1991/1992 writing a new history... (NBA live 06) retro Dynasty now on NBA2k11

Season I:

Welcome to the year 1991...

After trying out some Rosters and types of NBA 06 i decided to start my Dynasty in the early 90´s. I grew up with nba 95 and 96, so theese teams are still familiar to me and its a fun to face up theese legendary teams including Barkley, G. Hill, Olajuwon, Drexler, Ewing, R. Miller, the young Shaq etc.......

Season one starting from the Bulls point of view. What happens in 92 and 93 i dont know, will the Bulls be able to defend their title?. Will Jordan retire after 1993? Will the 90´s become the decade of the Bulls or maybe an other team? Noone knows the story isnt told.

This post will summarize the main stats and awards of the Dynasty. You will find the detailed report below. The single games are not represented that detailed as others maybe do. I want to put the focus on season stats awards and the development of the league.

Season II: on NBA 2k11

After starting this Dynasty i got more into Basketball Video Games. So i decided to "update" my 5 year old NBA Live 2006 with a new game. This was always fun for me playing with NBA live 06, but now that i am owner of 2k11 it doesnt make much sense continuing live 06 seriously.

The differences between those two games are tremendous as you can imagine. I try to convert this Dynasty to the 2k11 format, i hope it wont be such a big break at all and the convertion will run smoothly. I made a new Roster according to the 1991/92 Season i already played in live 06. Of course this is a kind of experiement especially in the first season, we will see how things turn out.

Changes to the 91/92 season:

The Season will be extended to 82 Games. There will also be a 5-7-7-7 Playoff series this year. Furthermore i am going to increase the quarter length to a more realistic value. That means i have to play more minutes with my bench, so you will also see more stats from them.

Not really a challenging game for the Bulls. The defensive wall built up by Horace Grant and Scott Wiliams forces the Bullets to many misses. Grant made unbelievable 12 blocks and setting up a new season record. Jordan and Pippen scored both 32 pts leading for the win.

Jordan ties again!
Maybe the first touchstone for the Bulls. Gary Payton “The Glove” and Shawn Kemp “The Reignman” really applied pressure on the Bulls defense. Seattle dominating four quarters but weren`t able to knock the Bulls lights out.

About 10 seconds before the end of the game Seattle led by three. Gary Payton misses the shot to win the game. Horace Grant came up with the rebound and called the timeout. Armstrong passes the ball to Pippen who decides to set up Michael Jordan for a good look at the basket from the 3 point line. Jordan beating the buzzer and ties again for the Bulls. 89 : 89 The overtime was played very tough on both sides. Finally the Bulls won due to a better efficience from the Freethrow line.

Again Horace Grant showed a strong performance, maybe he could turn out to be the key player for the BUlls in the 1991/92 season. Terry Porter and the young Forward Clifford Robinson scored for the Portland Trailblazers. Robinson established his starting position once again with 27 pts and 10 rebounds. After beeing one of the best 6th men last year he become essentiel for the Trailblazers game.

Yes he couldnt put himself into the focus so far. Grant is very indesplaceable for my game. He often grabs the board if MJ or Scottie misses. I already know the player of the month it will be a huge surprise

I will write a short summary of November tomorrow.

Nov 23rd 1991 Game 9

Detroit Pistons (4:5) 99 @ Chicago Bulls (8:1) 109 W

DET 99 CHI 109

Chicago beats Detroit!
This was once again a very tough fight between the eastern rivals. The so called Bad Boys from Detroit didnt let the Bulls much room to breathe. However this was getting Detroit into foul trouble. Dennis Rodman had to leave early in the 4th quarter because of six fouls. Although Isiah Thomas made a great game scoring 32 points and 7 assists the Pistons weren`t able to beat the Bulls. One reason for that was the strong performance of Scottie Pippen. The games MVP showed his great potential the first time this season. Leading the Bulls with 37 points to the win.

The Jet disenchants Chicago!
Kenny "The Jet" Smith was the man today. Scoring 43 points he almost beated Chicago by himself. This was a huge defeat for the Bulls today. Even they lost the game with 20 points, the coach wasnt depressed though. Phil Jackson is assured that the rematch on Sunday in Chicago will be totally different. On the other side the Houston Rockets showed their ambition for this season. The mix of young talented guys like Vernom Maxwell and the experienced players like Olajuwon and Thorpe makes the rockets to a team that must be noted this year.

Chicago Bulls (9:2) 104 @ Sacramento Kings (9:4) 103 W

CHI 104 SAC 103

Pippen overturns the King(s)!
The Sacramento Kings one of the surprising teams this year made it really tough to win for the Bulls. After their defeat in Houston the Bulls were determined to win this evening. A long time the game was on the Kings side, but Lionel Simmons turned out to be the tragic hero this night. After missing an essential Freethrow just before the end of the game the Kings only led with 1 point 103:102. As the Kings maybe calculated Jordan as the man for the last throw ,they were suprised that the ball came into Pippens hands. Shooting just before the buzzer from a 20feet position ensured the Bulls the 104:103 win.

The Rockets did it again!
After beating the Bulls 4 days ago in Houston the Rockets did it again in Chicago. Awesome man today was the Center Hakeem Olajuwon. In Houston they call him The Dream but he came over Chicago as a Nightmare. He scored, grabbed the boards and played hard defense under the basket. From this evening on the Bulls know that it will be a tough way to defend their title.

loved this era of bball (Y) just such a hard history to re-write; like see Grant's name up there for MVP running and no MJ... it's almost blasphemous! love seeing all the old names again though: Payton, Robinson, Ewing, Hakeem etc.

Chicago preparing for the big showdown against the Pacers.
The Kings showed a poorly defensive performance today. The Bulls were able to set their 11th win for this season and they are ready to face the big affair d'honneur against the pacers on sunday. Spud Webb made a carrer high of 51 points. The small guard known for his jumping ability appeared as a scorer today. Nevertheless it wasnt enough to beat the Bulls.

Don't worry i think the Knicks at least reach the playoffs. Maybe then facing the Bulls in the first round! That would be a tough series, the Knicks lineup in this roster patch is outstanding. Patrick Ewing, Charles Oakley, Xavier MacDaniel Jonathan Starks and Marc Jackson. (Y)

Nah It will be different this time if we meet in the playoffs. I bet we would have had one at least one ring if it wasn't for MICHAEL JORDAN.

Maybe the most exciting showdown in the Eastern Conference this year. It is also the big duel for the peak position in the Central Devision. The Indiana Pacers as the leading team of the league welcomed the Bulls the acting champion.
On this evening we saw the strenght of the Pacers offensive. To start with Reggie Miller who scored 33 points and made 5 of 8 three pointers. On the forward position the young german Detlef Schrempf who scored 15 points in the first quarter. The Point Guard Michael Williams leading the league with an average of 8.9assists per game and to round up the two big men Rookie Dale Davis and the Center Rick Smits.
The Pacers took the early lead, scoring 37 points in the first quarter. Even the Bulls tried to resist they weren't able to catch up.

Chicago with a superior win against the week team from Minnesota. The fans in the Target Center saw a poor game by their Timberwolves. The Wolves really have to struggle if they want to keep the chance of reaching the NBA playoffs. But with only 3 wins out of 19 games that seemes impossible.
Their only glimmer of light is the young Rookie Center from New Mexiko, Luc Longley (7,2 - 260lbs). Maybe the Wolves can enhance their squad to the next season and build a team around him.

Chicago Star injured!
The night began with a huge shock for the Bulls. In the first quarter Horace Grant got a collusion under the basket with the Cavs` Larry Nance. Unfortunately he sprained his wrist ankle in this action. It was impossible for him to carry on and so the Bulls coach decided to put him on the bench for the rest of the game.

Bill Cartwright came in for the Bulls. Cartwright who had to leave the starting five early in the season due to the solid performances of the young Scott Williams tried to compensate the miss of Grant. The strong Cavs, in the first place with Larry Nance and Craig Ehlo were responsible for the win tonight.
After the game the Bulls reported briefly that one of their key players this season, Horace Grant, will miss about two weeks because of his injury.

CHI Horace Grant sprained wrist ankle 2 weeks injury

Will the Bulls be able to compensate Grants' absence? This should be impossible. Grant was with an average of 23 ppg 11rpg and 2.5bpg essential, especially for the Bulls' defensive game.

Grant going down is a huge blow. I'd like to see more stats from your players from now on as well.

Playing without Grant the Bulls showed a solid performance. The experienced man Bill Cartwright did a great game grabbing 12 rebounds and scoring 10 points. Though the Bulls had their weak points in the defense they could celebrate their 14th win this season. Favorable Jordan and Pippen were responsible for that.

A close win against the strong playing Nets. The domination under the basket by Coleman and the offensive skills of Blaylock made the game very exciting for a long time. Again Jordan showed his ability to close out games within the last seconds. With a jumper from the baseline he made the basket for the 110:108 win just in time.

Scott Williams injured!
Even the Bulls made a 20 point victory against the Hornets it is another blow for the Bulls. After the half Scott Williams had to be substituted because of sore in his upper leg. Cliff Levingston took his part and made a solid game with 11 points 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. The first medical outcome of Williams' injury exposed that he will miss a few games because of a strained muscle. The Bulls now have to count on Cliff Levingston and Bill Cartwright until Grant and Williams are absolutely recovered from their injury.

Horace Grant with impressive comeback!
Grant stepped back on the floor today and showed an impressive comeback. His injury seemed to be gone and he played as if nothing had happened. Elected to the games MVP another time this season he made 32 points 7 rebounds and 6 blocks. The Bucks who defeated the Bulls early in the season remained colourless and didn't had a chance anytime. The Bulls even scored 64 points in the first half and made an unbelievable Field Goal percentage of .801. In the second half the Bulls geared down a bit but still controlled the game.

Isn't Malone like 38 in 92? I'm suprised he is still contributing.

Didn't contribute much though, only six points and two rebounds. Shaq is currently playing a lot better at the same age.
