JT and Cousins dominating the boards, good to see as they will most likely be my starting frontcourt next season :) Still good win, Timmy all over the place.

Yep, he's on fire. Let's hope he can play like that against the Heat and Mavs.

Yeah both Jason and DeMarcus were a surprise too me, especially DMC. :shock:

They even led at one point. Maggette is struggling lately, but Parker finally appeared.

As you may have noticed (or maybe it's happening to me only?) ImageShack is killing almost all my image links... if tomorrow this still happens, I'm gonna edit all the pages with new links. :evil:

Duncan, Manu, Spurs hand Martin, Rockets third straight home loss with fourth-quarter run
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (SAS :: HOU)

HOUSTON, March 12 -- Kevin Martin made an alley-oop layup, then scored an acrobatic And-1, then made a 3-pointer. He scored and scored, and the Rockets crowd roared as a big 11-2 run in the third quarter left Houston on the verge of a huge victory over the West-leading Spurs... then came another collapse. Tim Duncan led a fourth-quarter surge by the San Antonio Spurs, who won 102-96. Martin finished the contest with 29 points and helped Houston turn a 6-point deficit into a 4-point lead in the third period, but it wasn't enough. “That was one of the best third quarters we've played this season,” said Martin. Martin went 2-of-9 in the last quarter for only five points, including a miss that would have tied the game at 99. Martin scored 17 points in the first half, and scored seven points in that 11-2 run to help Houston take tie the game at 75 to start the fourth quarter; the Rockets were behind 73-64 with 3:37 left in the third. “We just couldn't keep up with what we did in the third,” said Aaron Brooks, who added 19 points and six assists. “From a defensive standpoint, it was a great quarter for us. Then in the fourth we began to miss shots and there you have the result.”

Duncan scored a team-high 19 points to help San Antonio win for the 6th game in a row and 8th of their last nine, and also added 10 rebounds and 5 assists to his statline. “They really brought it to us in the third quarter, especially Kevin,” said Duncan, “But we took it as a challenge to come out in the fourth and show them we get tough when things are against us.” Manu Ginobili added 16 points, 11 in the second half, including seven during a 14-2 run that put San Antonio ahead 92-80. With this victory, the Spurs regained sole possession of first place in the West, only a half-game ahead of the LA Lakers and also improved to 22-10 on the road. “We had control of the game, and then we took a punch from them in the third,” said Tony Parker, who posted 15 points and 12 assists. “We were able to recover in the last quarter and win.” Corey Maggette finished with 12 points for San Antonio and rookies James Anderson and Tiago Splitter scored 10 each, making six Spurs in double figures.

The disappointed Toyota Center crowd included former Rockets like Cuttino Mobley, Steve Francis and Kelvin Cato. “Some friends of mine said this Spurs team would steamroll us, but I don't think so. We gave them a good fight,” Mobley said. The Rockets are on pace for 44 wins. “Everybody is embarrassed,” said Luis Scola, had 10 points and 12 rebounds. “We've got to keep fighting, and hopefully this will turn around and we can get a better seed.” The Rockets didn't make the playoffs last season, the first time since 2005-06. Scola compared the Spurs to the Lakers, another team that has given the Rockets fits the last couple of years. “If you don't beat San Antonio on the Lakers in the hustle game, you probably aren't going to beat them at all. That's where they won the game tonight.” The Spurs also made 14-of-17 free throws and had 16 more points the paint than the Rockets, despite a strong effort by Yao Ming, who scored 17 points and ten rebounds for Houston. San Antonio had 25 assists on 40 field goals, and their reserves won 31-14.

River Walk Chronicles ♦ Thierry's Morning Coffee

    Weekly Rewind N° 20 • Oden, Powe seek renewals, a new opportunity for Sean and more...
    nba.com/spurs/morningcoffee | March 13th, 2011

    Image
    SAN ANTONIO -- Welcome to the latest installment of my “Morning Coffee” blog, Spurs fanatics. I have some more tidbits here in the table for us to discuss. I'm doing a weekly report with things that happened around the league, including: signings & waivings; POTW honors; Power Rankings; injury report; All-Star voting and trading rumors. Hope you join the discussion!

    Greg Oden hopeful of new contract in Portland • After Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan decided to give the starting center nod to Marcus Camby all the way back to training camp, it became more and more likely that the Blazers were thinking in parting ways with former No. 1 pick Greg Oden. Oden has said he “would like to sit down and work in a new contract”, but that seems increasingly unlikely for Portland. With Oden playing every single game of Portland's 66 contests, but posting career-lows of 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds, Blazers general manager Rich Cho said today that the team would like to keep Oden, but it's a very risky decision.

    Powe wants to stay in New OrleansLeon Powe just comes to work. In a win over Dallas last week, that meant season-highs of 12 points and 10 rebounds for New Orleans. Maybe it’s maturity, maybe it’s people offering to help him improve; whatever it is, it’s allowed the former Celtic to reinvent his game since he was acquired by the Hornets from the Cleveland Cavaliers in a trade deadline deal. “It’s easier to play the same way the more and more games you win and the more competitive you play,” said Powe, who, rising from the ashes like a phoenix, has earned the approval of Hornets coach Monty Williams. Williams told Powe the organization would like to re-sign him this summer and both were shaking hands. “We want him back,” Williams said. “I’d love to have him be a part of our program as we move forward.” With a huge smile, the bigman couldn't disagree. “I'd love to stay. I love this place and hopefully we can be more competitive next year.”

    Players of the Week • The Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant and the Miami Heat's LeBron James today were named the Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played March 6 - 12. Durant and the Thunder had a 3-1 week -- with wins over Phoenix, Memphis and Philadelphia and a loss against Detroit. In the victory over the Suns, Durant posted 30 points along with 11 rebounds and five assists. He then scored 40 points and 14 rebounds in a victory over the 76ers. He finished the week with averages of 31.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists. Miami's James averaged 24.2 points along with 10.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists, as the Heat also posted a 3-1 week -- with wins over the LA Lakers (their second in two weeks), Chicago and Portland, and a loss against Memphis. LeBron scored 40 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 6 blocks in the win over the Bulls; then 29 points, six boards and six assists against Portland and a triple-double over the Lakers, when it mattered the most: 19 points, 11 boards and 11 assists.

    Power RankingsBest teams of the week? San Antonio (4-0), Orlando (3-0), Washington (3-0), New Jersey (2-0), Miami (3-1), Oklahoma City (3-1), Atlanta (3-1). The worst? LA Clippers (0-4), New York (0-4), Phoenix (0-3), Golden State (1-3), Milwaukee (1-3), Portland (1-3), Minnesota (1-2), Charlotte (1-2). High jumps -- Washington (+6), New Jersey (+4), Washington (+3), Toronto (+2), San Antonio (+1), Philadelphia (+1). Free falls -- New York (-6), Houston (-3), LA Clippers (-2), Phoenix (-2), Memphis (-2), Utah (-2), LA Lakers (-1). Check the power rankings (Top 7) here -- the Heat stay in the 1st spot, while the Spurs took the 2nd and the Lakers fell to the 3rd.

    Injury report • Sorted by injuries with most duration, here you can check the full injury report. The Atlanta Hawks couldn't believe when recent signing Sundiata Gaines fell awkwardly to the floor -- he suffered a torn MCL that will keep him off the court for the rest of the season and could be just in time to recover for the start of the 2011-12 season. “It's disappointing to him because he was having some really nice efforts for the team,” Hawks coach Larry Drew said. “That bothers him and and bothers us, of course. Personally I'd like to see him in a Hawks uniform next year.” Milwaukee center Andrew Bogut and Sacramento guard Rodney Stuckey also suffered injuries that will keep them out, for at least two weeks.

    Grizzlies sign Sean Williams • Memphis Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace announced today that free agent Sean Williams has been signed to a contract. He is expected to join the team for Memphis' game against the Los Angeles Clippers tomorrow. Williams spent November and December of 2010 with Fujian SBS XunXin of China, and then in New Year signed for Puerto Rico's Mets de Guaynabo. He was originally selected by the New Jersey Nets in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft (17th pick overall). “We are excited to welcome Sean to Memphis,” Wallace said. “He brings youth professionalism to our roster as we continue to develop our roster for the future.”

Parker, Splitter, Maggette contributions clinch Spurs playoff seed with new win over Heat
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (SAS :: MIA)

MIAMI, March 14 -- And there's the fourteenth. Tony Parker scored 17 points and seven assists and Tiago Splitter came off the bench to add 16 points as the Spurs clinched their 14th consecutive playoff berth by holding on for a thrilling 100-94 triumph over the league-best Miami Heat. The Spurs, who have won their seventh straight game and 11 of their last 13, not only have clinched a playoff berth but also have a 0.5-game lead over the Los Angeles Lakers for the top seed in the West, with a last clash between the teams on April 12. “We still got a lot to play for,” Parker said. “There's still a team that is making ground on us, less than a game behind us. We must secure the top seed and hopefully, if the Heat lose a couple of games down the stretch, also home-court advantage.” San Antonio had a 15-point advantage in the second quarter, but was almost wasted as the Heat posted a 14-2 run to cut the deficit to three points. Parker made two consecutive layups to give the Spurs a 46-37 edge at halftime, and then Splitter scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half to help secure a sweep of their season series with the Heat. “It feels really good,” Splitter said. “This makes a lot of sacrifices worthwhile.”

Corey Maggette also registered 16 points for the Spurs, rebounding from a 4-point, 2-rebound game back on March 4, the first encounter between the teams. “We are not usually that successful on road games this season. But tonight we really came out and gave a great effort,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. Manu Ginobili made a shot over Dwyane Wade with 1:54 left in the game, as the Spurs opened a 96-88 lead, but Wade made a pair of jumpers to cut the lead to only 4 points. After Parker and LeBron James each hit a jumper, Maggette made a basket with only 6 seconds left to give the Spurs the decisive score. “We are a much better team right now,” said Tim Duncan, who added 14 points, eight boards and four rejections. “We are playing and executing very well. We are moving the ball and defensively we are working hard, hustling and making them take the shots they don't want to take.” Ginobili added 14 points and six rebounds for San Antonio, but shooting 6-of-17, 2-of-10 in the first half. “Like Iverson would say... practice, practice, practice,” Ginobili joked, but with a fake smile.

“Down the stretch, they have at least two or three guys who can put the ball in the hole with ease,” said Chris Bosh, who was scoreless in the first half, finishing with 11 points. James and Wade led the Heat with 21 points apiece, as Joel Anthony was not with the team due to a family matter. “We're used to running to Joel to provide us with a defensive threat and knowing that he wasn't there, we had to have someone step up in D,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. Mario Chalmers scored 10 points, seven assists and a season-high six rebounds for the Heat, who enjoyed 16 points by reserve Mike Miller. “It's a great feeling,” an ecstatic DeJuan Blair said of clinching a spot in the postseason. “At the beginning of the year, in my position, I would have been positive and said that we could certainly do this. But I'm not sure I would have really believed it -- to clinch a Top 3 seed.” With only 14 games left to play, the Spurs also look on poise to clinch the Southwest Division, with a 9.5-game lead over the Dallas Mavericks and the teams colliding on Friday at Dallas.
