Re: WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011

I hate Microsoft points. I have 180 left over from previous DLC. I need 800 to buy Fan Axxess. So I can buy 500 points, and still not have enough, or buy 1000 points, and have 380 left over. Either way, it's a waste of money.

i like it how on psn if it costs less than $5 they make you buy $5. but if it costs more than $5, then you pay the exact amount.

I can't avail the Fan Axxess/ DLC because I'm on the portable. Lucky you Xbox and PS3 owners. :(

Btw, do you have any decent slider? I assume they are the same with the portable.

Somehow, the game has completely conflicting issues. Wrestlers are too quick to get up after any given move, and it takes way too much of a beatdown to get them to actually stay down (and then after one reversal it's like none of it ever happened), yet it's way too easy to get a pin without doing too much. Makes it a tad hard to play, because when your opponent won't even stay out of the ring for a two count and is running around all over the place, you tend not to try to pin them. They then get a reversal, hit a couple of random moves, and win. As I said, I've bumped down the momentum gains in an effort to lengthen matches, but all it's resulting in is matches in which neither competitor ever even does a signature move.

I know what you mean. At last check I currently have something like 730 MS points, so for the sake of making up those 70 points (or whatever it is, pretty sure I've got 730 on the account at the moment) to get the Fan Axxess pack I'll have to buy far more than I need.

Still waiting on it.

I don't buy all that many games, either, which doesn't help. SDVR, NBA 2k, and Madden, depending on how much of an improvement they are on the previous year, is about it. So I don't really have anything to spend the other points on.

Still waiting on it.

Where's it shipping from?

Victoria, so I thought it'd be here by now but if it was only posted out Friday then perhaps not.

Interesting. I'm all the way on the other side of the country, so three days is fair enough, if irritating. Not so much with only getting it to Newcastle.

Re: WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011

Wed Nov 03, 2010 1:38 pm

Yeah it's a little long but if it didn't go out before 3 PM on Friday afternoon, it's not that surprising. I've already received a parcel today which was something I ordered on Monday (that was coming from elsewhere in NSW though and sent out the same afternoon), hopefully it'll come with the regular post. At least New Vegas came yesterday.

Re: WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011

It should've gone out a bit earlier than that, though, surely? Official release was Thursday, most places will ship earlier than release.

Re: WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011

Wed Nov 03, 2010 5:20 pm

I would've thought so, but who knows; so long as I get it soon and in working order. Might think twice about ordering from them again but they've been really good in the past so for the saving I made I'm prepared to endure the wait...which I'll have to one more day at least, since it didn't arrive with the regular post.

EDIT: Actually, judging by the email I received this evening, they might have only sent it today. That's a bit weird and something I'll certainly keep in mind next time I'm considering buying from them but hey, it's on the way and I got it for less than RRP so this time I'll just have to endure.

Could be a user-created sign with the paint tool but if not, that's pretty cool.

Finally got the game yesterday and spent some time with it through the evening. Lost a match on a fluke pin after beating the hell out of my opponent and not really taking much damage myself, somewhat disappointed to see that's still in the game. New controls/tweaked grappling system is fine and I picked it up fairly quickly though I find myself trying to perform strong grapples at times out of habit. Loving the new controls such as being able to place a player on the top rope or in the tree of woe, springboard moves off the ropes and whatnot. I'd keep these controls pretty much as-is moving forward.

Currently playing through Jericho's Road to Wrestlemania. The backstage stuff is a mixed bag for me, it's kind of cool how you come across other angles playing out, wrestlers giving interviews and so on. I also like that you can skip that stuff and just go straight to the next objective. Sometimes it made me feel a bit impatient though and I just wanted to go to the next part of the story without having to run from the carpark to the entryway or GM's office. Haven't really felt the need to bother going to the training room to assign experience points yet either.

I'm holding off on buying Fan Axxess for the moment as I'd like to give unlocking some stuff by myself a shot but it will save some money on the other DLC so I'll probably get it in due course.

Nice to see we have some generic music back for CAWs. It's a small selection but it's better than nothing. Awesome that we can create multiple attires for CAWs this year and not have to grind to level them up so that they have reasonable attributes.

All in all, they did a really good job this year. I'm sure as I play it I'll find a few quirks, even if it's just something in the RTWM storylines (being a Taker fan, I'm not thrilled that we have to break The Streak ;)) but so far, so good. Reckon I'll be playing it more than 2010, which for some reason I never really got into as much as I usually do.

A 10-second intro for a 4-second clip. :lame:

Haven't had that problem. I did, however, end the first several matches in Christian's RTWM with Kill switch -> Armbar -> pin.

It isn't really a problem I guess since I still end up performing a grapple move. I'll just have the odd moment of "Oh yeah, that's not in the game anymore".

Are there any face turn in your Universe mode?

I don't know about random face turns, but there is an option to change the crowds reaction to the superstar.

Yeah I know that Superstar management thing. How about CPU generated/random turns? In my Universe, JTG, Kofi and Christian  turned heel.

I haven't played much of Universe mode so I don't know.

Re: WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011

Haven't played enough of Universe yet to confirm it from personal experience, but if there are heel turns I'd say there are face turns too. From what I've seen of Universe so far, it's an awesome idea but there might be a few too many extracurricular scenarios generated...kind of like overdone trade logic in previous NBA Live and 2K.

vs Undertaker RTWM was pretty good, just a shame you have to beat the streak to finish it properly. It's a little over the top at times but I guess it's not that far removed from the way Taker's angles are booked at times. It just feels like that element is taken to the extreme in video games, not quite as bad as the magic wand story in a previous game though.

That, and it's only the same two or three scenes. Guy buys ticket, second entrant runs in during first entrant's entrance and assaults him from behind, and 'did you forget about your other opponent?' It gets old. I've seen a couple of others, but not nearly as often.

the magic wand story in a previous game though.

But it was a dream! That's perfectly reasonable!

Re: WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011

Wed Nov 10, 2010 8:59 am

This is true, one of those occasions where "It was all a dream" was a worthwhile ending. Still felt like a waste of time.

I think I will be going for the "Unlock Everything" DLC sooner rather than later, probably as part of the Axxess package. Had about ten attempts at completing a certain optional goal in Rey Mysterio's RTWM last night but with the way the CPU decides to make certain matches in RTWM extra challenging by having the CPU reverse everything and crippling your momentum meter, I just gave up on it. Best to unlock all the extra content before I grow weary of the game.

Perform a finisher as Evan Bourne? Yeah, that one is a massive pain.

Additionally, I've apparently done what was necessary to unlock Edge and Christian's tag team entrance within Christian's RTWM, but it didn't unlock. The Unlock Guide I read may be at fault, though. However, I'm not sure how else that would unlock, so I'm not too sure about that.

Re: WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011

Thu Nov 11, 2010 5:49 pm

Yeah, that's the one. Went ahead and bought Axxess and downloaded Unlock Everything yesterday. I'll still play through the remaining RTWM stories to see what they're like and go for as many XBL achievements as I can, but as I said I'd rather have the unlockables available before I grow tired of the game.
