The Deal Isiah Missed

ONE DYNAMIC DEAL ISIAH DIDN'T MAKE

WHILE the shortsighted insist on sermonizing about Isiah Thomas allegedly making one too many trades, fact is, he made one too few. Think he's sorry for not dealing Frank Williams for Darius Miles when the Cavaliers were doing the offering, repeatedly?

hmm I think they was pretty bad for the Knicks. It all depended on if Miles was going to play with the same effort as he is now in Portland. The Knicks already have Houston, Thomas, Johnson, Anderson anyway. The thing is, Frank isnt worth Miles so it was messed up for Isaiah not to make the deal.

He would've been a better fit then Tim Thomas. Miles doesn't demand the ball as much and runs the floor much better than Timmy T.

picking up miles at the time would have been risky. he was having a hard time meshing with his teammates and was not getting along with the player friendly coach silas. and with houston and thomas missing games, he wouldn't be out on the floor since he can't hit an outside shot, making it easier to defend marbury

miles playing like how he is now in portland was very unlikely and playing ahead of abdur rahim was more unlikely. i'm happy for the guy

If the Cavaliers were making that offer...I'd be shocked to find out Isiah didn't go for it.

The Knicks already have 2 quality point guards (Marbury/Moochie) and Frank is just extra. Darius Miles is still 6'9" with a handle and a near 40" vertical leap.

OH!

Man, Frank Williams was nothing too! The Knicks would have got the better of the deal. Now look what Darius is doing in Portland.

what sucks is I think Frank Williams value is going down with the limited minutes and injuries he has had since Marbury came here. Not sure what Isiah was thinking by having 2 good backup point guards, 1 is enough when you got a star like Marbury.

I think part of the reason why Darius is doing so well in Portland is because he gets along really well with his teammates. They're all like super-dooper bum chums from what i've read.

i think Isaiah is a bad GM. He makes all these deals which haven't helped the Knicks. Sure they'll make the playoffs but it's the East??? there's only 3 competitive teams here. The Knicks have no future, they have a huge payroll which he should deal with first. Start from scratch.....take up Joe D's philosophy. JD got in a bunch of guys that play hard, hustle and work like a team. Thomas got Stephon Marbury, great 1-0n-1 player but not good for the team. When was the last time a team achieved something with their PG as the main option? Houston with Francis? nope. NOH with B Davis? nope. He traded away Lampe w/o giving him 1 minute of play, the guy turns out pretty good so far in PHX. Terrible trade, Penny is pretty much washed up, on occasion he does well. Thomas needs to start from scratch. Get rid of all his big contracts if possible, trade for draft picks and expiring contracts......rebuilding doesn't have to take long. Memphis did it in 3 yrs, Denver too turned around quickly and Detroit rebuilded in just one season after G Hill

give isiah time dude. Layden was a worst GM than Isiah wasn't he? Isiah had a terrible situation. He did get rid of a few bad contracts like Eisley and Weatherspoon. This summer I think he will make a blockbuster deal that may ship Allan Houston away. It wasn't his fault the Knicks signed him to a $100million contract was it?
Besides, its great to see the Knicks in the playoffs again..to make it even better, it looks like they going to face the Nets..Knicks vs Nets series should be good I hope.
