Does anybody know how to twist the slider so I can earn more foul? When I play with CPU (12min/quarter, all star), I usually can only have less than 10 free throw attempts but CPU can always have at least 15 attempts. Even my player is pushed and had to adjust when I try a lay up, most of the time I still don't get a foul call. But on the other side, even I take charge outside the circle, CPU can always earn a trip to the free throw line. Please help!

Turn up the mid-air collision foul slider and shooting foul slider. I've also found that you draw more offensive fouls by raising your arms and standing still than by using the draw charge button.

Thank you Andrew! But will that cause me to commit more foul too? Will that also help if I lower the Charge/Block slider? I have tried diferent combination of these fould sliders before. Sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't. I think maybe the style I play can be an issue because I tend to like jumper instead of layup.

Turning down the Block/Charge slider will help too - I don't know how that slipped my mind. Your style of play is definitely a contributing factor - you won't be sent to the line much if you mostly take jumpers. Conversely, the CPU will probably get more free throw attempts if they're constantly taking it inside and challenging your big men. Though fouls do occur on jumpshots, most shooting fouls occur when players drive to the basket or post up, anything close to the hoop basically.

Take the ball inside more often, you'll get more fouls. Raise your hands on defense rather than using the Take Charge button, you should be able to reduce the amount of defensive fouls and maybe draw a few charges on your opponents.

Be wary that adjusting foul sliders will also affect the fouls that are called on you, so keep that in mind when you make your changes. (Y)

Thank you so much! Can I ask you one more question? Do you jump to contest the shot in low post or you just stay close and raise your hands? How about outside shot? I found that it seems hands up doesn't work very well on outside shot and low post fade away. Also when the CPU try to beat the shot clock, hands up seems can't cause any miss.

I generally just use the raise hands defense on jumpshots, though if a player is hot I'll generally jump to contest the shots. In the low post, I find that raising your hands then jumping as they attempt the shot is the best way to contest shots down low (on rare occasions, you can even block the shot).

Thank you for your advice, Andrew. I will try that. (Y)

regarding in-air collision and shooting foul sliders, which one applies for:

1) jumpers where you lean in and draw contact and get fouled.

2) adjusted shots/lay-ups that get fouled.

3) pump fake, defender jumps towards you to block and you take a straight up jumper and get hit and fouled.

I am not sure about this. But I have tried to turn up air collison but leave shooting foul alone. Then both CPU and I got more fouls on jumper. It seems that the air collision slider affect all kinds of shoot or layup.

Hi, i´ve got two questions.

Is there a way to make the cpu not make double team every time i get the ball to the low post?, because it is so easy to just pass the ball to the ungarded one and get an open shot, and this makes it too easy to score or at least to get a good shot, and it doesn´t make you work a little more the offensive play.
I´ve tried moving the interception slider from 40 to 50, so i can not pass the ball so easily, and it´s got better, but i still can make it quite easily, and more than 50 seems to be too much.
Usually as a consecuence my C or PF are the top assistants of the game.

The second question. In my opinion the shots made wit a hand in the face should not go in, at least 95% of them, maybe less when nearer of the rim, and also less when these shots were made by star players. I don´t know if there is a way, tweaking the sliders, to make them miss more of these shots, because it´s really frustrating when you make a good defence and force them to shoot in the last second but they put it in even with a hand on their face. i mean it should be easier to defend than to atack, so you would be forced to try to find the best shot or give it to your best man and try to score with him.
I´ve tried putting poor realeased shoot to 0 in both user and cpu, but it still does not work.

Thanks.

For your first question:

In the other thread, I wrote:I don't think there's a setting you can change. The Double Team Effectivity slider will reduce the effectiveness of double teams, but that will just mean players won't lose the ball as often when they are double-teamed. As far as I can tell, it's part of the AI's strategy, and cannot be changed.

For your second question:

Again I think this is an issue with the AI; an effort to make things more challenging. For adjusted shots near the basket, you can always lower the adjusted shot percentage slider. The sliders are pretty good, but there are some issues that cannot be completely resolved by the sliders. These include the CPU making incredible shots as they try to beat the shot clock, and the "comeback code".

About CPU's shot clock beater. Here's my experience. The key is to force the ball handler to put the ball on the floor and don't let he gets his feet set. If he stands still, he will almost make it every time unless you block it. Try to bounce him away and jump a little bit later than usual because CPU seems like to fake away to beat the shot clock. Or when you see the clock is about 5-6 seconds, call a double team and switch to half court trap, then control another man to pick up the guy who will make a catch and shoot.

Check out some of the slider settings posted earlier in this thread. My sliders are optimised for 12 minute quarters on Superstar difficulty, though you may find you need to make a few adjustments to suit your style of play.

Essentially, yes. Sorry for the bad news.

Hi, Andrew. Do you know which slider I should turn, so when CPU call a pick and roll, my player won't stick with CPU's player who set the screen?

Thu Apr 29, 2004 2:40 pm

I don't think there's a slider for that. Perhaps you could try turning down the CPU's On-Ball Physical Defense slider, but I can't guarantee that it will work.

Wed May 05, 2004 2:00 pm

These new sliders are slightly better, IMO.

Thu May 06, 2004 10:59 am

As Dlirag said i find them slightly better but it is still too easy to score especially when driving or with pro hoop (what should i change?) and i would increase 3pt for AI too and FT difficulty

Thu May 06, 2004 1:20 pm

Reduce User Freestyle Effectiveness. That might help a little.
