RUBIO SEEMS WILLING TO WAIT ONE MORE YEAR

Image

According to those close to point guard Ricky Rubio, whose NBA rights are currently held by the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Spaniard has no immediate plans to come over to the NBA following the 2010/11 season. It has been suggested that the only thing that could appease Rubio to the idea of coming over to the NBA this season is if his rights are traded to an Eastern Conference team such as the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat or New York Knicks.

When pushed on the topic, for once Minnesota GM David Kahn refused to comment.

Don't you just love the current NBA? :(

I can understand a player being free to go where they want once they are off contract, but if you are on rookie contracts then stiff bananas.

So when Rubio plans to play in 2012 does it mean he only have one year left in his contract? 3 years for rookie contracts right?

He starts a new contract. But after a certain year, does he get to forgo the rookie deal?

Pretty sure he's off the rookie contract/scale but his rights are still held by the Wolves... you should bring him over :D

He sucks anyways.

He is not under contract with the T-Wolves, so when he does come over, he should get a new 2+2 contract whenever it may be, worth how much the 5th pick would get.

Tell Jennings he can enjoy the NBA while he can. Cause when Rubio comes over, Rubio gonna dominate :P

I'm not going to directly take his euroleague performance and translate that to NBA performance. :)

IRL, Rubio's success will really depend on where he ends up. If he played for a coach like Larry Brown then he's doomed. I'd like to see him with Knicks or to a lesser extent the Celtics, just not the Heat if it has to be one of those three teams.

That.
Sit's right. Jennings was also stinking it up in Italy before coming to the NBA.

I think after 3 (2nd rd. pick) or 4 years (1st rd. pick) a drafted player is no longer under the rookie scale but the team still has his rights.
Case I could think of is Scola. Drafted in the 2nd in 2002 by the Spurs. Spurs attempted to get him in 2005 because Scola can then be happy with a contract not for the minimum (for 2nd rd. picks) but buyout rules prevented the Spurs from getting him. Spurs traded his rights. Rockets got him in 2007 when his contract from his Euro? team was finished. Got a new contract not limited by rookie scale.
HE'S USING HYPNOSIS!

Numbers don't count that much on good teams in europe. It's not like in the NBA. First of all you have only 40 minutes of playing time. Further, there are usually five guys on the court who can score, at least who can shoot decently. It's more team basketball and thus the stats are down.

I know stats don't matter in the Euroleague and Barca is a strong team and being the starting PG there is huge. We'll just have to wait and see to settle our argument.

The biggest indicator for me was that Rubio was shit in Barca's exhibition against the Lakers. I wanted to see hom play well but he hardly did anything that game.

On the slipside, Kobe after the game said that Rubio would be fine in the NBA so there you go. :)

I think that Rubio's talents (except the very average shooting) fit into the NBA depending on who he plays for. Minnesota's triangle isn't going to help. He needs an uptempo fastbreak team. He doesn't need numbers, he just needs to run the team. :)

Image PIC OF THE DAY

Best D-League player ever? That's the question I asked myself as power forward Kenny Adams caught fire in the third quarter on his way to 30 points (26 points in 2nd half) in 19 minutes. He was swishing 3's, turnaround jumpers on the baseline, long J's, reverse dunks, And 1's. Guy was crazy. I went from down 6 or 7 points to down about 25 within 5 minutes. I always wondered why the Suns traded for him after the Jazz signed him out of D-League. Now I know why. Nice way to overshadow Kevin Love's 40 point night :(

Wow, the Suns also signed Kenny Adams in my story. Guess I will have to pay more attention to him now.

Definitely watch out for him. He's like Channing Frye, can step out & hit open long 2 & 3. He's ideal role player. Perfect for Suns' system (Y)

A role player who can score 26 points in the second half alone

Admittedly it was against the T'wolves matador defense. In the tradition of Amar'e, Love was scoring and being scored on.
