This game is broken post-patch. I can't hit a jump-shot to save my life, 3 pointers neither. I've played games where I've shot 2 for 17 on 3's with good or great 3pt shooters. It's beyond me how the patch has destroyed this once great game. Is there a way to un-install the patch? I mean after constant slider changes after the patch, I'm unable to find a decent set that plays the game like it should, any suggestions?

Did anyone notice strange gameplay after the patch? It got slower, I dont really mind that as I think it's more realistic when players are not running like cheetahs no more, and you can change the game speed anyway, but the thing that really bugs me is the response speed is really fucked up... That half of second delay is really hurtful, I was playing NBA Today with the Heat in Chicago, and Derrick Rose was just killing me with his crossovers even if guarded by D Wade, because by the time my controlled player reacted to the push of the direction button, Rose already went the other way, and it's not like I was an inch distance to him, it was more like 3 or 4 feet. Then later when I was playing with the Suns against the Pistons, even player switching had a delay of a second one time, imagine how difficult it was to defend on the fast break...

And, like someone said before, I too experience lag at some parts of the game.

Been there done that. I tried everything. From simple reinstalling to tweaking of virtual memory to reformatting even to praying ( seriously ) . Nothing works. I've also tried using the DVD to run the game instead of running it through cracked .exe or mounting it's images. Still nada. And for the record, I do have the original game disk. It's just that I don't like the hassle of changing disk every time I wanna play a game hence the cracks.

I thank for the help up till this point though. But more ideas would definitely be appreciated. Thanks once again. And please help me more...

Try this in compatibility:

You're XP right? So it's okay
Check:
run as admin
run in 640x480 resolution
disable desktop something(not sure if there's such option on XP.)

Sorry banned for a week because of my post. Anyways, to refresh my problem, a lot of you I see are just having crashes in my player mode. Well, unfortunately, my problem is everywhere. Main menu, my player, association, quick game etc. Everywhere I am in the game there's a probability in crashing. Anyways, if you refer to my previous post, you will see I have tried all of the help. Thing is, they still don't work. I am really praying that someone in here will have the answer now. Thanks for any help in advance.

Realistic has a line. I find not having proper control of my player not being realistic. Rose would beat most of the heat players every time, yes, but not like this, it's unfair.

Skyline has a point with the control. In my experience, backing off a defender so you can guard their drive better is more realistic and something you would do in real life against a ballhandler skilled at getting to the basket, right? I find it to be the exact opposite in 2K11. The closer you are up on the ballhandler, the easier it is to stop their drive, since you can just bump them. There are some players who just get to the rim with no problem.

I leave the Playcall on Auto so the CPU calls plays for me. Ever since the patch, point guards never get plays called for them. The same goes for the AI CPU. They don't run plays for the point guard either. Pre-patch this was not the case.

I've tested many teams. Derrick Rose and the Bulls- they only call plays for the small forward (Deng) or power forward (Boozer). Or when I played as the Jazz no plays called for Deron Williams at all (same thing probably for Devin Harris). Or the Spurs nothing for Tony Parker.

I get the feeling this part of the patch may have screwed up what I'm talking about:

- Addressed a playcalling issue where non-stars are getting a bulk of the plays run for them during specific situations.

Now I did find an exception to this. Playing as the Suns, plays were run for Steve Nash at a realistic amount.

I realize the 'Touches' tendencies is the main factor in determining who get's the most plays called for them. But Rose/Williams/Parker/etc. already have a very high Touches rating.

So I did two experiments. First, I left Rose's touches as is and dropped every other Bulls starters 'touches' below 30. Rose then got the majority of the plays run for him.

Then I played as the Suns but inserted newly acquired Aaron Brooks as the starting point guard. I made Brooks' touches rating the same as Steve Nash. When I did this, no plays were run at all for Brooks. So it's something else besides touch rating.

Anyone have this problem and know a solution?

On a side note, how do I prevent the AI CPU from jacking up stupid shot's constantly? 2K10 shot selection was not a problem but in 2K11 the CPU constantly shoot's right after coming off a screen or after a catch. I believe it may have to do with the 'Pull Up' tendency being too high. I also change teams playbook if it's too similar- like Luol Deng of the Bulls.

For the cpu jacking up quick shots, check out the cpu tendency sliders. Anything unbalanced or too high will cause that. For instance, if short range or medium range is higher than the post up and attack the basket tendencies, than you will see post players out up a shot quickly without backing their defender down. Those sliders directly affect the players tendencies and can cause problems when they are changed too much. Also check the coachimg profiles as they really determine how teams play differently from each other.

In a past 2K game, the run plays tendency directly affected how many lays were actually called when playcalling was set to auto. The past couple games had plays called every obsession when playcalling is set to auto. I have seen the play "freelance" called once in 2K11. Freelance is basically no play being called, of course.

Yeah I think the reason the cpu jacks up stupid shot's constantly is the 'Pull Up' tendency being too high. For example D Rose has a 98 pull up rating when in 2K10 it was in the 20's I believe. Others are incredibly high. Off the top of my head VC, Melo, John Salmons.

Regarding the touches issue, you misunderstood me. What I'm talking about is the PG playbook plays are not used/called post-patch. So whatever D Rose or D-Will or Tony Parker point guard playbook may be, CPU will not call them. Instead they call plays for the other positions. The exception is Steve Nash. I've looked at his ratings/tendencies and nothing jumps out at me compared to the other PG's.

Just try this. Using the Living Rosters, play as the Bulls and set the playcall to Auto. When you play all the plays will be primarily for Deng or Boozer (never for Rose). Now play as the Suns and Steve Nash will get his plays called.

Do you remember what rating/tendency in 2K10 that will increase plays being called for certain players? So for example I remember playing as the Jazz, no plays were run for Kirilenko. Or was it already hard-coded into the game who get's the majority of the plays and thus you couldn't change? I don't believe this was the case because I remember community projects such as making the 90's teams. The reason I ask this is it may help me out in 2K11 and 2K10 did not have a 'Touch' tendency so I forgot how that game determined who get's the majority of plays.

I understood you. I was trying to offer suggestions to try by looking at the cpu tendency sliders and coaching profiles. I think its a combination of player tendencies and coaching profiles that decide what plays get ran, along with the player tendencies.

I've also noticed the Derrick Rose issue, but it was before the patch. The Bulls were too easy because of it, so I increased the attack the basket tendency slider for the cpu to be higher than any other shooting tendency, and he drove to the basket pretty often, but there weren't a lot of plays called for him that I can remember.

Oh I see. My bad.

So what you are saying is if I put run plays in the coaching sliders to 90 it will run plays for more players as opposed to say 30? I always thought that slider was how likely they are to complete a play or how often teams run plays period (as opposed to freelance). I swear when I put offense playcalling to Auto pre-patch, they called plays for D Rose or even D Will. I started to notice this issued after the patch.

The thing is Phoenix has run plays quite low and Nash still get's plays called for him.

This is a major problem for me because AI CPU does nont run PG plays either and thus they don't involve the PG much nor run many PnR. I would say 3/4 of NBA halfcourt offense includes a PnR. Probably more. When I play against D Rose or D Will or Parker, they don't play like themselves. 2K10 they played more like themselves. Do you remember what it was in 2K10 that called plays to more players? The Kirilenko example I said before. This could help solve this issue in 2K11.

You are right about the run plays slider. Its the frequency of how often plays are called as opposed to freelance. Like I noticed before, when playcalling is set to auto, it doesn't seemed to matter if the slider is low or not, a play is always called, but it didn't used to be like that. That is only my experience from the team I am controlling, I can't speak for the cpu teams.

I think plays are called for perimeter shooters more often than pick and rolls and post plays, but I do see a lot of pick and rolls when I am playing. So maybe Nash is getting plays ran for him because he has a good jumpshot.

Well i put run plays to 90 but that didn't make a difference. Then I put all the shot tendencies very low for the Bulls starters except Rose. Rose was left as is and still no plays ran for him. :(

I think this is a bug in this game. One that popped up post-patch as I didn't have this problem pre-patch. I guess the only thing I can do now is change all the PF's playbooks to make sure a PnR is included.

Curious, what rosters do you use? Also what tendencies specifically should I lower to make sure the CPU doesn't jack up shot after shot after coming off a screen or from a pass? Do you have a scale for what each should be depending on the position?

Well, since the cpu tendency sliders affect every player, I try to keep them as even as possible. Anything above 55 is overkill for me. I raised it to make the cpu take shots quicker since I only play 9 minute quarters. I think I have all of them at 53, with attack the basket and look for post players at 54 so they backdown and drive when there is an opening instead of just shooting. I have no scale other than keeping it balanced. I look at it like this: if a player had a choice between driving, shooting a short range, mid range or long range jumper, which would they choose first? So I put drive and short range as the highest priority, then post players, then medium and long range. It creates some nice drive and dish action without players forcing shots or passing on open looks.

I actually play with one of the first living rosters since I stated my association shortly after the game was released. I rarely play a quick game.

I agree that the pg issue needs to be addressed.

Does anyone know if it's still possible to pass out of a lay-up or a dunk postžpatch? Because I don't seem to be able to do it... If they removed it, it's funny, because that was one of the new features they said they put much work in it...

Yes it will hang for around 5 minutes. Once it is done you should be able to press the patch button. I bet its reading the game files or something.
