing in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Philips Center, one sector of the arena, packed of Spurs fans, afforded a long and loud ovation for him when he conducted a post-game interview on the court with TNT reporter Craig Sager and his eccentric suits. “It was really touching for me. I really can't thank the fans enough,” he said. Parker, who started out 5-of-7 from the floor, went into a small funk in the second half, going 2-of-9, but posted six rebounds, a game-high 13 assists and an impact on Splitter. When asked where his effort comes from, the Brazilian joked: “Call him whatever you like... Tony, TP, the Frenchman... surfing the net I saw 'The Croissant', 'The Speedster' and 'The Silver Surfer'...”
