Thanks man. I think Gooden can have a nice impact in the team. He's posting his best numbers since 2007-08. And from the two games I played against the Bucks, he made some jumpers I never thought he could make. :cheeky:

Valdis wrote:Jefferson looks good in Bulls jersey ;)
As I understand you use mp3 sliders. How you get a realistic scores?

Yeah, RJ found a new home. I use mp3 sliders but made some changes, considering my style of play (a little less in field goal percentage and more in foul calls, to get more free throws.)

Valor wrote:Boo at the loss and especially at the title...JEFFERSON IS NOT THE MAIN GUY FOR CHICAGO!!

and I say this again...don't trade McDyess

Lol no, Jefferson ain't the main guy, but was the most consistent Bull in the game. I was able to defend well both Boozer and Rose.

I actually like the pick up of drew. Dice was completely on his way out either way... Not just out of the spurs but out of the league

drew was solid in RL with the clips last season.. Which is y he got that big contract...which is the only thong I don't like about the trade for u

I'm actually a bit more excites about the draft pick. Hope u can make ur spurs like the RL spurs and find star talent deep deep deep in the draft

Honestly, IRL McDyess is the better defender and fits better with the Spurs. But this is your story, so you'll have your reasons. One thing you don't get is financial flexibility. IIRC Gooden has an horrid contract. Let's just hope he contributes well, especially on offense.

Gooden is okay, and he's a bit younger then McDyess (who usually retires 1-2 seasons after I start my association). You got the 2nd rounder, which could be a possible steal. You never know.

RWC ♦ Thierry's Morning Coffee (Special Edition)

Morning Coffee: Extra • Trade Deadline Recap - instant analysis
    nba.com/spurs/morningcoffee | February 17th, 2011

    Image
SAN ANTONIO -- No trade deadline day in the NBA is ever the same. Sure, you may have the same totals, one trade, two players, but each season, the impetus behind each deal changes. With that, the mystery and intrigue remains every year. The guessing games, the rumors and the hype seem to snowball until well, some years it melts away, other years it comes crashing through with enough force to change the course of a season. In 2011, the trade deadline came and went with a couple of major names changing addresses. Carmelo Anthony, Devin Harris, Jamal Crawford, Antawn Jamison and number of other players had been mentioned for weeks as players that may be on the move -- and the rumors proved true. NBA teams got down to business in the final 24 hours and once they got to work, the deals started flying.

      Image
      Image
Jonas Jerebko out of Pistons • The Detroit Pistons announced that they have traded forward Jonas Jerebko to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for guard José Juan Barea and a 2012 second round pick. Barea evolved into a dependable offensive player for the Mavericks; his size and recklessness painted him as a man doomed to fail, but he reined in his game and transformed from wild card to a solid backup. But the emergence of sophomore point guard Rodrigue Beaubois as Jason Kidd's main backup killed his minutes (the Mavs also used Jason Terry as point guard from time to time.) With Tyson Chandler out for the season, Jerebko will surely post more solid stats as Dirk Nowitzki's main replacement. In counterpart, Will Bynum posted impressive stats as a backup for the Pistons, and GM Joe Dumars proved his faith on him by trading Rodney Stuckey to Sacramento a couple of months ago. But Bynum's backup, Luther Head, has been struggling badly and Bynum needed a new one -- Barea's decision-making has improved by leaps and bounds, and no attribute is of more import for a backup point guard. The B&B backup in Detroit will surely be interesting. •

      Image
      Image
The demolition of the Cavaliers is complete • The Cleveland Cavaliers announced that they have traded forwards Antawn Jamison and Leon Powe to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for forwards Peja Stojakovic and Pops Mensah-Bonsu. Remember in April 2003, when the Cavaliers posted a 17-65 record, worst in the East, and all the hopes of a whole city were posted in a certain guy named LeBron James? After James was drafted by the Cavs, that team that started to appear in 2008 captured my imagination. They were a fun, interesting team and were on their way to the Eastern Conference's best record. James went to Miami this past June and every citizen in Cleveland was devastated. t triggered the time of "rebuilding", a long and slow process but that could pay huge dividends -- that team no longer exists and the team has been completely disemboweled with this transaction. Jamison, who was acquired by the Cavs from Washington last season in hopes of keeping James, was traded to the Hornets in exchange for Stojakovic's huge $15m expiring deal. With the Cavs' season completely tanked (worst record in the league at 16-40), they are hoping to land a high pick in the lottery. The Hornets, who are 9th in the West, obtain a great addition in Jamison for a player who was averaging a career-low 6 minutes per game, and could make a push for the 8th seed very soon. Jamison will be one of the best sixth man of the league, backing up Trevor Ariza and David West. •

      Image
      Image
After weeks of negotations, Gooden finally arrives in San Antonio • The San Antonio Spurs announced that they have traded forward/center Antonio McDyess and guard Garrett Temple to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for bigman Drew Gooden and a 2011 second round pick. Some people criticized this move by the Spurs because of Gooden's huge contract, but the former Buck is flexible, serviceable bigman with a big arsenal of moves; he already played for the Spurs a couple of seasons ago, knows the team's plan and has considerable postseason experience, and has averaged double-digits in scoring in every season of his career. The Spurs also add a second round pick for this June, which, considering San Antonio's second-round history in drafts, could be a huge steal (Manu Ginobili, anyone?) Despite McDyess' acceptable stats this season with San Antonio, it is always a huge gamble to try and add someone who’s on the wrong side of 30 and has had a history of scary knee injuries to your rotation. Dice had an injury this year that kept him out for a week, but it's a gamble for the Bucks that could pay very well; to be honest, he's a great fit in Milwaukee's system, as the only true backup for Andrew Bogut was Brian Skinner. Bogut himself missed 10 games injured, while Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Ersan Ilyasova (the other power forwards in the team) are posting career-lows in points. Temple will add a quality player for garbage minutes, as Brandon Jennings missed 20 games because of a torn hamstring. Great deal for both teams. •

      Image
      Image
Duhon, Sessions try to forget a terrible season start • The Cleveland Cavaliers announced that they have traded guard Ramon Sessions to the Orlando Magic in exchange for guard Chris Duhon and bigman Malik Allen, therefore completing their second deal in a day. I remember the Magic recruited Duhon heavily in 2008, but Duhon signed with New York instead, for more money and the chance to start. Last July, when Duhon's agent told him that the Magic called for his services one more time, Duhon asked him to make the deal work “as soon as possible”. The move proved to be a huge mistake as Duhon, Jameer Nelson's main backup, averaged career-lows in points, rebounds, assists, field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, free throw percentage and minutes. Magic general manager Otis Smith admitted his error and didn't hesitate to trade him away. Enter Ramon Sessions, who also had a terrible time in Cleveland. Acquired after LBJ left the squad, Sessions never melted with his new teammates, and also posted career-low averages in points, rebounds and assists. Sessions is much more of a pass first point guard than Duhon, and will allow Nelson to keep going in his form of a shooter; a true drive-and-kick guard who loves to get into the paint, and good at drawing fouls. Allen is Ryan Hollins' backup, that says it all -- salary purposes. Hopefully both Duhon and Sessions can wake up from this awful dream and recover from terrible seasons so far. •

      Image
      Image
Biggest trade of 2011 finally goes through • The New Jersey Nets announced that they have traded guard Devin Harris, forward Travis Outlaw and rookie bigman Derrick Favors to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for swingman Carmelo Anthony, guard Chauncey Billups and bigman Shelden Williams. Back in the middle of January, the Nets were on the verge of completing the trade with a third team, but fell down a couple of days later. This time, with only them and Denver involved, it made more sense for both parties. New Jersey takes on a ton of salary while upgrading its starting lineup, providing tax relief for Denver, which also acquires a younger, cheaper contingent of players highlighted by Favors, Harris and Outlaw. The inclusion of Billups -- a Denver native -- was painful for the Nuggets, but Billups admitted “that I fulfilled the dream of playing a major role for the team of the city I grew up.” The Nuggets are trading him for immediate savings and making room for Harris to assume a playing role in George Karl’s squad. While the prospect of losing Billups to save money rubs many fans the wrong way, it seems clear that Denver’s front office is intent on cutting big costs. Maintaining a team that is $13 million over the luxury tax it's, simple and plain, bad business. Nice deals for both organizations -- Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov is clearly happy. •

      Image
      Image
Crawford doesn't get extension from Hawks; gets traded • The Atlanta Hawks announced that they have traded guard Jamal Crawford to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for forward Michael Beasley and guard Luke Ridnour. Looks like Beasley and Ridnour didn't get closer to GM David Kahn's expectations -- they both leave Minnesota after only seven months. Beasley is magnificently talented; on age and ability alone, I would say that the Hawks add a major coup, finally a small forward who can put points on the board easily, and Marvin Williams will be able to flourish from the bench. On the other hand, there's nothing new in saying he's a weird man, who has already been to rehab and couldn’t manage to get through the NBA’s rookie transition program without getting fined. Veteran leadership was something sorely lacking from the Wolves’ lineup in past years, and Ridnour certainly provided that to the locker room, but he didn't carried over great numbers from the Bucks. He's a awfully good guy, and he doesn’t deserve what he got in Minneapolis. Jamal Crawford, who blackmailed the Hawks office by publicly asking for a contract extension, or else he would request a trade, was posting 20 points per game now in a starting role, but was having a terrible conduct in the team, and was suspended by the league, thrice. A solid deal for both teams -- an opportunity for all three players involved to start again. •

Despite having a lot of games where I had a double-digit lead and lost it, I think I needed some more firepower. It's not like Gooden will be the team's star, he was starting for the Bucks with nice averages, hopefully he can put similar stats here as a role player.

Thanks man. They have different styles, I think he can have a better impact in the team. His contract is just awful, but let's be honest, I won't play five seasons here  Hopefully we can get a good steal in the draft.

Thanks Hov, yeah I trade Dice because I was thinking of a more offense-like team... The Truth has more offense power than Dice. Also traded Temple, I was using him in garbage minutes and if Parker or Hill were having foul trouble.

Whew, that was a long write but I'm very happy with how it played out. Playing Rookies - Sophs. Recap tomorrow!

Rookies overcome 16-point deficit in third quarter, Turner's buzzer-beater gives them the victory
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (Rookies :: Sophomores)
Played as the Rookies, as Splitter was there

LOS ANGELES, February 18 -- Philadelphia's Evan Turner scored 21 points, grabbed four rebounds and made the game-winning three-pointer as he upstaged Washington's John Wall and Los Angeles Clippers' Blake Griffin in leading the Rookies to an exciting 100-99 victory of the Rookies in the opening event of NBA All-Star Weekend 2011 in Los Angeles. All of the attention in the arena was around Wall and Griffin, who have a developing rivalry in the league but were teammates for this occasion. Both squads treated a Staples Center crowd to an array of high-flying dunks and moves. Turner looked like a man among boys. In a game with a superb display of defense (in the previous Rookie Challenges, the teams got to score at least 130 points multiple times), his shooting was too much to handle and earned him the Most Valuable Player trophy for the Rookies-Sophomores game. Turner, picked 2nd overall by Philadelphia last June, made 8-of-16 shots -- most of them bombs from 3-point territory, 5-of-8, and made the Rookies overcome a 16-point deficit in the third quarter. “We had a nice lead, but then we got out of energy. You knew they were going to come with it,” said Indiana's Darren Collison, who led the Sophs with 20 points. “You have to give credit to them, they played great in the second half.”

“We just kept quiet when they had a big advantage. I wanted to beat those guys so bad. Make it two in a row for the Rooks,” said Wall, who had 17 points and 10 assists. “Evan's a great guy. He's one of the most athletic guys I've seen this year.” In total, eleven players scored in double figures, with rookies Tiago Splitter, from the San Antonio Spurs, and Xavier Henry, from the Memphis Grizzlies, adding 14 and 13 points, respectively. Oklahoma City's James Harden and Minnesota's Jonny Flynn posted 14 points each for the Sophomores. The Rookies have won two in a row, as the Sophomores won from 2003-2009. Wall and Turner were sensational early, when the game was still a game, and late, when they recovered from the big deficit. The rookie duo collaborated on several jaw-dropping plays, assisting each other in consecutive fastbreaks. “It's like a dream come true,” Turner said. “All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, MVP trophy... it's fantastic. What more can you ask?” Wall and Turner also had plenty of help from Sacramento's center DeMarcus Cousins, who scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half to keep the Rookies close, and Griffin's teammate in the Clippers, Al-Farouq Aminu, who added 12 points, 8 in a 14-2 run by the Rookies in the fourth period.

“I know his game, he knows my game,” Turner said of Wall. “We felt comfortable playing together.” With some help from Houston Rockets swingman Terrence Williams, who scored 9 of his 15 points in the first half, the Sophomores raced to a 56-47 advantage at the half. Three treys in a row (two by Turner) and a three-point play by Wall pulled the Rookies within 85-83. The defense in the inside of Cousins and Splitter, superb penetrations to the hoop by Wall and Turner's shooting were too much to handle for the Sophs in the fourth. “We tried to play defense, but they were so hot on the offense, that we ain't had any luck,” Williams said. The second half looked like a dunk contest -- Turner, Aminu and Griffin combined for ten dunks in the second half. Cousins' teammate in Sacramento, Omri Casspi, added 10 points for the Sophomores. “This games are about entertaining the fans, and I think a lot of people got a good idea that these young guys can play at a very high level,” said Mike Budenholzer, Spurs' assistant coach, who coached the Rookies.

Looks like both the Nuggets and Cavs are gonna rebuild... didn't trade draft picks, they are both in a similar position in the standings.

Yeah it sucks for them. I only made my deal with the Bucks, the Cavs-Hornets and Nuggets-Nets, the rest were made by the CPU. Timberwolves are 13th in the West I think, the Hawks now have a small forward who can start right away and Ridnour will back up Bibby. But it sucks for Minny

Well yeah, you got a point. But I wanted to get even bigger leads, so with this defense the CPU would get only small runs :P

Had Jennings played, the Sophs would have won.

Hawks are going to be better with Beasley I think. That's a very athletic team. Melo and Billups stay together and go to New Jersey! I have never been a fan of Gooden, but I'm sure you have your reasons for bringing him in. Looking forward to seeing how he contributes.

1000 replies. Taking a look back...

    To all the followers:

Wow. It took 50 threads, but I can finally say that I picked the correct team. I was just reflecting on all the games, news, NCAA reports I made, and wanted to let you guys know how much it means to me. I've ended stories because I was bored, didn't like the team, I started losing 10 games in a row, or just because, I didn't get enough replies like I would have wanted. You guys had a knack for giving me a lot of helpful advice -- I was making graphics, pics, posting settings and schedules every two weeks back then. This story is going for three months already; I must admit I'm very lucky that some of you are still checking my stories. I only hope I can be as good as 10% of Sit or X's stories.

So, as a final thought, again I wanna thank to all the followers who keep reading this, even though it always takes a glacial period for me to get through a season. I also thought it would be nice to send some shoutouts out there; not only the followers of this story, but followers from my very beginnings back in 2004 as well, who commented, approved, or even criticized the threads. Also a shoutout for the guys who don't comment very often, but I know they read (at least a little part) of the recaps and updates. I don't want to forget some patchers who helped me when I asked some dumb questions, I even asked them to make special jerseys for me... for the people who always gave me a good laugh in the general forums, and last but not least, to guys who don't check the forums as often as before but have a dynasty on the HOF. You know I'm grateful with every advice or criticism, so a big THANK YOU to everyone.

Maybe the story gets kind of boring at certain updates, but you've always been there. The only update left: a new ring for the San Antonio Spurs.

Sit wrote:This is quite funny... Yesterday: I'm going to play all 82 games! ... Today: FUCK YOU WINDOWS 7
Clutch wrote:man, it aint about the team choice be it spurs, pacers sonics etc; i would welcome it since more spurs coverage just gives my dynasty more looks by association ;) what it's really about the switching constantly to teh flavor-o-the-week; seriously, it's just disappointing
Mark. wrote:I dont think you should stop something just because you aren't getting replies, they longer you keep this alive the more replies you will get. You have to remember that some people don't always have time to post, they just check in quickly for a quick read when they can. In terms of Dynasties longevity creates legends.
hova- wrote:You're doing this for the wrong reasons. I'm a supporter of you and yours, but I really gonna criticize you now because it's kind of annoying to see a new dynasty every 3 weeks. But you just post recap after recap and in a way I am just missing your passion for the game. So, I know this was not the nicest post ever. BUT don't feel insulted and see it as constructive criticism. Don't feel bad about me
hova- wrote:I don't think I want to see another Dynasty. I want to see dynasties I can identify with, that's what good Ds just have in common. A guy who likes his team, wants to rebuild it, wants to win a championship and continues the D for a long time. That's what Sit did (for sure), Lamrock did it, me myself did it (and I would still update it if 2k did not gimme a headache) and what X also did. These are kinda like the top Ds of the recent time.
Jae wrote:starting another story isn't going to get you more followers, if anything it would've just lost them. The biggest shame is here you could've done something to make people interested. I can't remember who said it, but your stories do all look the same. You're following an identical formula every time and it's not working because you're just making story after story, people are too used to seeing it.
Sit wrote:Yeah man, we all just looking out for you. You're just wasting your time and I can tell that you spend a lot of time on your threads.
shadowgrin wrote:If Thierry's stories were a woman, they would all be a cock tease.
Jae wrote:I don't know what it is Thierry but I am addicted to your threads. It's like a game where I want to see how long it lasts before you scrap it
Jae wrote:I just noticed this is the second time Thierry's used "Uprise" as an association title. I knew sooner or later he'd run out of words to use
