Is anyone else keeping up with this guy? His numbers in Atlanta: 35.9 mpg, 14.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg and 5.0 apg. He's just started a streak of triple doubles, picking up his second playing in back to back games. He's also had a few near triple doubles and quite a few double digit rebounding games. He can play both guard spots so I'm not surprised by the assist numbers, but I can't believe the rebounds.

I know, I was just telling my brother that I wished Vince Carter rebounded like Bob Sura, I wish every guard rebounded like him, he's their on the offensive and defensive glass, he's been real impressive. He won't get a big contract but he'll definately be looked at in the off-season.

I'd like to see him get regular court time next year, hopefully as a starter. The same goes for Flip Murray. Sura was pretty much tossed aside after his career year of 1999/2000, so it would be nice to see him get another shot.

I should also give a shoutout to Nick, since he actually told me about a big game Sura had a few weeks back, which is when I started keeping up with Sura in the boxscores. (Y)

yeah this isn't much of a surprise. the guy plays both guard spots, is a good play maker, plays D and rebounds.....but he wouldn't make starter for many teams, since he's on the Hawks though

Bobby Sura is a tough cunt (y)

I picked him up for my fantasy team somewhere around the start of the second season at sportingnews.com fantasy b-ball and it has paid off!

And the Hawks have had some good games recently, Stephen Jackson and Chris Crawford putting up some big numbers at times, and Jason Terry of course is still going.

You can chalk up Bobby Sura to the other list of players who can (still) play when given the minutes but have for some reason been forgotten about or overlooked. So far, that would include Jim Jackson, Raja Bell, Marquis Daniels (where the hell did he come from?), Brent Barry and Antonio Daniels (been injured) in Seattle... and I'm sure there are others around the league, Kendal Gill would be another though he has been injured and affected by the Bulls lottery of a rotation.

Marquis Daniels had 33 points in a losing effort against the Sonics today. It probably isn't enough for the Mavericks to consider getting rid of Nash and Finley just yet though.

I got Marquis Daniels on my fantasy team, and also Damon Jones who's been averaging 7.5 assists this year as a starter.

At nbalive.org Mike D made an interesting observation that Bobby Sura is having better numbers in his new team than Rasheed Wallace. hehe.
Yes i'm aware that Sura is a higher primacy guy in a shitter team than wallace... its just funny...

Nob-face.. i mean Stevan wrote:Marquis Daniels (where the hell did he come from?)

Ya know what, i'd like to know that too, i'm gonna do some research...

...

...

Ok.. i thought he was drafted this year in the 2nd round, but i was wrong. He wasn't even! Undrafted rookie. That' some good scouting then i guess because Daniels is
HOT right now... 20.3 ppg (59.5 FG%) in the last 3 games!

Yup its still pain me that last year in the Raptors section on ESPN, their were three pages of people posting and saying we should draft Marquis Daniels, but we got Remon Van De Hare, who I think we traded his rights when we got Archibald???

The guys on NBADraft.net are better scouters than the Raptors organization, the Raptors fans are better scouters than the Raptors organization.

I like that idea. (Y) Henceforth, that trade shall be known as the Bob Sura Deal.

Hopefully all this Sura talk hasn't jinxed him. Let's hope for a third straight triple double in the next game.

The Hawks are winning because they're putting points on the board...
and that's my highly philosophical analysis of them :D And yeah Bob Sura is doing a bit of everything (y)

I even started a franchise with the Hawks (because I was sick of the Bulls and wanted to play a franchise with another sucky team). Well I'm not winning but I'm scoring more than I did with the Bulls

lmao, he did pull a Ricky Davis but it wasn't as noteable.
Sura intentionally missed a layup and grabbed his 10th rebound just before the buzzer in the Atlanta Hawks' 129-107 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Monday Night.

At least Sura's bit of personal self-gratification came at his own end of the court. Ricky Davis, then of Cleveland, was roundly condemned last season when he tried to finish off his first career triple-double by shooting at the wrong basket, missing and getting the rebound.

Before it could happen, a Utah player wrapped his arms around Davis and was called for a foul. Davis was fined by the Cavaliers, and the league pointed out a rule barring players from trying to score for the other team.

The Nets didn't seem especially upset by the way Sura got his triple-double. After all, New Jersey is heading on to the playoffs, the Hawks' season is just about over.

"They've struggled this season," Richard Jefferson said. "If they can find a high point, go for it."

Nets didn't care about him, after all, they are the Hawks, last couple games of thier season.

The Hawks as a team were also trying to get him the triple double so it isn't that bad.

Three in a row! Three in a row!

He may not have been a candidate for MIP, but surely he's earned himself a chance at consistent minutes next year.

Just to mention that :

Sura could've reached the triple triple-double earlier. With about 11 minutes left in the fourth, Hawks reserve center Mamadou N'diaye fought Sura for a rebound. Stotts called a timeout to remind N'diaye of what Sura was trying to accomplish.

so Sura's triple double was well deserved, and his last action had nothing to see with Ricky Davis' one :)

The National Basketball Association today disallowed a missed field goal attempt and ensuing rebound which gave Atlanta Hawk guard Bob Sura a statistical "triple-double" in the Hawks' 129-107 victory over the New Jersey Nets on April 12.

In the closing seconds of that game, Sura intentionally missed a layup and grabbed the rebound.

The NBA rule book states that "A field goal attempt is a player's attempt to shoot the ball into the basket for a field goal."

The league ruled that Sura did not attempt a field goal, and therefore there was no rebound.
http://www.nba.com/news/sura_040413.html

I think Sura's emergence started against the Wizards when he got 28 with 9 boards and 10 dimes. How characteristic of the Wizards to give up another exceptional performance. Last year, Kobe had 55 with 9-13 3pt shooting. T-mac had 62 with 10 rebounds against them last month in a game in which T-mac's stats were actually not as good as his performance somehow (I was able to watch the game, which was a spectacular display even for a fan of the other team like me, because I live in the Washington, DC area.) Last night the Wizards only game up a few season- or career-highs to Pistons players....
