Thanks a lot man! It's my best association so far, still a long way to go.

The Spurs now have 4 consecutive games at home -- Dallas, Denver, Toronto and another clash with New York. It's gonna be hot :cheeky:

River Walk Chronicles ♦ Spurs Beat

    DeJuan Blair causing Popovich a headache
    nba.com/spurs/beat | January 13th, 2011

    SAN ANTONIO -- The Spurs are about to add a key piece to the roster and create a conundrum for coach Gregg Popovich to puzzle. DeJuan Blair, the power forward who has missed the last 10 games with a lower back strain, is expected to play tomorrow night against the Dallas Mavericks. But what his role is, right off the bat, remains to be seen: Blair, who started all 29 games he's played this season, could very well come off the bench in a role limited by the minutes he's able to play when he comes back. Popovich, while insisting no firm decision had been made, alluded to easing Blair back into the speed of the game during a press conference this morning. “If we have to limit his minutes, we'd have to decide whether that's at the start or during the game,” the coach said. “I don't know what way we'd go.” Blair was averaging 8.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game before injuring himself during a December 23 game in Orlando -- where he had season-highs of 16 points and 20 rebounds. The thing is, he hasn't had as much as one serious practice with San Antonio since being hurt.

    The Spurs are scheduled to work out tomorrow morning in the AT&T Center. While the team was in Milwaukee yesterday, Blair got a full workout at the Bradley Center but that was with members of the team's staff and not the other team players. Unquestionably, there will be issues of timing and cohesion when he's back in the lineup, another reason to think his minutes might be limited. Also in consideration would be the performance of Antonio McDyess as a spot starter. McDyess played in 37 of 39 games this season, starting 14, averaging about 7.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in those 14 starts; San Antonio is 11-3 in those games. That would make it more amenable to Pop to at least leave Dice in his current role until DeJuan gets back up to speed. The fate of Matt Bonner, who has been solid in a backup role, is also up in the air. It's a virtual certainty that his minutes will be cut whenever Blair returns, but it's possible Popovich could find a way to play all three of them together for short spurts against specific matchups. Bonner is averaging 6.1 points and a career-high 5.1 rebounds this season. But the truth is, to make room for Blair, either Bonner or Garrett Temple will be placed on the inactive list.

Spurs ride “Fantastic Four” effort; recover from 16-point deficit to defeat struggling Mavs
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (DAL :: SAS)

SAN ANTONIO, January 14 -- Even recording superstar deadmau5 had to marvel at the San Antonio Spurs and their West-best 30-10 record. A day after Cream & AEG Live recognized him as the first electronic artist ever to sell out London's Earls Court, Joel Zimmerman (that's his real name) caused quite a stir from courtside and again in the Spurs locker room after the game. Despite being from Canada, Zimmerman said he's a big fan of both the Spurs and of course, the Toronto Raptors. Zimmerman watched the Spurs beat the Dallas Mavericks, 120-111; it was the 4th straight victory for the Spurs. George Hill scored all of his 10 points in the second half and Matt Bonner had 11 points and four rebounds staying perfect from the field, while Tiago Splitter added 9 points and 7 rebounds to help San Antonio avenge one of its worst losses of this season (November 27). Bonner was 4/4 from the floor, including 3/3 from 3-point territory for a +19. Splitter was a game-high +21, as he played the entire fourth quarter, where the Spurs posted a key 12-2 run to escape with the win. Hill also added 11 assists -- +18. Corey Maggette posted 19 points, three boards and three assists, as this 4 Spurs combined for a plus-minus of +70.

DeJuan Blair scored 8 points from the bench in his return, before suffering some pain in his back in the third quarter. “It should be all right,” Blair said. “It isn't as serious as before, so no problem at all. I talked with the coach and I will keep coming from the bench until I'm 100 percent.” But he seemed fine after the game, when he and several teammates posed for pictures with Zimmerman. “Oh, a superb artist,” Blair said. “He rules the electronic scene right now.” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said assistant coach Mike Budenholzer thought Blair would be fine. “But I'm sure they're going to do the regular tests,” Pop said. Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili scored 14 points apiece for San Antonio; Duncan also had nine rebounds and a season-high six blocks. “We really pushed the ball in transition to get some easy baskets and I was able to finish,” Duncan said. “We mixed it up and got some easy baskets.” Ginobili had only two points in the first half, shooting 1-of-7 from the field. That's because Popovich stuck with Maggette and Bonner to carry the offensive load. “He saw I wasn't being aggressive, so he changed it and it worked,” said Ginobili, who finished the night 5-of-14.

Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-best 28 points with nine rebounds for Dallas. “They just out-executed us in the last 12 minutes -- the most important in a basketball game,” said Caron Butler, who scored 21 points for Dallas. The Spurs were within 86-81 entering the fourth frame after Larry Hughes' 3-pointer to close the third at the buzzer. Already in the last quarter, Jason Terry (23 points) drove for a one-handed bank shot and then, after Ginobili sank a basket, Terry made a free throw and Bonner hit a lay-up. Jason Kidd (9 points, 16 assists) added a basket of his own, but Ginobili sank one of two free throws and Hill made an explosive dunk over Shawn Marion to tie the game at 98. A lay-up by Hughes gave the Spurs a 104-103 lead, their first lead since being 5-2 in the first minutes of the contest. “They turned up the pressure on us and we needed to handle it better,” coach Rick Carlisle said. “We showed that we can certainly play with this caliber of team, but to win you've got to be a little more solid in some areas.” The Spurs shot 11-of-19 from beyond the arc, 92 percent from the charity stripe and the reserves won 60-20.

Lewis, Dunn, Bears cruise past Must, Yellow Jackets in defensive display
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (Georgia Tech :: Baylor)

BAYLOR, January 15 -- LaceDarius Dunn scored 13 points, three boards and four assists and the Baylor Bears played smothering defense to beat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 56-33 -- Baylor's 6th consecutive victory. “I recognized the team that was out there tonight,” coach Scott Drew said. Quincy Acy and Anthony Jones added 8 points apiece for the Bears. Baylor gave up 81 points in a loss to Kansas State two weeks ago, and Drew publicly comented his anger that time. “We realized our mistakes from that game, and we understand that defensively we are a much better ball club,” Willie Lewis said. “I have to be able to be more angry with my defense, be more of a defensive player.” Josh Lomers posted eight points and had a game-high nine rebounds. “The offense is the obvious, but you all don't know how hard we work on defense,” Acy said. “Talking to each other and being one when we're out there. We know we're not flawless.” Lewis had four points, contributing more on the defensive end, and had a game-best 6 assists.

No player from Georgia Tech could score in double figures -- Martti Must was limited to six points and seven rebounds and Zach Peacock could contribute with only five points. Must and Peacock combined for 5-of-25 shooting from the field, while Brian Oliver led the team with seven points. “Those guys gave us a lesson on how to play basketball tonight,” Peacock said. “We started to take tough shots and stopped executing.” Iman Shumpert started but he was limited to six points in 23 minutes. Brad Sheehan and Brian Oliver had four point each, both in reserve roles. Georgia Tech was limited to 14 points in the second half. Acy hit all three of his shots from the floor in the second quarter, as the Bears had a 12-point lead heading into halftime. The Bears posted another statement in the third, a 19-9 score; a 21-point lead as the fourth frame started. “It's not only Dunn,” Yellow Jackets coach Paul Hewitt said. “When you throw Acy and Lomers in the mix, you know they've got bigmen spaced there, all around Dunn.”
